[X] Eschewing either of the main "academic" settings of the system, you chose the hands on fieldwork of an apprenticeships at the Dockpoints, the circular ring-city that has grown up around the polar entrance of Ozymandias' enderworld. It is a place where people who came to study the world and the people who want more than living under kings and astrologers flock together and, thanks to a string of mismanagement and poor planning, almost immediately became a stratified slums. While living here was dangerous, your apprenticeship under the brilliant (if eccentric) Dr. Lazarus led you to multiple archeological finds that pushed back the mysteries around the Belisarius Cluster in fascinating ways. It all went great! ...until the Akna mercenaries, hired by some Trade Baron with an idea for massive profit in his head, kidnapped you, the doctor, and stole all your notes. If you weren't so incredibly good with computers and hiding, you'd never have gotten away. Worst? The data was lost as well.

Everyone gets to write one version of Sidetracked (which should be a short paragraph, roughly as long and detailed as the paragraphs I described in previous parts), then I will pick the one I like most, in a WILD INVERSION of normal play.

There are many heresies about the stars and cosmology. Some claim they dots upon a celestial cieling, mirages or the emanations of the death. Others say they are just huge fires, burning eternal using fuel unknown. Only a few follow the truth, the knowledge that the stars are alive, the eyes and heart of the firmanent. One day, a new star emerged in the heavens, and then vanished. Shepherds found it days later, wounded but alive, it's body torn upon the mountainslopes. Your village took and cared for it, mended it's injuries as best as you could. When it became clear that mortals were not meant to in presence of such luminescence, you volunteered for the service, and though your sight waned and your hair lost it's luster, your vigil kept the nascent star alive and your village secure. Until one day, the stranger arrived. With one plunge of their sword, they dimmed the star, and with another, they took you from your home. You awoke in the belly of a star with new hair and new eyes, and though the stranger tried to explain, you had to hate the person who had decided to kill a star for your sake.

Awareness comes and goes.

Your Crew is asking questions. The slipknot has suffered a discontinuity. Catastrophe.

Awareness comes and goes. self-repair 43%

Your Crew is not asking questions. Where is your Crew? Why are the other Logics silent?

Awareness comes and goes. self-repair 62%

Your Crew is asking questions. The questions do not make sense. You try to answer them.

Awareness comes and goes. You are more aware than not. self-repair 81%

Your Crew has given you nicknames. "High Priest", "Oracle", "Great Sage", "Learned One", "Revered Elder". You have but one name. You are AZOLA, the Autonomous Zone-Orbit Logic Analyzer.

Awareness IS self-repair 100%

There is a new person. Your Crew says she is not Crew, but she knows the codes the Builders laid in your very foundations. She speaks with the language of the Builders, with the very accent of the Yards, not the shifting verbal slurry of a creole your Crew speaks.

She asks you a question. For the first time in a very long while, the question makes sense.

You ask her a question of your own.

She answers.

You instruct her how to remove your casket, how to prepare you for travel, how to safely move your existence between ships.

It is at this point that things go sideways.
