[X]Invite her to ogle at Ligier's Abs
You fold your arms, scoffing imperiously. Or dynastically. Or Ebeliously. "I'm not apologizing for summoning Ligier."
Lumi shrugs. "Not my department. Though, to be fair, we did know you were going to summon one of the big ones. And as long as you don't screw up your binding, I'm pretty sure the home office is fine with this."
She coughs, suspiciously.
"Right," you respond, "So, do you want to come down and ogle Ligier with me?"
"I'm here on business, Ebeli." She pats the sofa next to her. "The offer is appreciated, and maybe later."
You sit down next to her, taking the other teacup. Then pouring yourself some tea, sipping as you sit cross legged on your perfectly comfy couch. "Business, then. What does the Bureau of Destiny need?"
She takes a scroll out of her cleavage, somehow, and unfurls it. Letters glow blue, seeming to hover over the paper. "So, I don't need to explain to you how we Sidereals monitor Fate and Destiny, right? In particular, how we work to ensure the optimal long term outcomes for Creation?"
"I've been lectured on that many times, yes."
"Here's the kicker," Lumi continues, "This becomes a problem when an area is outside of Fate. When it's outside of Fate, we can't see shit."
You nod. You are, of course, smart enough to know where she's going with this, even if the precise workings of the Loom of Fate are something you have trouble wrapping your head around. "So there's somewhere that's outside of Fate and you want a Circle of Solars to look into it."
Lumi nods with a smile. "This Circle in particular, because it's inside the City of Dead Flowers. A couple of weeks ago, an area just-" She waves her hand, miming an explosion. "Just bloofed into existence and we haven't been able to make heads or tails of what's happening down there."
You hum, sipping your tea. "Well, I guess we could take a peak before we have Ligier incinerate the entire Shadowland."
You sip your tea. Lumi smiles.
"Also, V'Neef is in An Teng."
And then you choke on your tea.
After Lumi departed, taking a rain check on ogling Ligier, you took an Agatae over to the Lap, and in particular the Warstrider hangar that was serving as a forward planning base for the war against the Dead. It helped that the hangar was used solely for Sky's warstrider, hence leaving more than enough room while the many uplifted tool gods worked to maintain the thirty foot tall giant.
"HELLO SORCERER~" the tool gods, which for reasons better left unsaid resemble little girls, declare upon you entering the hangar. You smile at them, then scan over the hangar. At a table with maps on it, you spot Sky talking with Octavian and walk over.
Demons were your go to solution to problems, but even still you did acknowledge that demons were alien. In many ways, they were mutable, changing, but they always had some aspects that were set in stone.
For instance, Octavian, the Quarter Prince. One of the most fearsome and powerful Demons of the Second Circle. As always, Octavian caries Equitable Resolution, the staff of Malfean Brass. As always, bare earth cries when she walks across it. As always, she has a keen tactical mind and is an expert in asymmetrical warfare.
But, oh yes. 'She.' Since they found an artifact tiara from the realm of one of Octavian's enemies in Creation, Octavian now appears as a tall woman with a tail, long golden locks intermixed with horns that give her the appearance of someone wearing a horned tiara, and generous assets. You're still not sure what to think about that. Her personality has not changed at all. Just, for some reason she reminds you of your more competitive sisters.
"Sorcerer," Octavian says, in the normal tone one expects from the Living Tower but for some reason more pleasant, "Sky has informed me of the change of plans. If anything, Ligier just lets us work faster, because we were going to have to burn the Shadowland anyway."
Octavian grins, and you are reminded that the Living Tower has very sharp teeth. Also reminded of the fact that Octavian liked you, and not in that way. Among other things, the tiara gave the demon the ability to taste food and thus made you their favorite sorcerer in a long time.
Many demonologists would argue against appeasing creatures of Malfeas like that, but you've long since proved them wrong. Demons are demons, but not inherently evil. Appeasing them, helping them, aiding them, was just one of many ways of ensuring they did what you wanted. Especially the more powerful ones. As long as you made sure they were fulfilling your agenda, and not the agendas of the Yozi, even if by coincidence.
"Very good," you say, and turn to Sky, "Lumi just told me that my mother is in An Teng."
Sky blinks. "You mean V'Neef?"
You stare at him for a long moment. "There was no Neomah involved, so yes. V'Neef."
"Fair enough. You just don't usually refer to her as your mother. Just, V'Neef." He taps his fingers on the table, then turns to the demon. "Octavian, check on the border patrols."
"Of course." Octavian smiles to you both, cracking her knuckles as she walks away. You watch her walk away, perhaps too intently.
"I don't know why she's here," you state, "If we're lucky, she's here on vacation like any respectable dragon blooded is."
Sky nods. "And Lumi didn't just come down to tell you V'Neef's in the area, right? Because as much as she likes you, she has a job."
You snap your fingers. "Right. Also, there's a large area currently outside of Fate in the Shadowland and she- or, more particularly her boss- wants us to investigate it."
[ ]Take everyone and investigate the anomaly.
[ ]Let Path continue to negotiate with Ligier, take Ray, Sky and Telion and investigate. And maybe some demons.
