Dreamers of the Day - (An SAO Fusion Isekai)

That does actually make sense, since she was all about that control and ensuring no one could threaten her position, and her own amusement with the Taboo Index.

Her seductions only work on the countriest of country bumpkins -cough- Eugeo -cough-

Technically that's everyone in Underworld when the Capital of the Empire is literally a town of 20,000 . . .

If standing around naked and fondling herself doesn't blow your mind, she's kinda out of ideas due to the lack of a healthy romantic life or any history of erotica production to give her ideas, even bad ones.

Kirito - "Luckily, I've already seen the world's most beautiful woman naked!"

Alice - O_O

Quinella - " . . . "

Quinella - "I'm sorry . . . that's a new one."

Yep, Dragonball, Sailor Moon, and (inexplicably) Escaflowne, one of the OG Isekais :p. (Actually I guess Samurai Pizza Cats half counts in there in being a super early watch?)

I remember the first 3 episodes of Escaflowne airing on Fox kids . . . Because they had NO IDEA what they'd just purchased the rights to XD

Escaflowne is amazing!

I heard they butchered the series with the dub. I have... I think it's the first twelve episodes on dvd somewhere?

I heard they were trying to make Van the MC...

While we're on the topic. And back before more generalized 'Gamer' fics took over from crossing SAO with whatever game franchise people cared to name . . .

I joked about putting the cast into a Battletech setting.

Kirito would absolutely pilot a Black Knight as a Mercenary, probably from the Federated Suns originally. Yui would run on some lostech tactical computer he picked up.

Klein and his gang are Free world's league mercs.

Sinon's from the Taurian Concordat and pilot some sort of long range support like a Jaeger Mech.

Asuna . . .

Asuna - "Kirito-kun, why is my special perk <<Asuna Yuuki-Steiner>>?

Kirito - "It means you have a bank account bigger than most planet's GDPs . . . " -How the hell did she get THAT perk so early! -

No way, he's too tortured and self-flagellating, plus he dual wields. He has to be a Combine ronin.

I could also see her as a ComGuard in an Excalibur. Rare background with an even rarer mech. (Or with Snord's if you want her to be on the field and interacting with a bunch of misfits better)

Asuna would be the hard one. Not many mechs that can be called 'elegant'. Ah hell, just put her in a highlander and let her drop kick people with 95 tons of battle mech XD

Man, if I'd used UW as the basis for HalkO, with rebalancing the powers due to everyone becoming fleshy . . . The UW denizens being traumatized by learning about defecation.

Kirito and Asuna bolt out of the room and shove Sasha in.

Sasha - "What am I supposed to do?!"

Kirito - "You're a teacher. Teach!"

Sasha - "Time to use that childhood development credit."

And to really twist the knife in them, it's the commoners who get a handle on it first. Well, a few of the nobility do as well, and it is odd that they are almost universally among the fifth and sixth rank nobles. A few of higher ranks as well. They all seem to be from families that are either looked down on for being too soft due to not being asshats to everyone lower than them, or from families in some form of official disgrace.

The royal families? They still piss and shit the bed, well all but the youngest, who took to potty training quite well due to not being quite blinded by pride and arrogance at that point in their lives. It's also rather odd that no one not originally from a virtual world bats an eye at learning of it, aside from noting that it is rather odd that such an embarrassing quirk in a royal family is so well known. Well, that and additions to the various often disgusting jokes about nobility and royalty that are already around and presumably secret from said royalty and nobility (which it isn't, of course).

All surviving integrity knights are issued a small children's book - 'Everyone Poops', cue severe expressions as they read it and keep looking up for confirmation from their 'Lord' that this is indeed the case.

Kirito nodding sympathetically as he tries to sink out of sight.

Edit : But man, it's not a unique problem with Kawahara, but he really isn't great at writing nuanced villains.

To be fair to Kawahara, making nuanced villains wasn't exactly necessary for his story. Making nuanced villains would have made the story better, but it wasn't an absolute necessity. Then again, the kind who would do what most of his villains were doing are best served by being sociopaths to begin with. Also makes for good fanfic fodder for us, as we attempt to give them that nuance.

I still admit some shock when people tell me that I did a good job at humanizing Kayaba and making him more nuanced and sympathetic in my own work. Then again, I tried to do a high functioning sociopath properly. I do believe I missed the mark, but I also believe that the deaths and subsequent death toll was not his intent, but more a consequence of how he set it up. A consequence he knew would be the case, and did it anyway. That he also strived to make it fair to his victims and to set it up where they will kill him for what he did and get some closure can be seen as his belief that it was the only way he could pay the price for what he did. Not atone, because even he knew that what he did was unforgivable, but a way to balance the books, so to speak. His actions lead to so many deaths, it was only fitting in his mind that his death be at the hands of those who were his victims.

And for all that those who survived SAO in my work hate him and what he did to them, many also respect him, his accomplishments... and the fact that he made it fair enough to give them a chance if they were so willing to take it.

Just because you hate someone doesn't mean you cannot respect their capabilities.

Asuna would totally be an aerospace pilot in Battletech. Just flashes by, things blow up, never really fights with everyone else...

. . .

Shit you're right.

In any case, it just occurred to me :

If and when Kyouko find out about the stunt her son pulled there will be nothing but a series of unintelligible angry catgirl noises.

Okay, I think the assumption is that they're both going to bald faced lie to each other.

Achilles - "No worries, I'm just helping Eugene here organize the front line." - slaps on back - is actually leading the assault team . . .

Atalanta - "I've been sitting tight here, living a quiet life, and making sure Leafa doesn't get into trouble." - Neglects the time she almost died walking into a monster den, and that she's practicing religiously with her bow . . .

Edit : Leafa - "Don't worry, I'll keep your little sister out of trouble!"

Achilles - " . . . "

Achilles - "Y'know, let's just go with that."
