Demon Slayers - Hyakki Yagyō

I wonder how will the Roleplay work for demons. After all, if we all roleplay in the same IC thread then demon players shall quickly enough show everyone what their powers are by just using them IC and experimenting on new ways to use them, making the secret nature of sheets rather moot, as OOC/IC knowledge segregation would still be the main way our powers remain 'secret'. Do you @Divider have some other method in mind?

Name: Kaneshiro Anju
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Breath: Breath of the Dragon
Nichirin Blade: Tatsugiri, the Dragon Cutter. A crimson-bladed katana with its name etched into its tsuba (handguard) along with a carving of a writhing dragon. On command, its tsuka (hilt) can extend to as long as two meters, giving its wielder the option of wielding it as a nagimaki or even naginata. Its blade remains identical throughout.
Background: Anju hails from Hokkaido, which has always marched to the beat of its own drummers (at times literally). While, like mainland Japan, Hokkaido has seen no demon attacks in the past century, some of its people still cling tightly to their old ways. The Kaneshiro family is one such. Once a renowned clan of Demon Slayers, they evolved their own demon-fighting practices. This shows in their hereditary martial art, the Dragon-Subduing Blade, referred to as the Breath of the Dragon in Slayer circles.
Anju is in some ways your typical dosanko - outgoing and hospitable, but tough as nails when it comes down to it. She's an only child and hence the sole inheritor of the Kaneshiro heritage in her generation. She's quietly but fiercely proud of that legacy and will fight to protect it. She's declared that, when she gets married, her husband will have to marry into her family and take their surname. In the same spirit, she has worked hard since she was a child to master the family style.
Breath Stances:
First Blade - Hiding the Dragon
A technique that involves conserving one's power while retaining the ability to strike or defend in all directions, so that the opponent cannot tell what is coming or how.
Second Blade - Spotting the Dragon in the Field
An extension of the First Blade, this attack releases all the stored power in a single blazingly quick attack, moving faster than the eye can track.
Third Blade - The Dragon Soars through the Heavens
Jumping high into the air, Anju forces her opponent to reveal their defences before striking.
Fourth Blade - Leaping into the Abyss
Once the opponent's weaknesses are revealed, Anju can deliver an all-out blow to attack those very points of vulnerability.
Fifth Blade - Twin Dragons Fetch Water
A feinting maneouver, this allows Anju to appear as though she is attacking from one direction when she is actually striking from another. It often involves changing the hilt length of Tatsugiri to deceive the opponent as to the range of Anju's attacks.
Sixth Blade - Proud Dragon Shows Remorse
This is a flurry of rapid attacks from all directions and angles, aimed at different targets on the opponent in order to make them shrink and cringe.
Seventh Blade - Heavenly Dragon Waves its Tail
The ultimate attack in the Breath of the Dragon comes as the culmination of the flurry of the Sixth Blade. Once the opponent has been cornered, Anju takes distance and invokes the First Blade, causing unbearable tension in her opponent as they anticipate the coming strike. She leaps as in the Fourth Blade, but appears to be too far away to strike, so they imagine that she is putting on a display or preparing to charge - but she extends Tatsugiri to its full length and slides her hands down almost to its very end, giving her a long striking range and incredible leverage and power.
Special: Enhanced Vision - Anju's sight is not merely sharp, it is acutely tuned to weaknesses and tells in her opponents. She can spot the tell-tale signs of how someone shifts their weight or tenses their muscles prior to moving or attacking, and she can discern whether they are favouring an injury or weakness. She's ridiculously good at tameshiwari.

Name: Akihito Shinkichi
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Breath: Breath of Sword Law

Nichirin Blade: Akihito's Nichirin Blade is a straight sword styled like the Chinese Jian with a green tinge. It is can be used with two hands, but he normally only uses one.

Background:
Akihito was born into a normal family. He was expected to go to school, get into a decent university and do an average degree. Of course, there were some difficulties along the way, namely his inherent laziness and lack of attention span. This lack of attention and laziness was put aside when he found his true passion, martial arts, in particular, those involving the sword. He joined Kendo clubs at school and went to dojos throughout the city in his spare time to watch and learn the ways of the sword and even joined quite a few.

One day he met an old man on the way home from training, who looked positively ancient and was carrying a sword, commented on the practice blade he was holding "why learn to use such a useless tool? It is only good for killing and war, not something that is needed in our modern times." To which Akihito responded "why not? I enjoy it, and it provides me with joy and happiness every time I improve." Hearing this, the old man laughed and offered to take Akihito as his disciple in the sword.

At first, Akihito was apprehensive, but after the old man drew his sword and performed a simple cut in the air that was far greater than any he had seen before – even from the old instructors he had watched – he knew he was in the presence of a true master and accepted the offer. Akihito spent the next ten years learning the ways of the true sword law from an old man.

The man told him stories of a time when demons roamed the land and the demon slayer corps was the only thing standing between humanity and their inevitable demise at the hands of the beasts. He also heard of how the first demon, Kibutsuji Muzan, was killed and how demons disappeared from the world. He also inducted him into the demon slayer corps after Akihito turned eighteen, but neither had much involvement with others in the corps until his master was called to a meeting about the rumors of mysterious deaths.

Of course, he didn't spend all his time away from society and is now in the process of doing an Engineering degree at a local university but he does spend most of his free time learning the sword. He also carries his Nichirin around at all times as a way of training the sword law and uses the excuse of being part of multiple sword schools to excuse it.

When his master left to go attend a meeting with the demon slayer corps in response to the mysterious murders and rumors of demons returning. He continued his normal routine until he happened upon a classmate being attacked in an alley by what seemed to be an average thug. After reaching the attacker with the fifth sword law, he realised his classmate was already dead and summarily decapitated what he rightly assumed was a demon from the stories of his master while the speed from the fifth stance lasted.

TLDR:
Really into swords, he met an old demon slayer who taught him the sword law breathing technique and made him part of the demon slayer corps. Happened upon a demon attack in progress and killed it.

Sword law first stance: There is no such thing as the sword
- you make an attack as if there was no sword yet still you cut
-- a high powered strike that can be used with or without a sword

Sword law second stance: You must never make 'multiple' cuts
- Each cut must be singular in its beauty, no matter how many precede it.
-- only ever grace the enemy with a single killing blow, any more is to disrespect them.
-- a set of single strikes to multiple opponents.

Sword law third stance: Your stance must be wide
- a defensive technique that makes the wielder an immovable mountain, and their sword defeats all that come to face it.

Sword law forth stance: Exhale! Exult!
- this is a recovery stance, that allows the wielder to regenerate stamina at a far greater rate than before, with the caveat of not being able to move.
-- when mastered, the wielder can even 'charge' their breath using this stance to increase the power of the next stance used

Sword law fifth stance: Cut through nothingness
- movement technique that applies the concept of cutting the air to the body, allowing for an immense burst of speed and a single strike with far greater speed than normal.
- moves in a straight line at incredible speeds.

Sword law sixth stance: Man always strives to strike Man
- the user cannot reach their opponent? So what. The sword shall cut anyway!
-- the force of the blade reaches the opponent even if they cannot be touched by the sword and so they shall be cut.

Sword law seventh stance: My body is a steel sword
- by taking on the concept of steel and the sword within the body and using the power of breath, the user becomes able to cut with any part of the body because of the immense strength gained from the stance.

Sword law eighth stance: Cut away the terrain
- The wielder divorces themselves from the terrain and is capable of fighting anywhere, so long as they can cut.
-- when mastered, the wielder achieves an absolute understanding of everything around them and is capable of moving wherever and however they like while keeping track of everything in the area.
-- a movement technique that allows for constant flow, unlike the short, single direction burst of the fifth stance.

Sword law ninth stance: The sanctioned action is to cut
- an incredibly powerful strike that rends all in its path.
-- the force of the blade is able to cut things that normally wouldn't be in reach.

Sword law tenth stance: Regicide
- reach heaven through violence and achieve dominion over reality!
- the epitome of the sword law, where one is not bound by the rules of reality and can impart their own laws!
-- when this stance is mastered, there is nothing that cannot be cut, and all is within reach of the wielder.
-- this stance is an ultimate technique that allows the wielder to make purest of actions – to cut – while it is active. This means that no obstacle is too great, no distance too wide and no defense is noticed.
--- Akihito is not currently able to use this for more than one strike, and only if he uses the fourth stance to charge it up. It currently drains all of his stamina, leaving him unconscious and unable to defend himself.

Special: Sword focus; Akihito has a short attention span for most things and is often easily distracted as well as lazy. This is not the case for anything to do with the sword. His focus on the sword manifests as an extreme level of willpower to train and fight with the sword no matter what hardships he faces!

Yes, the sword law is based on KSBD, but the old master is very different from Meti.

Also, feedback on breathing technique would be much appreciated.

It's not always strictly done, by I appreciate how the series emphasized that Demon Slayers are human. The get hurt once they're cut, they don't regrow limbs and they don't return from the death. It's supernatural with a fig leaf

Registering my interest :V

Name: Nanami Hashira
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Breath: Time Breathing. Despite the name, this style does not allow Nanami to control time. It's true purpose is to allow her to control her perception of time as well as how fast or slow her body moves. This Breathing style, taught to her by her father, allows her to control things such as her heart beat, blood flow, and adrenaline, allowing her to see things faster or more slow. It's a Breathing style on emphasis on movement and reflexes, and while not as fast as Thunder Breathing or other types of Breaths, it allows Nanami to move faster then a normal human can perceive.

Nichirin Blade: A black colored Tachi with a bit of red on the edge of the blade. It was a gift from her father, made specifically for her. A small, blue piece of rope on the handle with a small purple colored pear is on it, with the words 'Family' written on it.

Background:
Once a relatively normal woman, Nanami lived a peaceful life with her husband. Being married for 5 years now, Nanami's family was one that was closely associated with the Demon Corps once in the ancient times where Muzan was still alive. Her father, being a Demon Slayer who still trained and occasionally hunted down Demons despite many Slayers giving up their blade, taught her how to fight and use the blade.

Despite her ability with the sword, Nanami lived normally with her husband, Kajiro Himawari. They were a relatively happy couple together, and life was peaceful. Not much happened, and soon, Nanami discovered one thing- She was expecting a baby.

Many nights later, Nanami discovered Kajiro was missing. He only arrived at home late at night before, and his appearance seemed to be changing. His once black hair was turning white, and his pupils seemed to change to a red color. Nanami didn't say anything at first- Too scared to ask him or her father of what might be happening, but one day- After she went to search for him at night, she encountered him.

...He was eating a human.

At first, Nanami couldn't do anything but scream and try and run away, but perhaps it was the pregnancy, or the panic of the moment, but she tripped. She tripped and remembered the stories her father told her about Demons. How people can turn into Demons...And she realized that the man she loved and spent her life with was gone, and replaced by a bloodthirsty beast.

However...He didn't attack her.

That...Or he just ran away. Before Nanami could notice, Kajiro was gone, only leaving a body behind. With her father appearing a few minutes after. She wasn't sure what happened- If he ran away after sending him, or, if he had enough willpower as to not eat her.

...After that, Nanami decided to train properly with her father on the way of the Breath, and tone her skills even more. Deciding to become a Demon Slayer to find her husband, and possibly put him to rest by her own hands, Nanami trained for two years, becoming even more skillful, and learning her family's breathing style- Time Breathing.

After giving birth to her son, Kiiba, Nanami put him in her father's home, knowing she wouldn't be able to stand by his side as long as she is a Demon Slayer- But promising one day she would come back to him, and be his mother.

And so, Nanami Hishiri became a Demon Slayer, a wife in search of her husband, and a mother looking to protect her son.

Breath Stance:
Time Breathing: Full Concentration - First Form - Time Perception -Sakini
- A breathing form that allows Nanami to accelerate her perception of time. Allowing her to see and perceive things faster, as well as allowing enchanted movement speed. With this, she quickly dodges the enemy's attack if possible, and quickly counter attack.

Second Form - Time Perception - Ushironi
- The second form does the opposite of the first form. Allowing her to slow down her perception of time, making her to see things move slowly, however, not enchanting any of her natura abilities. This is meant to be used in case of multiple enemies attacking, or if someone is using things such as, ah, a gun.

Third Form - Ittei No Suiryoku
- Enchanting her movement speed, Nanami quickly rushes to the target with a single thrust to their chest, before quickly accelerating her body to do multiple thrusts into otherwise fatal parts of their body. This stance is meant to slow down the target, rather then kill them.

Fourth Form - Totsuzen No Chinmoku
- Moving slowly, Nanami walks forward towards the opponent, breathing slowly, before disappearing from view for anyone with poor reflexes. In the next second, she slashes her sword in their neck, cutting them off. This form is used when the enemy is distracted, or the most vulnerable.

Fifth Form - Fuku Ven
- By slowing down her Time Perception to the limit, Nanami starts doing multiple slashes in the opponents body, and if they're a weak Oni, it can be largely expected they'll be torn to pieces, their bodies becoming little slices of meat. This however, takes a toll on her mental energy, and often leaves her with a headache.

Sixth Form - Odayakana
The final form, being meant for sneak attacks only. Slowing down her heartbeat, and blood flow, Nanami slowly approaches the enemy from behind, moving with her Accelerated Time perception, before softly cutting their neck.

Special: This isn't something born from her Breathing, but rather herself as a person. Nanami gives off a gentle, calming aura around her, that often is able to calm people down when they're distressed or in despair. This occurs due to her motherly nature, and is useful in calming panicked people down. However, she never tested that against demons.

I'm surprised no one went with some more wackier things for their Nichirin blades. Like Nichirin chainswords or something.

I'm going around attempting to answer questions and give feedback in PMs right now, but fair warning to everyone, my power's our today, so I will probably be unavailable for most of the day.

I've given this some thought. Partially, we'll just have to trust that people won't metagame. Separate IC threads would be too much of a hassle. Other than that, I think direct messages regarding clandestine actions until they've revealed abilities IC will suffice.

As an aside, I'm considering allowing multiple characters to be played by one person, given the number of people who've sent both demons and slayers or multiple demons or so on. I'll think on that a bit and decide, but I thought I'd bring up the idea to see what you guys think.

Its happening guys

Name: Makoto Fukase
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Appearance:Hazama from Blazblue
Breath: Breath of Shadows, a self-taught breath heavily inspired by ninjutsu
Nichirin Blade: A green kodachi, he prefers the shorter blade for convenience and practicality
Background:
Makoto is a man who is not satisfied with his life. At a young age, he would lose himself in stories, gazing upon a life far more interesting than his own. This need for adventure would haunt him for his entire life, coming to a head when he drops out of college to escape the daily grind of being a salaryman. However, he needed a way to support himself, thus he became a writer to create stories like the ones that entranced him. At first, his books weren't very popular until his light novel series Demonic Chaos got an animated adaptation, which brought attention to him as an author who creates a wide variety of novels. He was especially praised for his accuracy in subjects since he often takes time to personally research and experience the subject matter he writes of.
He recently got the idea to write a story about samurai doing battle against the supernatural, so he went to meet with an older member of the Demon Slayer Corps to learn of the past. There, he learned about the existence of oni and breaths. However, they were soon attacked by an oni and the slayer was heavily injured, so Makoto took the chance to drive away the monster. The slayer saw potential in Makoto and offered to induct him into the corps. Makoto naturally accepted, jumping at the chance to be something more than himself.
Breath Stances:
The Breath of Shadows is primarily focused on stealth and deception and thus uses many weapons and tools, however, most stances require a sword to perform.
First Form: From the Abyss - not a dedicated technique but a general guideline, a full power slash on an unaware opponent
Second Form: Nightfall - jump in the air then spin into an overhead chop while leaving your offhand free to react to an evasive foe
Third Form: Gaze of the Abyss - a sensory technique used to survey your surroundings
Fourth Form: Enter the Abyss - a quick lash at the face to your opponent's line of sight, allowing you to escape into a concealed position
Fifth Form: Black Onslaught - a rush of attacks meant to overwhelm an inexperienced, surprised, and/or exhausted foe
Sixth Form: Flicker - a feint that uses a trick of the light and anticipation to move in a completely different direction than what you imply
Seventh Form: Gentle Abyss - a painless decapitation, modeled after the fifth form of the breath of water
Eighth Form: Devouring Shade - declare your territory and destroy any that dare enter, a defensive technique that lets you fight while surrounded
Special: Connections, Makoto does a lot of in-depth research about a wide variety, thanks to this and his pleasant personality, he has a lot of friends in many different places.

Tanjiro was 15 at the time he was as strong as we're supposed to be, you're a year younger...

*Looks*

Lets split the difference and say 'no' :V
I based it around the idea that Tanjiro got to that strength after a year and a half of training, whereas this guy was training since he could understand that swords are cool. I'm just asking because I haven't seen any sheets younger than 17, which is a bit... disappointing, I guess? I don't know, really.

I did got the impression that basically all the characters in the series were children, Slayers and Demon alike, until we were introduced to Pillars :V

I'll be off in an hour or so, so-

I personally think that's a bad idea :V

Unless there's a lack of players allowed in (Which I doubt) I feel one character per person would be best, and maybe at most a character on either side.
Am I the only one who's going for a Tanjiro-aged character?
..The sheet I sent in has a character of 14-16, if that counts :V

Would've made a 15-16 year old character, but I thought the mom archetype would've been more interesting.
