@PoptartProdigy @Sucal

You feel it first: a thrumming wave of invisible energy that washes over you, passing by with seemingly no issues... except, as it passes over the portal, it seems to twist and tear at the portal, causing it to warp and shatter.

@KnightDisciple @Genon @Aranfan

You, however, don't feel anything. Instead, all you see is the portal suddenly warping and disappearing, leaving Bassoon and Bonny still in the forest with Carrak and Mato, Cynthia and Vector in the warehouse.

@Lunaryon

You'd been tagging along as Chronoa had prepared to go into the universe. Once Mato had gone through the portal to the warehouse, she nodded at the Arcosioan who managed portals like this. "Activate it."

He complied, and for a few seconds, the portal flared to life... before something seemed to smash into it and cause it to cease to work.

Frowning, the Arcosian pressed more buttons, but the portal refused to open again. He looked up and shrugged at Chronoa. "Sorry, but something seems to be... blocking the portal, almost. Not sure what."

The Kai frowned. "That's... odd."

@KnightDisciple

"Well that was unexpected"

Almost as if she was talking about something that happened every day rather then a potentially catastrophic event that split the party and sent them into the den of a powerful mage without any actual magical protection, Bonny appeared to be rather blase about the entire thing. There was one thing that was reassuring about the entire event

"At least I got stuck with you rather then Cynthia or Vector! Now from what I remember from my earth movies, this is the part where we steal a car and start acting like its a buddy cop film right?"

Mato immediately goes on the defensive, ready to bolt at the first sign of violence.

"...That's... bad right?" The Majin asked, staring at where the portal once was.

Bassoon finally changes his expression, frowning as the portal snaps closed before the rest of them can go through it. After a moment, he sighs, reached down into a pouch on his belt, and withdraws his Scouter, placing it over his eye. He skims over the backlog of messages on it, wondering how it is Mato's able to send texts so easily.

'Probably cybernetics.' he thinks idly to himself.

Outwardly, he steps forward a bit and kneels down, closing his eyes as he does so. The air stirs around him as he cranks up his Ki sense, trying to use both power and skill to determine just where on this planet Cynthia and Vector are.

"This is where I use the skills available to me to attempt to quickly find our teammates. I don't like this situation and we can't afford to be split up for long."

"They are likely in a magically shielded enviroment, so unless your Ki sense is much better then mine, we won't be able to break through to it without close proximity. Our best chance is to find either another one of the red headed Saiyans, or attempt to recon the situation more until they either make or breakthrough or we stumble across the objective. "

What Bonny didn't point out was that before he left through the portal, the flaming Saiyan made a comment about how his uncle made the portal with magic in the first place. Assuming he wasn't the one that disrupted it and trapped them on two halfs, that meant there was at least two others whose skills could be seen as potent, at least one of home will likely be a time breaker of some sort. While she could likely take it in a magical duel, the other team would be relying on Matos...

She hesitated to call them skills, because the entire thing was frustrating and almost offensive.

"I don't know how strong or precise your Ki sense is, Bonny. And considering how openly you disdain the use of Ki, you'll forgive me for at least trying."

He maintains the pose for the moment, and Bonny can feel the stirring, wispy currents of Ki that he is using as a very, very gentle 'active search'.

"I'm currently able to locate anyone I want to, anywhere in most solar systems. Up to and including most of the Oort Cloud. I don't have multi-light-year range yet, but I'm hoping that focusing all of that ability onto a single planet, looking for signatures I'm familiar with, will at least give us a direction to head in. If we can get a direction, I trust your ability to isolate possible containment areas, and hopefully break us through whatever barrier exists."

He shifts slightly, and his eyes open as he looks calmly at Bonny.

"I'm relying on you to have some tricks up your sleeve to do so. Just as you can rely on me to watch your back in a fight. We're on a mission, so barring someone going completely off the reservation, we're a single unit. And please save any snark about that for until after the mission. I'm getting too old to hear lip from uppity kids."

Is....yeah, he's smirking a bit as he says that.

@KnightDisciple

Giving herself a fake old timer voice herself, she gargled as if she'd chain smoked cigars all her life before filling the void in her lungs with marbles. Shaking her fist, she created a walking stick from pure crystal and used that as she moved along. It was a simple magical trick, especially considering how much she could substitute power for finesse.

"Get off my lawn you grumpy old coot. We already know roughly where they will be, because its naturally the most inconvenient place for us... that's how these missions always work"

Pointing towards the location of the closest magical shield, she sighed dramatically as if she was revealing the secrets of the universe to a child. She was naturally making fun of him, but she did that to everyone.

"We already know those are magical shields, almost certainly with the other guy that has the burning red aura. With our collective luck, its likely going to be one of the shields that is actively besieged by Oozaru, or filled with infiltrators from the ones that like to interfere in our missions. I'm pretty sure if you just listen for the largest concentration of actively used power, you'll find what we are looking for."

She did hope it wasn't more maijin though.

As the portal shuts behind her, Cynthia takes stock of her new surroundings.
Mato immediately goes on the defensive, ready to bolt at the first sign of violence.
So does Vector. She also tries to see if her cybernetics can still pick up the subspace signal of the ship in orbit around the planet.
The 'warehouse', on second look, is more of a... cave system, filled with shipping containers, many of them open. Inside the ones you could glimpse, you could see racks of various weaponry, from fancy-looking rifle blasters to swords and spears. Many of the containers were stacked on top of each other, with bridges and platforms leading from roof to door or from roof to roof. Hanging from the ceilings and on the sides of some containers were silver banners with an insignia of a red flame.

All over the place were woman, children and men, some in silver uniforms, going hither and yon in countless little tasks. The air was filled with the sound of shouted orders, chatter, children crying, pained screaming and running feet. Looking closer, you would notice that most of the people looked rather worn or haggard, as if they hadn't been getting enough food or rest in the last several weeks.

@GenoDragoon
It doesn't seem like it's in orbit.

@KnightDisciple You're unable to pick up on where they are.

"If you're talking about 'Red-Haired Saiyans', I'm right here," Carrak points out irritably, before sighing. "I guess that weird wave thing that Gerrin mentioned happened again... now the portal's never gonna work!"

After that little bout of sounding like a petulant child, the kid sighed and turned to look at both of you. "We'll have to take the long way back to home. I know a way: follow me." He then took off with little to no fanfare.

This looks more like a refugee area than anything else. I don't think we're going to be in too much trouble here, unless we go looking for it. Cynthia 'paths to Vector.

"Oh you are stll there! I figured you went through the portal first. Now what weird wave thing are you talking about?"

Bonny asked almost absentmindedly, as if it didn't matter too much to her. Naturally of course she was paying attention with almost all her senses. She only appeared to be contemplating her crystal cane with all her attention.

He pauses, then floats back to you two. "Gerrin called it a... reality calcifier? Or something? I think he said it stops teleportation and space time magic... I dunno. I'll have to ask him."

He folds his arms, pouting. "So can we please get a move on? I'd like to get home before this runs out."
Mato slowly relaxes, and starts looking around for a sign of anything relevant.
You only see more refugees and soldiers, but what you sense...

It's stronger than last time, but that definitely feels like Gerrin.

Bassoon ceased his search and stands up. Turning to Carrak, he gives a deep, respectful bow.

"My apologies, Carrak was it? I got caught up trying to track down my comrades. If you can lead the way it would be most helpful."

Bassoon most certainly did not grind his teeth at Bonny's less-than-diplomatic handling of the situation. But he wanted to.

"So this wave is something that's happening on a somewhat predictable basis? When did it start?"

Shit.

He broadcasts to Vector and Cynthia. Gerrin is in the area. Suppress. We need to get under cover, now.

He turns and starts heading for a good corner to hide in, dropping his power level to whatever the standard he can sense is.

He then reaches out with passive senses to see if he can feel either Bassoon or Bonny.

The child shrugs. "Dunno. Since the war started, I suppose."
Bassoon made the connection with the name "Gerrin" then at the mention of "reality calcifier". He made no outward sign of his personal revelation though, instead gesturing for Carrak to take the lead.

"Please lead on, Carrak. Our apologies for the delay."

Bassoon will take to the sky and follow Carrak as best as he can.

You can't. After a certain point just beyond the walls of the cave, you can't sense anyone. It seems like you can tell where everyone is inside the cave system, but not outside.

If you're looking to hide, however, the space where you'd arrived, just off the main path seems to be good enough.

"Do you think we could meet this Gerrin?."

Bonny wasn't very happy, considering the situation. She had heard of such calcifiers before, mostly in connection with their first mission. More importantly, in connection with enemy action on their first mission, and from what she could think with such a name, especially with its stated purpose.. there was only one reason why you'd want such a device. Bonny immediately dropped or frvility and fun and started to plan. She really wish she'd had the time to get that technique off Mato, but unfortunately it wasn't the type her gift helped with.

So instead she channeled the slightest bit of mana into the air, causing sound at a level that only a Namekian could hear (hopefully). It would theoretically be rather painful, and she wasn't sure whether or not Bassoon would be able to reply. She really needed Mato around now

"I need every bit of information you have on how this timeline is meant to resolve about five seconds ago. We are about to walk into an enemy stronghold, and I might need to ensure it occurs despite interference."
