Disney's Amphibia

Well, looks like we're going on a mini hiatus after this episode until October 17 and then full hiatus mode afterwards.

In the meantime, with the "Yunnan is Polly and Sprig's Mother" theory currently going around, I'd like to propose a bit of a thought I think could be a more interesting way things could go than that:

What do you guys think?

Nice to see that MicroAngelo will return from Hopping Mall instead of being a one-off joke, and I'm curious to see who Barrel is.
Also, 24 minutes for True Colors?!? I feel you Hoo Pop, I really do.

I'm pretty sure that True Colors is a double reference to the eye glow color association thing involving the humans and to whether or not either Marcy will betray Anne or Sasha will help Ann on the obligatory isekai quest they're on. Also interesting that the first that the First Temple gets a full half hour block, whereas the Second and Third only get the usual quarter.

I mean given that they're supposed to get back to Wartwood at the beginning, I'd kind of presume that Hop Pop would just tell them he's going to meet up to get the box back, then quietly dig it up and bring it back himself. I don't see how the Music Box could stay buried the whole remainder of the season.

And we've already found the video guys!

Also:

Man does that concept art of Andrias hold worrying implications about sharks in Amphibia.

Be ready to bring your questions this weekend guys for this zoom call, though while they'll be answering questions in the zoom call, don't forget that this seems like it will primarily be a panel on show running, so we'll be likely to get more professional answers about the development and the industry than like a show AMA. Either way, don't forget to set your expectations to a reasonable level, and it'll be interesting to see what answer we'll get here.

So looks like we'll have an interview soon guys, and maybe we'll get some interesting details about S2B if possible.

I liked the Toadstool episode, makes you think after the Plantars and Wally, Toadstool is like Anne's fifth best friend in Wartwood.

Just binged through the whole season, and I gotta say I like how Sasha's been handled. She's prideful, reckless, and bullheaded, but does clearly care for those close to her. The problem is that those a fore mentioned traits get in the way of her compassion and she does some pretty callous, hurtful things. More than willing to bet either the Third Temple, or some episode before this whole show is over, will ask her to directly sacrifice someone or put them in a position to be sacrificed.

So there was this whole mess about the Season 2 finale being cancelled for yet unknown reasons, literally at the last second with livestreams already having been set up, with thus far it being suspected it would have distracted from the premiere of the new show The Ghost and Molly McGee.

But apparently by mistake or by intent, it got briefly featured on iTunes which somebody than ripped and leaked the entire episode in 80 second clips on Youtube.

And holy fuck what a season finale. Marcy revealing she knew about the music box's magical power all along and while not sure it worked, was hoping it would after she learned her father got a new job in a different city and would be seperated from Anne and Sasha, and lied to by Andrias that he'd help her to make the box not go home but to other new worlds so they would keep having new adventures and never be apart.

Keith David clearly had a blast doing another villain like Dr. Facilier, with some great lines.
"That's the thing about friends isn't it? The more you love them, the more it hurts when they go. Let me demonstrate that."

And that cliffhanger...
Mary got straight up Aerith'd and Anne and the Plantars are now on Earth minus the music box and Sasha.

Well, about that:

Personally, at this point, i want to believe that like it was some last minute push by some execs who saw the#finishinfinitytrain event and went "I want some of that too" but botched it all up, as that would seem to fit the signs from Matt's reactions on Twitter and I refuse to believe that they could be so incompetent for this to happen for any other reason.

In fairness, I could see the execs wanting this episode 'cleaned-up' because it features a rather brutal scene that could be taken right out of Invincible and be seen as too much for kids, and Braly is unhappy because it will undersell the impact.

@Gul Damar One, I think you should probably still put that under spoilers because of the close implications there, and two, that's really hard to believe as a possible reason because they already finished mixing the episode a while ago going by some of the crew tweets going around, and Disney would have definitely caught and changed that part of the episode back when they approved the episode.

Like, that's a MAJOR part of the episode that clearly got past so many parts in the production line to make it to the final cut and for such a long scene that I find it VERY hard to believe that someone higher up only just got cold feet within the last twelve hours before premiere given how long animation and production takes.

Now that its been properly aired; True Colors is one of the best season finales I have ever seen.

Looks like we are already getting a preview of the next season.

Looks like the next season will be a reversal of the shows premise, with Anne's parents taking a central role and authority's on earth seem to develop an interest in the Plantars. Further more Sasha and Grimes seem to be leading a resistance in Amphibia while Robots sent by Andreas may be a recurring problem. And I expected the show would not leave Marcy dead. No Disney show that comes to mind has ever killed a lead character.

A sneak peak for season 3 has just come out.

I'll admit I teared up during the reunion bit. And oof, Anne, you really shouldn't be so eager to swim in Egypt (although it will make for fun drama).

A rough cut for the series 3 trailer and the animatic for Marcy's theme song takeover have been released:
