Deadblooded: Vampires and their Guardian Heroes

[X] Walk out like everything's fine and you're all better. That might keep your gang in the dark, but would that work on whatever doctors are here?

Nothing to see here citizens! Definitely not someone waking up from the dead, nuh uh!

While I suppose 'Illustrator' and 'Office Lady' aren't incompatible, and she'd be poor enough to consider working two jobs, the idea was to select only one day job, since Minako also spends time roaming with a street gang.
I couldn't decide so it was supposed to be this or that but it doesn't look like either is getting any votes.

I've been thinking, would people prefer it if I tried to update once per day or once every two days, to give people who can't make it every day more of a chance to reply for each vote?

Also, I've remembered that I said in the intro past that Minako's hair was much longer than before, a common side-effect of vampirisation. But it shouldn't be too hard to write up an excuse for her, or just have her hide the hair in a cap, if 'Walk out like everything's fine' wins.

Well anyway, votes closed, update should be soon.

[X] Head out into the corridor, but try to find a concealable or inconspicious weapon first in case things get rough.
    - [X] Wait, why do you need a weapon, you're a vampire now!
[x] Much as you don't want to, use your vampire powers to turn into a bat and fly out the window. But can Maria make it down the building.

"Problem with trying to convince my friends I'm still fine though, is how do I explain how long my hair just got? I mean, that's a dead giveaway you've been turned into a vampire right there, for some reason. Think it's to do with what happens to corpses after death" you shook your head as you found yourself getting sidetracked.
You then turned to gaze into a mirror in an adjacent bathroom. Picking up a blade hidden in a cupboard under its sink, you-
[ ] Put it down, you think you'll keep your long hair. It'll raise suspicion sure, but you can just tell your gang you got an extension before you were attacked.
- [ ] Though you'd at least put it in a ponytail.
[ ] Cut it to shoulder-length, with your hair's waviness it'd almost make you look like an old-fashioned movie star.
[ ] Cut it to a bob then straighten it out, practical but not too severe.
[ ] Go for a pixie cut, you're the practical type. Though oddly you'd think it'd make you look more feminine than if you let it stay long.
[ ] Don't hold back, give yourself a buzz cut to show your determination, awaken your inner Furiosa.
[ ] Write-in.

(If cutting it short)
[ ] Do it yourself.
[ ] Ask Maria to cut your hair for you.

"Well, an... intriguing style choice, to say the least" Maria merely muttered.

Afterwards, you walked out and down the blank-white corridor to see two boys, Julio Aragones and Arcadio Roca, you knew well. Julio was a small, cross-carrying Mestizo speaking more softly, while Arcadio a taller, more noticeably Native and outspoken type, and both were decked in spiked leather jackets and in the midst of a heated argument with a couple of white-coated, masked doctors.
In fact, could you see any skin on these doctors? Eh, I can write it off as a medical precaution, for now anyway.

"We're her closest friends, yet you tell us we can't see her?!" Arcadio's low and booming voice echoed.

"Please Sir, we beg of you" Julio tried to speak as he gazed up at the doctors.

"Hospital's undergoing emergency shutdown, official orders" intoned one of the doctor "Furthermore, this is an emergency wing-".

"Hey, do I look like an emergency to you?" You barked out as you strode right past the doctors towards your gang members "Hey guys, wait where's Luna?".

"Ah, Minako. Ah yes, Luna's on guards duty at our meeting place" Arcadio said instinctively, before he looked more closely at you and whispered "It is, hmm, comforting to know you'd made such a swift recovery, and yet...".

"See, told you Minako would been fine! Huh wait, you're not trying to imply she's been-" Julio at first was beaming, before he then gasped "No wait, something like that could never happen to Minako!".

Crap, is Arcadio already getting suspicious? You twitched, though luckily you were soon given a distraction.

"Do not let appearances deceive, we do not send patients to the emergency ward lightly" the other doctor said as both of them stared down at you. "We request you return to your room immediately, patient, your defiance will only make your condition worse".

[ ] Make a break for it with Julio and Arcadio.
[ ] Those sounds like fighting words to you! Take on these doctors
- [ ] Barehanded...
- [ ] Or with the closest thing to a weapon you can reach.
[ ] Comply and get back to your room
- [ ] And try sneaking out the window.
- [ ] And eh, wait till morning. Sunlight can seal away a vampire's strengths, but you don't think it'll outright kill you, especially since Lima in winter's pretty cloudy.
[ ] Whistle to Maria, hope she'll take it as a cue to cause a distraction.
[ ] Write-in.

Author's Note: This update wasn't as quick as I'd like, had a bit of Writer's Block on this one.

"Yeah, think I can take care of myself right now. Let's ditch this dump" you shot back at those doctors before turning around to Julio and Arcadio. With them having gotten your cue, the three of you promptly sprinted off, the last thing you three heard in that hospital was those doctors frantically shouting behind your backs.

You sped out onto the top of a long, sloping downhill street, not too crowded but not as deserted as you'd like either, what with Lima the city of eight-million rarely being in the mood for sleep.
One especially unwelcome presence was a shadow-shrouded who came so close to stabbing you in the dark, your instinct only getting you out of its reach just in time. What the-? Did those hunters sic this out-of-nowhere guy on me? your first thought was.

"Mina!" You heard both Julio and Arcadio exclaim upon this attack, yet as they then fumbled around to grasp whoever'd attacked you, they could only grab onto more darkness.

But with a lightning-fast strike of her knee, Maria all of a sudden appeared to knock your attacker straight into one of the streetlights.
Seriously? I mean yeah, she helped me out, though I really could've taken that guy down on my own, but she really have to show up right in front of my gang so soon? You concealed a snarl as you held that thought. I mean, I know they're my friends, but, but if they piece together that I'm a vampire...

Maria tried to pick your attacker up by his collar, but he'd already sprung up out of your way. Still, you could at least now see who he was, a... a matador? Well that was what the white pants, green epaulet-studded jacket and thin silver blade he carried told you.

"Your swiftness, your stealth" this matador whispered at Maria "To think I, of the Espadas del Sol, could be matched by a mere ghoul. But it matters not" he intoned as he again brandished his blade and cloth "You and your sire I can at least ensure a bloodless demise, unlike the corpses your kind leaves in its wake!".

"My speed and stealth?" Maria cocked her head and flashed a wicked grin "Oh they're nothing really, even if it seems I've got a habit of kicking those who think they're top dog of their kennel".

Wait, did this guy say he was part of...?
"Hold on, Espadas del Sol?" Julio spoke up, with what he said next making you wince "W-we've heard the name, and it's an honour to meet you! You're far greater vampire hunters than we could ever hope to be, yet... We're but a minor-league hunters' gang I know, but please let us assist you in fighting off this ghoul!".

"Hmm, it's indeed an honour, but should we not be heading back to Luna right now?" Arcadio brought up "Not to mention Julio, it is likely this hunter was he who just attacked-".

In response to your gang, the matador just laughed and cut off Arcadio with "Hah, hilarious! I was merely stationed to ensure no vampire left the hospital, yet the moment you get out, you ask me to cut down the very vampire you helped-"
Crap, one more word from this guy, and I'll be outed!

[ ] Attack him yourself before he can finish that sentence.
[ ] Say something to interrupt him (write-in).
[ ] Accuse him of simply being a vampire agent, the ones you've heard some vampires hire to dispose of their rivals.
[ ] Well, you suppose you can no longer hide the truth. Remind your gang however that you'll be back to normal once you track down and stake whoever bit you.
[ ] Trust that Maria can cut him off in time.
[ ] Run off before your friends can turn on you.

Renagage Option.

[X] Run off before your friends can turn on you.

The longer we stick around, the more likely it is we get outed

Not willing to stick around and see what happens then

The issue, I think, is that we are going to be outed no matter what. That seems like it is a foregone conclusion.

The fact that this guy was outside waiting with our friends makes it seem like the QM either wants us outed or wants us to absolutely work to not be outed.

And, there is only so many times it'll work under those conditions. So, yeah, I rather get it over with, now, under our own power where we can shape the narrative.

I will say that, I feel like once we can turn back after killing the guy who turned us, that this super famous and super experienced hunter guy will say that that is not a thing.

Actually I wrote in the matador guy more out of writers' block than anything else, though I did you want walking out of hospital to not simply be that easy.
It's not so much that I want you outed, more that I wanted the possibility of being outed to feel like a real threat, as opposed to a minor inconvenience.

I will say that, I feel like once we can turn back after killing the guy who turned us, that this super famous and super experienced hunter guy will say that that is not a thing.

If by 'hunter guy' you mean that matador, he in particular isn't that famous or experienced, more that the organisation he works for (Espadas del Sol/Swords of the Sun) is, at least in the Latin world.

Goddamit matador!

Was thinking of closing the votes, but I figured I might just wait a little longer, a couple of hours maybe?
