A Dragon Age Quest

Cry for the past—only there does glory dwell.
For here, the bow was strung, the sword bequeathed, the vows sworn.
So glory was born within the hearts of elves.
The ancestors of the People built wonders that can scarcely be imagined. Knowledge and power lay at the feet of the Elvhen and their lives stretched unending in the ages of time. An era of peace ruled by just gods who reigned over the mighty civilization of Elvhenan, whose jewel was Arlathan, whom no city could ever rival. But then came man, called Shemlen by the Elvhen, and the Quickening of the blood, the immortality of the People was lost and weakness appeared among the Elves. Hoping to preserve the long lives of their people and to stave off the death which they had never known the People segregated themselves from the barbarians and would not aid or trade with them. The new rising power of humanity overtook the People and a new power arose from the city of Minrathous, the dark Tevinter Imperium. The land of magisters, mage lords who cavorted with demons and evil blood magic, expanded and sunk into the very earth mighty Arlathan. Thus did the People pass into slavery at the hands of Tevinter.
But then came from the South Andraste, a prophet of the Shemlen, who led a great host of barbarians against dark Tevinter. The great hero Shartan, sensing the weakness of Tevinter and no longer wishing to live as a slave, rose up with a great host of the People and together with Andraste's army broke the armies of the Imperium at the Battle of Valerian Fields. Thus did Shartan and Andraste unite and drive a dagger into the heart of the accursed Imperium. However, she was betrayed and burned upon a pyre at the gates of Minrathous. Loyal Shartan leapt forth with a company of the People and drove madly into the Imperial ranks to rescue her but alas were all cut down.
In reward for the service of the People in the wars against the Imperium, the victorious armies of Andraste and Maferath granted the People a new homeland in the Dales. Thus, did the People take the Long Walk from Tevinter to the South, to the Dales. Harried by starvation, banditry, disease, and exhaustion many of the People fell on the Long Walk, resting forever in unmarked graves on the roads of Thedas. But the People had at last come and found a land to call their own. Thus was Halamshiral founded, the End of the Journey.
Here in the Dales the Elvhen have sought to restore the glory of Arlathan. The Evanuris were once again honored, the ancient language studied and spoken again, magic taught as in the days of yore, and art flowing in the lamplit towers of Halamshiral. Our hero is born in this land, the homeland of the Elvhen at the turning of the Age. Tension is building evermore with the humans of Orlais who remember well when the armies of the People did not march forth to aid them in the Second Blight and who in their zealous devotion to their false Maker rage against the People's ancient beliefs. This is the story of an Elf in one of the times of greatest sorrow in the long tale of the People's woe.
Andaran atish'an and welcome to Din'anshiral, the Path of Death, a Dragon Age Quest. This Quest is set during the build up to and the events of the Fall of the Dales from the perspective of a young Elf. This will be the story of their life and tragedy.
Special thanks to @Weygand for inspiring me to begin this project with his wonderful quest What They Say of Orson Thaig. I hope to live up to him in both quality, sense of dread, and breadth of choice, though I will not be following him down the dark road of writing in second person point of view, the forbidden POV.
