[X] No. A defensive stance has worked well enough so far.
We really need to train our abilities more because if we can do this with little skill when we just push then we're probably a pretty serious null.

She's a full scale Pariah or so.
She kind of has to learn about things like psychic backlash though, so that she actually knows what happened when psyker rolls nat 1. Those things will keep happening around her, after all.

Also, in the last room is a psyker. So, as a blank, we actually want to take point in this case. This is what we are by far the best at among all the crew, and one of the best at on the entire planet.

[X] Yes. You won't behave recklessly, but it's time to step forward.

I'm still surprised that the inquisitor is risking something as rare as a full scale pariah by throwing her into the fight without training her fully. I sort of wish we'd run into the sisters of silence so we can get some pointers or training.

other than more risk, I don't see why we would go to the front. Also this is Warhammer so it's not like the back is any safer.

The Inquisitor's in a bit of a bind with you. On one hand, he doesn't want to risk you, since a strong Pariah is so rare. On the other hand, you're mostly useful to him as a counter to enemy psykers, and that's always a dangerous occupation. He doesn't want you to die, but he does want to get some use out of you, and that means accepting a certain level of risk.

As for training, you did get pretty good physical training, and you are getting some other education on the side. You haven't been trained specifically for Pariah stuff because the Inquisitor doesn't have anyone that can teach you. There are a handful of groups in the entire Imperium with people for that, and all of them guard their knowledge very closely. Getting education or training specifically for your powers isn't impossible, but it'll be difficult.

That's why we should go take point against the psyker in the room. They're our prey, we are uniquely qualified to basically defeat them by just going into the room first and staring at them menacingly. Get more XP, all that.
Oh, and we could do the whole "mass terror out enemies" thing again, that's gotta be useful for breaching rooms. Can Ariadne do the "push power to limit" thing again, @Horologer ?

According to the newer lore the sisters of silence are still around, if the inquistor found them they could definetly provide training.

We need the experience, and hiding in back the entire time could potentially lead to a negative trait gain. Though I'm not sure how traits work here, negative traits are Never good.

I'm surprised that people are voting so much in favour of the defensive option, thought the safest thing in this fight would be for us to attach ourselves to the psyker like a barnacle and let the rest of the room figure itself out.

That is one of the things she might do if she decides to move more aggressively.

Yeah, I'm working off of new lore. The Sisters of Silence are definitely still around.

Right now, Ariadne knows of two groups that could give her Pariah-specific training: the Sisters of Silence and the Culexus Temple of Assassins.

The Sisters aren't on Terra yet they don't get recalled until shortly before the fall of Cadia.

The vote's tied. If you have strong opinions on this vote, now is the time to share them; I'll be closing the vote in a few hours so I can start writing.

Again, to reiterate, folks: breaching first against the psyker is likely our best bet to:
a. do what we are one of the most qualified people on the planet to do
b. get more XP

Arbites can get a warpfire to the face if they go first. We, well, likely not - we can get lasgun to the face, but that's a different story. And even normies tend to get scared by Blanks anyway, which Ariadne may or may not weaponize if she goes for an aggressive approach.

Hiding behind fighty folks made perfect sense when we were facing gun goons; wizard is why Ariadne's here in the first place. It's our prey, let's not fear it, okay?
