"Probably something that wants to scare us. Probably not eat us, or it could have done that easily while we were asleep." Daniel grunted in reply, his eyes involuntarily darting towards Jack as he spoke. Although he knew that the marks weren't any sign of danger, being in the room with unsettling Jack and his clear taste for meat... well, now he'd put the thought into his own head, Daniel couldn't help but feel some fear that deer might not satisfy his hunger.

Unconsciously, Daniel reached beneath his top and wrapped his fingers around the Shard. He was tempted to ask it for a way to protect himself from Jack, incredibly so, but despite the feel of the Shard's prisoner eagerly reaching out to him he resisted the urge. He'd already gone to the Shard for help once in the past 24 hours- for him to ask it twice would take something much more serious than mere unease at a single, admittedly extremely unsettling, person.
Truly skittish, and he had an object of power. One which had the smell of a container even the Wendigo wasn't eager to try breaching. He'd have to be careful around that one.

Pushing the thoughts aside, he focused on his cooking. Hrm, less steaks he'd have expected, to be honest. So far it'd just be him and the witch.

Oh, well, at least he had won some points with the... ah, right vampire. That was the word. Yes, with the vampire by saving up that blood.

[Alexander Cyphre]

Max simply sighs once more, and then once Alexander leaves their room, gets up and closes the door to actually change. [Note: Will still go down at a later point.]

"See you down later." I shrugged and turned, walking down the stairs towards the kitchen, curiously looking at the claw marks that were on the walls of the hallway.

Whoever did that must have been...

Wait a moment.

I stopped, checking the marks on the wall better. There was something that...

"They look wrong." Something about the distance between each mark was bothering me...

I blink. Did the Witch count as human? I blink again and give.. Vincent if I remember correctly a flat look. "If old-ass body jacking witches count then, yeah. Once in self defense."

I sigh loudly and rub my eyes. "I am too fucking tired for this shit." I grumble, before heading into the kitchen and starting to make myself a cup of hot chocolate to wake up to.. Cat's probably following me as well, because what else would it do.

"That sounds interesting. Mind sharing with us that part of your backstory?"

Witches. Hmmm, so I suppose their circumstances are different, but they still need to kill somebody.

As the four residents stood and began to make their breakfasts in the pre-dawn hours the lit squeak of ill-maintained wheels preceded a small wheeled cart with the wooden handle of a mop pushed out of the top of as Sandy pushed a mop and cart into the Kitchen. With a put upon sigh she began to very conspicuously clean a trail of blood spots that led to the refrigerator while pointedly not looking at Jack. As They slowly cleaned the linoleum floor she asked with a forced sounding casualness. "How did everyone sleep?"

"Oh, it's just absolutely terrible. Had a nightmare involving my tragic backstory, but besides that, the bed is okay."

Definitely need to interrogate her about her time here.

Aaron stares at Vincent, a strange expression on his face. Was... Vincent a murderer? Nah.... Probably not... He was probably just poorly wording it.

"... None?"

He sighs, shaking his head.

"Any wards I could rig up... I don't know how to do it quite yet, but I can tell you now that they probably won't work well against purely mortal threats. It's more likely that they'd be focused around working against hostile supernatural existences..."

Wards? Definitely need to learn how to that. Certainly could be useful.

"So, how do these wards work? Mind sharing how to do them with us?"

Jack hums as the first steak is done. A three fingers thick slab of prime meat, well done but tender, and seasoned to perfection. He is good with spices, years of experimentation and a supernaturally sharp nose letting him tailor a spice mix to flawlessly compliment any given piece of meat.

And with the scent of the blood and meat and spices and sizzling fat in the air, the Brimstone is masked, sparing his nose. He can still sense it there, but it no longer assaults his senses.

Regardless, the still steaming and sizzling steak is swiftly plated, coupled with proper cutlery and handed off to the Witch.

@ForgottonFuture

"Enjoy." He rasps simply, before turning back to the kitchen. Seeing as nobody else is asking for a steak of their own (although there are still a few others who have yet to come down), but leaving would be suspicious, he washes his hands and gets to work on... hrm, yeah, some crepes would do.

Salty or sweet? He muses as he prepares the batter, nothing more than dumping in the ingredients into a blender and making sure it is a smooth mix.

Salty wouldn't clash with the steaks, but only one person had asked for one so far, while sweet ones would serve as dessert and perhaps appeal to those who elected to skip on the meat.

Mhm, sweet it was. Whipped cream, nutella aaaand, yeah they had some decent ice cream. Plus some chocolate syrup and some sugar he could powder real quick. He could make that work.

"Unless you're willing to convert to Judaism and have enough Faith to call on the names of the Almighty without being smote for your hubris...."

He shrugs.

Placebo or genuinely comes from God? I can figure that part later.

"Is there any weakness to them we would need to know? The last thing we need is for something to exploit a loophole and got in when we least expect it."

"I don't know."

Aaron shrugs helplessly.

"I'll work on figuring that out but well, this is a new field of study for me."

As Sandy finishes mopping up the trail of blood drops they lean on the broom and cast their eye's over the group before speaking. "If I was you all I would take today to find your class rooms. Tomorrow is the first day of classes and it would be good to not be late on the first day." They then calmly roll the mop and cart back out of the kitchen, heading back towards their room and the office. Presumably to return the cleaning supplies to there designated spot. Wherever that may be.

Hrm, actually... "Blood pancakes, good?" Jack asked the vampire.

"I have... heard of those. Never tried one though." Lily smiled to the man, her fangs on display proudly. "I'll have to repay the favor with some soup at some point. I have a family recipe."

"Don't really need to do that. We should explore the campus though. Figure out where everything is, and then head back. We could do it as one big group as well!" Lily clapped her hands together and gave a two thumbs up to the group. "I hear there is a great student ran coffee shop and deli in the cafeteria." She suggested as she... poured a glass of blood and sat at the table with it.

Well, looked like his plan was working.

Now, grab some deer blood, make a second set of batter. Addons... probably plain, since only something made from blood would have taste to the vampire and it'd take too long to make anything of the sort.

He went ahead and got started with the blood pancakes first, since the others would be for dessert and the witch and the girl with the possessed item were still eating their steaks.

"Sounds like a plan."

This place was fucking spooky, to put it frankly. Going it alone was... not at all ideal.

Turning from Alexandria for a moment, Vincent spoke up.

"I wouldn't mind joining you guys."

Lily clapped her hands together and gave a very toothy smile. Her fangs very prominent in said smile. "Well, now that that is decided, after breakfast, and a quick shower, we'll head out." It took her just a small moment to take a sip from her glass as if it was just water, to which she gave it a look, shrugged, and continued drinking it. "Now that's a strange flavor. Not bad, but not my favorite."

"So, where do you guys want to head to first? I say we hit the cafe. That sounds fun." She slid into a seat and set the glass down, the red contents sticking to it slightly.

The ... cafe?

"But we just had breakfast. I actually kind of want to visit the metal auto shop the college apparently has. It sounds groovy."

With their first night in Wolfsbane over and breakfast done the group leaves the dorms to fins where their classes are. The Campus is spread out with concrete paths connecting all of the buildings the lawns in between are well kept and large. The buildings of the campus are a mish mash of different styles. The Library claws at the sky with a proto-gothic spire and arches covered in wrought iron facades and a massive clock that had an impressively loud bell that strikes ever hour. The Tall glaring statue of Jonathon Walter Marshal in front seems to follow you with it's eyes as you walk past. In comparison the Auto shop and Science buildings are Solidly built concrete structures with few windows and metal doors. It seems that someone is already working in the metal shop as the screech of an angle grinder makes it's way past the large garage doors in front.

The Other dorms and the Café are both cheaply built. Their outer walls are covered in a layer of stucco that given the signs of small cracks along the bottom is well on it's way to needing repair. The Café's interior is darkly lit and warm it seems to have been built primarily as a study area where you could also buy food and drink. Booths cover the walls with tables scattered haphazardly. It is cozy if not what you expected exactly. The English and Math building is past the Admin building, a long A frame construction with a scaled slate roof covering it, and is the only building over three stories on the campus other than the Library but, it still manages to look squat and fat somehow. Next to it is the School gym and pool. The building itself is nothing to right home about and the pool depressed into the ground like an amphitheater. The Campus has obviously been built upon over the years and is a study on what happens when a complex add's to itself over the years.

_----------------------------------------------------_

The first week of classes is... hard is the incorrect word. Strange in a way that makes it difficult is the best way to describe it. The majority of the group are in english or math adjacent classes and as such end up in that building, though not all at the same time and with some GE classes being in other buildings, The First classes for our accounting students is boring and is led by a twitchy teacher who seems to expect something to go wrong. The creative writing class's teacher reads a poem by Jack Unterweger, noted serial killer, and uses it as a springboard to speak about emotions in writing. The Mechanics teacher spends the first half of an engineering class talking about how it was impossible for the Moth Man to have destroyed that bridge and shows all of the math on how it's not possible. Culinary classes are held in the Café's kitchen and start with the students learning how to wash dishes and watching the the workers. The Science building is firmly split into section's with Bio-Sciences being in the basement and computer sciences on the second floor. The class work isn't anymore difficult than would be expected it's just work.

It's a Friday afternoon a week from the start of classes when things start getting strange. Small items within the rooms of those living in the dorm aren't where they left them. Door's open and close at all hours without anyone to open them. That night sounds can be heard within the vents and muffled voices are heard in the hallway but, when investigated no one is found. Sandy has left a note saying she's going top be off campus until Sunday and her room is locked tight.

For Aaron, the school was much bigger and... stranger than he'd ever thought it'd be. He feels like there's something always lurking just out of sight, but that could just be paranoia from the.... state of the dorms. The creepy statue of the founder doesn't help things. And then... Accounting class hits. He can't help but notice how... twitchy the teacher seems, and he starts to realize that the supernatural here... probably isn't just confined to a single dorm. Still, Aaron keeps at his work, spending his free time in the library trying to study up on his Kabbalism. Everything he'd seen so far... told him that he'd need to be more learned in his mystic craft.

Then it's Friday, and objects start moving, doors start opening and closing, and more. Sandy's gone from the house, and Aaron has the sinking feeling that the House is about to hit a peak in its... supernatural activity. He starts asking around, visiting people's rooms to call a meeting in the Dining Hall to talk about the... spooky shit going on.

To Daniel's mild surprise, he'd made it through the week without seeing Jack attack or eat anyone. Indeed, he'd barely seen the other teen, and though his presence was still unsettling Daniel was willing to write him off as threat- at least for the moment.

The rest of the inhabitants of Wolfsbane, meanwhile, had also turned out to be tolerable; he ignored them, they ignored him, and nobody suspected him of planting the scratch marks on the walls. Daniel still wasn't sure what the outcome of that particular act had been or would be, but since a week had passed he was willing to relax a little about the howling from the woods, under the assumption that whatever his protection was it was either already in place or would be soon.

On the purely mundane side of things, Daniel felt his first classes had gone well enough. They were stranger than he'd expected in some areas, true, but all in all nothing alarming. It was almost enough that Daniel could feel himself starting to relax, to let some of his fears go, to even consider covering up the Shard once more.

And then Friday arrived, and the house's sudden case of poltergeist activity drove all thoughts of relaxing his guard out of Daniel's head.

An entire week has passed for Vincent, and in all of his waking time, all of his instincts has been yelling at him to run away. The statue most definitely has its eyes on the people here, the teachers are definitely a part of some kind of cult, or at the very least they are creepy weirdos connected to the supernatural somewhat.

And the dorm is freaking haunted! Something is definitely up, and Sandy leaving just as things got weird is definitely a sign that everything's going together soon.

Vince has taken to bringing his knife in his pocket every day and padding his jacket with thick stacks of glued paper. Won't do much, but it might delay some strikes, at least enough for him to run away without bleeding all over the place.

The week for Lily was strange. Eventful... but... very strange. And it only got worse when that teacher started going off about moth man. Of course it was possible that moth man destroyed that bridge. It's an intelligent creature after all. With the proper application of force in the right areas anything can topple down.

That class went by rather quickly. And likely Lily was the only one that enjoyed it. After all, vampires existed, why not mothman. Plus, bigfoot country was just five hours up the road. There had to be other cryptids out there. Hell, she was pretty sure one of her dorm mates was one.

Though haunted dorm room... that was something she wasn't prepared for. Let alone actually deal with. Maybe it worked in the same way the town of Salem worked... for the rest of the day she closed all the windows out of habit, and whenever she went to the bathroom the shower curtain was ripped open to see what was behind it. This weekend... might give Lily a few silver hairs...

Perhaps going to that meeting in the dining hall wasn't a bad idea. Maybe the others knew how to deal with ghosts.

Max's week passes by normally, with them not really deviating from their originally-planned operations, aside from doing their best to look at everything that could be considered strange or adjacent to the supernatural in some way. They weren't going to waste the ability that they had gained from that deal. The time that they spent in their biology courses was mostly review at this point, but it was the first week. They expected the material to get harder... hopefully.

Back at the dorms, they continued production of thermite and nitroglycerin, on top of researching ghosts on the internet. Frankly, it wasn't time well spent, given that there were most likely far more mystically-inclined people in the dorm. They were planning on getting in contact with everyone though.

Eventually, anyway.
