Crossroad Blues (MHA/Worm AU) [Overhaul SI]

This has been a really interesting start; Chisaki's POV has been great to explore here and Amaki's was a good way to act as a counterpart.

I see that Oni Lee is less copy-errored here while still being subdued whicch feels quite fitting.

I look forward to seeing where this story might go

I wonder if he could mix himself with the endbringer flesh

Wouldn't that require him understanding it?

Because he's an otherwise frightening and amazing villain that actually made Shigaraki grow and the author wanted for us to cheer as Midoriya beat the ever-loving shit out of him? XD Still, for as amazing as Overhaul's Quirk is, it's nothing compared to Amy's. On the one hand, Overhaul isn't Manton limited and can affect the user, while Amy literally makes any and all biology her bitch.
You vastly overestimate Amy's power.

Insanely overestimate.
Overhaul makes Amy look like a renaissance fair reject in every god damn situation.

Amy has to concentrate do use her power and most likely be sedentary while using it. Overhaul can just delete stuff, no concentration necessary then go onto the mulch the next sucker in his line of sight. Or create a whatever he needs out of anything cause I'm pretty sure he can make biological into non-biological if needed.

Overhaul is Amy's power in Carol's worst fear and trauma induced nightmares with the actual personality of Marquis too.

Yeah Carol might try to kill him flat out.

Indeed. Her biggest advantage is that she doesn't just see what goes on inside the bodies of the things she touches, but she understands it. She might now know all the medical jargon for the things, but she gains a true understanding of things. Kai Chisaki on the other hand had to study to understand the human body and what to do with it, but he gains the same basic awareness of the things he touches with his power, or he wouldn't know what parts to manipulate to do what he does.
This is false.

Nilbog is canonically superior in biological knowledge than Amy is, and that's because her power doesn't do shit in the comprehension section so much as she's learned by doing and she's functioning off of practically blueprints in knowledge.

I think all three of the powers have different advantages, disadvantages, strengths and weaknesses relative to each other. Nilbog seems to have absolute control of all his creations, but also a distinct theme that may or may not be innate. We don't know enough to say for sure how he compares to the other two. Amy takes time to manipulate things, Kai does it basically instantaneously, but Amy has power granted understanding of biology that Kai canonically doesn't, despite that making zero sense with how complicated some of the things he pulls off are. Amy is also supposed to be able to create superplagues and Master type effects, things that should be possible with Kai's power, but which are never brought up, even though the latter would be extremely useful for him, but Kai can work with inorganic material. That being said, our villain protagonist here has none of the self-imposed rules that limit Amy, and apparently much more willingness to use his power to it's fullest.

Not sure if he would want Trainwreck or bother with mercs like Circus, let's not mention Uber and Leet either. We already know he's not gonna touch the hot potato that is the Travelers either.
The Travelers are definitely not on the table. For obvious reasons, and even Kai wouldn't want to get within ten feet of Noelle without Amy or a Triumvirate-level cape on hand. An Echidna-clone Kai is not something anybody wants to deal with, let alone Kai himself. Circus and Trainwreck are on the table, though that's actually whether Kai would want to bother. He might try his hand with Trainweck; after all, who doesn't want a tinker?
I wonder if he could mix himself with the endbringer flesh
To address this, plus other arguments regarding who's power trumps who else's, Kai holds a THEORETICAL advantage over Amy and possibly Nilbog, and it is a very small advantage. While Amy's power doesn't let her see what's happening inside the bilogical thingie she's touching, she can manipulate the biology to an absurd degree. Supposedly she's better than Nilbog, but consider the latter's achievements in creating an army and taking over an entire city, the only way to know for sure is to actually pit the two together. I'm under the opinion Amy could surpass Nilbog if she put her mind to it...and if she was studying under Riley, because who better to teach Amy how to build her cute, cuddly murder monsters than Bonesaw-sensei?

As for Kai himself, the reason I say he has an advantage is two reasons. First is that he can shape both organic and in-organic matter however he wants, whether it's breaking it down or putting it back together. As stated, of course, he would require an intense understanding of what it is he's screwing around with. He can't just remade shit willy-nilly. As for the second reason, and keep in mind this is a VERY BIG FUCKING IF, EMPHASIS ON THE IF!, he can merge with another person. If I operate under the assumption Kai would also inherit the parahuman abilities of whoever he's merged with, he'd be even more broken, especially if he merged with Amy.

Again, this is a big, BIG ASS IF, and I'm not certain it would work. Hypothetically, if we go by the assumption Kai gains the parahuman abilities of whoever he's merged with, and if he was merged with Amy, he could potentially mix organic and inorganic however he wished, potentially surpassing Amy's own ability to manipulate biology.

Once again, hypothetical and huge ifs all around. Nothing's set in stone.

As for the bit about the Endbringers, yeah, HARD PASS. I'm doubtful that even with Amy's help, Kai wouldn't be able to mix it with his own body, and I'm not sure he'd even want to. God knows what it'd do to his body, especially if it was someone like the Simurgh.

Overhaul Simurgh Bomb anyone?

I'm honestly more of a fan of Oni Lee with a bit of personalty. Not enough to be his own character, but enough that he's not a constant yes-man or suck up. And Amaki is really fun to write, since she more or less represents how the old ABB reacts to the new ABB, or rather the Shie Hassaikai and having a boss completely different from Lung.

Loving the positive feedback so far. This is my first time writing a villain-centric character, so I was a little worried.

Still wondering how tf it's so popular. It's a self-insert centric for god's sake. Don't people hate that sort of thing?!

Oh yeah, for anyone who cares, I updated Brockton Knight.

Eveyone hates a SI story till it is writen by a good writer. When people say they hate SI stories they are talking about the bottom of the barrel massive harem with half angel half devil powers mix with primordial dragon stories. If you look at fanfiction and select any fandom with follows or kudos or something there is usually a few in the top 20. Plus your story seems interesting and in these genres if you are not rethreading the canon it is usually great. If you read a tenth walker in lord of the rings you read them all. Besides we(or atleast I) read fanfiction to see about different things that we like about the world, different aspects different perspectives and different powers and a good SI can give it all. As long as it is not rehashing of canon.

Ugh, this frustrates me so much. I can't find any good active fics on FFnet anymore because everything over 1k follows is either pandering, wanky bullshit, or cursed with such poor grammar and editting that it makes your post look professional.

That aside, the explanation of how Kai pulled this off was nice and simple, and skips over the narrative minutiae of needing to show exactly how he got away with it. I'm not sure if the 'scratchy' look of material that remains after Kai Overhauls inorganic matter in BHA is just artistic flourish or not, though.

Surprised Akuma didn't instate an age requirement for the brothels - he talks up a lot about minimizing heat, and there's not much that gets people's blood boiling like child prostitution, 'willing' or otherwise. The casinos and dens too for that matter, but that's likely an enforcement issue.

I really want to see Akuma kidnap Dinah before Coil gets her. The parallels of Overhaul/Eri and Akuma/Dinah would be a fun dig into their characters, although Dinah is much older than Eri. Plus, if Akuma has a good enough plan for how to keep her safe or relatively unharmed, I could see Dinah willingly being 'held hostage' by Akuma. Better the devil you know won't drug you to the gills, and all.

Kai holds a THEORETICAL advantage over Amy
I mean he holds a very real advantage over Amy in a fight, because he can just dissolve amy before she can work her power. Kai's is a quicker draw. Amy could fuck him up no doubt but she'd need a good deal longer than Kai's dissolving touch would take.

This is all that matters in a parahuman fight.

If that's true he would need to spell that out for anyone to know, Protecterate and other gangs will just assume the Shie Hassaikai is still asians only. There are other parahumans still running around that he could pick up, most notable would be Spitfire if Faultline hasn't gotten to her first. If Kai wanted he could just kidnap Dinah before Coil if working with him is untenable, keeping her out of Calverts hands helps him as well after all. Not sure if he would want Trainwreck or bother with mercs like Circus, let's not mention Uber and Leet either. We already know he's not gonna touch the hot potato that is the Travelers either.

If i remember right, Faultine poached Spitfire after she tried to join the undersiders and was nearly killed by Rachel during introduction, which Tattle let happens just cuz she didn't want Coil to have access to the girl who belch napalm. And since author said the Casino heist already happened, then the interview already did. Because i doubt that they would have time to audition someone when on the run from Lung.
SO right now Spitfire either already joined Faultine or is currently being scouted by her.
For Circus and Trainwreck, i remember them being on Coil's payroll with Trainwreck being his mole in the Merchants. Enrolling them would be a two edged blade, as Coil WILL use your operations to cover his. Not that he already didn't do it.
For Uber and Leet, what Chisaki wants to do with the ABB is completely NOT in their theme so you would need to have some serious shit on them to make them work seriously for Hassaikai. And that would be unwilling work at best.
Finally, for Dinah, the parallels with Eri would be WAY to close to home for Chisaki to not do it. And Dinah would probably cooperate if she just ask herself wether Kai or Coil will treat her better. Problem is, by "willingly" kidanpping her, you throw yourself in Calvert's crosshair and you really don't want someone as ruthless and hard to counter as Coil to be mad at you while you are busy re-making your gang. Kai will already have a lot in his plate with the dissidence in his ranks, recruiting his other Precepts and fend off the 88 and heroes who WILL come sniff around as soon as the news of Lung dying get out.

Not necessarily. Kai couldn't care less if the potential recruit is Asian or not. If you have value or are useful to him, you're in.
Well if i can put a small contribution let me drop names for potential recruits for Kai's 8 Bullets. Uh. Just saying but aren't people gonna accuse him of trying to pay hommage to the SlaughterHouse Nine once they make a traduction on Dragoogle ? That would be mighty fun when PHO try to ship him with Jack Slash or lauch rumors that Kai is courting Shatterbird. Or Crawler, depends on the tastes. ^^

Potential recruits profile: (i can't think of any Worm-native character so all of them are from other fiction)

-Sakazuki "Akainu": from One Piece. The guy got an Asian name, is a heartless bastard with a Magma Breaker power, he is really stern with a no-nonsense attitude. A grumpy guy in his 40s who lived in ABB territory and triggered because of Lung (but didn't dare to attack for fear of retribution on his family) and now want to aid Kai to set the Hassaikai in a better direction than the ABB ever took. Perfect for a right hand man if Lee is his left one( since even though Lee is a VERY good enforcer and you gave him a bit of personality, he still is a bit too much of a follower to take real Initatives). On a personnal level, he despise the heroes and see them as incompetents and sellouts. Assault has it the worse since he's quite goofy on the job. Ofc his power is not as bullshit as the Original Akainu but not to far.

-Charlotte Linlin "Big Mom": from OP as well. Not as giant as the real one. Not as obese as well. She is nearing 40 years old. She is a "madame" from one of the ABB' previous brothel. She Triggered in an Empire attack on her brothel. Hates Crusader from 88 cuz he was the main attacker. Doesn't like Brandish from New Wave (who does?)because of her holier than you attitude towards unlucky people . She also don't like Oni Lee a lot because of his previous service to Lung. She hid her powers to not serve Lung cuz she saw how he treated his people. She wants to protect the girls in her establishments. She Makes a deal with Kai to work for him in exchange of being in charge of the Hassaikai's close houses. Kai accepts cuz that is one Money making thing off his shoulders Now put in competent hands. Her Master/Trump powers are based on her One Piece self: she gives sentience and power to an object/concept with a maximum of either 3 or 5 at the same time. Most of the time she uses a Cloud and a Sun to attack and keep a Coat for protection. And they all call her Mama. Thus her Cape Name.

-Khada Jhin "Virtuoso": from league of legends. He fit quite well since he's the only LOL chamion from Ionia (LOL's japachina) that is both a bad guy even in Worm standards and is not a super edgy scythe/katana wielding darkSasuke. Instead he's just a psycho. In the story, he is a Tinker, around 30 years old. His speciality is weapon/tools with "artistic" flair. His tinkertech are his LOL weapons : a handgun, a seeking grenade, a gory landmine and a fuck-you sniper riffle that makes holes in buildings (go see his Bloodmoon skin art) . Plus whatever you give him. He joins Hassakai cuz he got the HOTS for Bakuda. He is a serial killing tinker who saw the aftermath of Cornell's bombing and creamed himself. He thinks Bakuda and he are "linked" in their love for "artistic" murder. He sees Oni Lee as a potential rival since he duplicates Bakuda's childrens. She just think he is creepy but doesn't dare telling him cuz she likes living. Has some kind of worshipping loyalty (the Yandere kind) for Kai due to his power's bloody results. His interractions with other tinkers in the Bay are also both peculiar and hostile. Especially Arsemaster, his self proclamed Nemesis. They hate each other because their specialities are complete opposite: Jhin is all about flamboyant and showy "Art" while Armsy believes in his efficiency.

-Inugami: from nurarihyon no mago. No civilan name in the original work So gonna need to give him one. Is an asian Teenager living in old ABB territory and used to go to winslow. Used to have a dog. Really loved the dog. Dog died. Triggered because ... Bitch Trio mocked his dead dog? Usually them in winslow. Or can be in a gangfight. ( it's Worm okay? It has to be horrible for your faith in humanity). Gained Changer powers. Transform in a REALLY big dog. Bigger than Rachel's but still have fur so doesn't look like a lizard/rhino. Once in dog form, gain a Breaker power making him more resistant to damage. He Can Change only his head, then detach it and make it float away from his body. If only the head is changed, it's indestructible ( to Alexandria level but not Siberian) but the body is vulnerable. The head got a limited range to go away from the body. Body can move on it's own but doesn't see so it bumbs in everything. Doesn't like Taylor cuz her insect range is wider then his head floating one. Has a Big crush on Rachel. Think Tattletale is a Real Fox. Absolutely HATES Hookwolf. Is really loyal. Kinda is the comic of the group until fight starts and he starts munching on people left and right.

-King Shark: from The Flash series and Suicide Squad film. He is a case 53 who appeared in the bay. Kai recruits him to oversee the docks operation. A bit simple-minded but got real anger management problems. Is Rated as a middle level Brute for his strengh and tough hide, Thinker for his super accurate senses, in water environnement gains Mover and Blaster/Shaker hydrokinesis powers ( see fishmen from one piece). Plus a Master 0 for how pant-shitting terrifying a bipedal shark trying to eat you feels. Sees the Rig in "his" Bay as an eyesore (Shrek style). Stays away from Akainu because he gives him dry skin. Gets along well with Inugami. Only eats meat because he thinks eating fishes would make him a cannibal.

Quite the Roster for the Hassaikai, with Akuma/Overhaul as leader, Akainu as right handman, Oni Lee in seconds place, Big Mom in support, Bakuda to arm the Gangers, Jhin for the special ops, King shark as Dockmaster and Inugami as the first Enforcer.

That's it for my character profiles, i tried to give them small bios to integrate them in Worm verse and not be all "hey, hey put that guy in your gang he is awesome!" and give you all the work make them fit in Brockton PLUS having to give them all personalities and personnal goals to be in Hassaikai other than Lee's "oh you kill Lung, you strong, you Boss now". I personally really liked making the Big Mom, Jhin and Inugami Profiles.
NO obligation to put them in the story, but if you do you can point toward here so people can have a look at the characters sheets. With that, you got a small premade team from wich you can choose to fill your open spots in the Bullets.

I think Kai could recruit Trainwreck and Circus legitly. If he's anything like Overhaul, it wouldn't matter if they're on Coil's payroll. The OG 8 Bullets and those under Kai's Shie Hassaikai were goddamn fanatical.

As for Dinah... Well, not too sure to be honest. Like everyone pointed out, getting Dinah on board has its own ups and downs. On the one hand, powerful precog on par with Contessa. On the other hand, Kai will be on Coil's crosshairs, and I wouldn't put it past Calvert to set things up so the Shie Hassaikai comes into conflict with the other gangs, if not the PRT sooner rather than later.

Quick question on Kai's power, does he have a harder time affecting fluids in general and air in specific? He seems to cause large splashes whenever he deconstructs a thing with liquid in it.

I THINK he can screw with water? Air's the only thing he can't affect with Overhaul.

Not always the only things, I'd say, but it's always pretty important and it's definitely all Kai would need. The thing is, unless she's gotten things set up, or organic allies to work with, Amy's just a pretty mediocre Striker in a fight. Dangerous enough to be worth considering, but nowhere near the level she could be, and nowhere near Chisaki Kai's level.

She's pretty much the antithesis of a stereotypical fighting Striker. She needs to maintain touch instead of just touching to work her power.

I think if she gets the drop on Kai, she'd have him pretty beat. But that stands for just about everyone except Brutes.
Or anyone who wears inorganic armour with no openings, or just isn't organic. And quite a few Brutes have no defense against her.

Interesting, very interesting.

I would recommend a pimp cane as a weapon as your primary weapon.

If he really needs to understand materials in order to manipulate them, he'd better have a custom-made weapon that's easy to carry.
Just think of a combo of Edward (FMA) with diamond blades, Gin (Bleach) not being totally useless, and Trevor (Castlevania NX) able to manipulate the characteristics of the whip.
