Looking at something in the body mod binder Sin-Die took a moment to respond. "How about you finish going through and making a body mod list while I find out. I think this might be a bit more complicated if your current regen has removed that divot, that or Riser just never had it. Either way your regen is the issue and the medical lab techs should have an answer. Just stay here while I go check."
Spreading me arms I just said "Sure I'll be right here till you get back."
Shouting just as she was closing the door. "Let the lab boys know I want to know how this amputee shit is going to handle my regen after the show."
"Sure, now just stay there."
...
While she was out I decided to power through the rest of the body mods and I'd note which ones need to be reviewed later.
As was my usual action I disregarded most of the mental altering ones.
Oh and there was that silly
detachable penis which reminded me of a doujin. Oh, yeah that one ended up getting a jump made under the QQ drive.
There was also a
Race Change option that was offering points to go from a shonen devil into a human. That was a solid no from me, I was never really that attached to my species. Though the associated
Essence Change promised the ability to turn into a kryptonian-lite. The
Jelly Skelly subset was a definite potential, slime girls were great and I would in most cases be okay with that.
The
Timeless and upgrades were also useless thanks to my DxD devilhood. After all I had at a minimum 10,000 years and the innate shapeshifting would hold off any aging. Hell, I could even given time change my apparent age if so desired. The upgraded
Repairbots though was an immediate grab, after all I might regenerate as a Phenex, but that's as a devil meaning Light/Holy aligned ailments can severely hinder my recovery.
Telepathy being largely mental was also out, even if I really did want the
mind reading and
telekinesis.
There was also a
Genome Control set that just seemed like a massively upgraded version of devil shapeshifting. Yeah, I'll pass since devil magic two things going for it. That it's imagination based and is apparently like everything in shonen anime able to be gamed to absurd levels. The
Size Control is also a shapechange option.
Hell, I could probably just wipe out a lot of the previous selections just from me training up my now baseline devildom. Hell just going off that one devil lady who had Mr. Fantastic moves means that I can mimic such feats by training my shapeshifting.
Heck just going with that idea means I can get a stretchy tongue on my own. If I push it the fangs, and any horns I want could be molded.
I had to curse at that last one "Baelfire, I can get my tooth issue taken care of on my own. Huh, now what else did I just agonize over that could be swapped out under shape change roles."
If I push that logic further and treat the mutated forms of such Stray Devils like
Viser as the result of racial shapeshifting gone wild then
Race Hybridization is something quite possible as well.
Ahh, I need to scrap almost everything and just focus on the immediate gains that I can't collect from shapeshifting.
Right I think I got that sorted out and managed to reduce my Body Mod costs by more than half of what I'd started at. Though I did grab
Bi the Way as all it seems to do is shift my orientation focus from being a mostly apathetic 80/20 in favor of females towards a still mostly apathetic preference of partners that was an even 50/50. Looking closer it doesn't affect anything else about me such as if I like to top or not. On the other hand it's basically giving me free points.
Finished with the
Body Modifications section I moved on to the next section even if I was still holding off on the whole
amputation for mega points thing.
Health and Hygiene was the next section I decided to focus my time and energy towards. This should be easy enough to speed run especially since I found a countdown towards something called a soft launch.
Well I say count down but it seems to be a little over two weeks if we go with the fact that Slattern uses a 32 hours a day & 7 days to a week model. It also seems that they're doing multiple such soft launches each with about 3 weeks between them. If their year has 39 weeks then I think this 3 week interval is a month for them, which means there's 13 months in their year.
The reason I say this should be quick is that the nanobots I grabbed under body mods should keep me clean. And, anything they missed I could simply use my fires to quickly burn off for easy cleaning. That combined with the shapeshifting I intend to practice with means I can rule out the
Make-up Kit and its expansions.
The
Advanced Health Care was a sure grab after all they're selling me one-ups. All I need to ensure that the
Lifetime Plan resurrections only occur after any other one-ups I've used up. If I take the
Renewal Service then I get a potentially infinite source of resurrections at the cost of doing another run. A service that I can choose to end at anytime, though it does require doing a new run.
Now the 5 free ones only come into play after my run ends on the show so I need to come back to this. After all how much of my freedom am I willing to give up for an illusion of continuity?
Massage is skipped since it only applies to the show. The
Health Checkups is as worded not something I'm interested in undergoing even for just the year.
The
Living Roomba gives mini-Suu units that are capable of doing chores from day one. Such chores as: laundry, dishes, tidying and re-organizing furniture, maintaining appliances, performing basic pet care, vacuuming and much more.
Since this was such an easy section all that's left before looking at the
Clothing section is the bathtub Roomba the
Scrub-ot. Maxing it at
Scrub-ot PRO sounds like a good idea to get as the upgrades past that don't seem really worth it all that much.
Clothing was an even easier section to do a run through as I just skipped over any that required nudity. The
Clothing Replicator was an immediate grab that meant I had no need for any of the other options. Well except for some aesthetic options, and as an insert to Riser Phenex a
controlled Fetish Transformation snug yet comfortable clothing would fit.
Food was almost as easy since I went straight for the
Food Replicator, only to be met with every option selected. And, I do mean every available one to the maximum number allowable.
I had to double check my point value immedietly only to see that it hadn't shifted any. It was almost like there was no expenses on my account. Now call me paranoid, but it did jog my memory a bit and I can recall Sin-Die mentioning a hub. The only thing I could recall that would fit my situation is that somehow I'm using a Universal Drawback Supplement system. After all my favorite drawback besides
You ARE The Hiro and the UDS's
Drawback Keeper was
All You Can Eat.
A drawback that was almost a perk for the simple fact that it gave its users all the food items from non food jumps for free. All at the cost of actually having to exercise the calories off.
Though I can think of a million and one ways around that little issue, and even game it for profit.
...
A further shock came an hour later after I finished my
Entertainment and
E.Drug sections. Though I will note that I took the
Fecundity E.Drug for the increase in chances as I have to accept that I now come from a race with dramatically low birth rates. I'm also quite resolutely ignoring the
+489 credits that I gained from that section. Which ignoring the Entertainment purchases meant that I was sitting pretty at a glorious
+489 credits.
Said shock was that I could refund certain
Food selections for their full value, though I would then need to pay for the replacements. Meh that just became a small point bank to use, seeing as the
Food Replicator as worded can make any of the other food options. Well so long as they can fit inside of a microwave, though as spatial-warping tech comes into play that number shrinks.
Also infinite gold if I land in a Dungeons & Dragons world. After all who could say no to the adorable golden murder badgers that are the
aurumvorax. With some space warping that thing could be producing dragon carcasses as fast as I can demand them.
I can go even further since it literally says; "A special device slightly larger than a microwave that is capable of making any kind of food or drink you can think of, and even ones you can't."
That means if it could process it that this little box could feed Galactus and his family with suitable planets.
...
The
House was an interesting experience especially as I figured a Loophole that came from synergizing the Escher House with the
Dungeon Lord Job. It got me even higher synergy levels by becoming a
Super Villain for a Hero Team to face. Hel's Bells grabbing
Dungeon Delver just compounded the combo by letting me explore and "tame" the dungeon inside of my
Housing.
I mean the higher grade
Maze choices made a ready to go Dungeon that constantly shifts around. Taking the
Dungeon Lord choice meant that I could take my home
Dungeon and just manage it. After all it seems that they just ripped off the template from the 3.5e Dungeonscape splatbook. And then they added a little bit of lore from all those dungeon core novels so that there'd be an easier interface that seemed similar to a collection of stronghold builder guidebooks.
Essentially the meta premise I was building was that I was a villainous Dungeon Master whose dungeon grew by overtaking an infinitely larger one. With the fact that I was planning out how to further game this mess I think I had a good handle on things even if I was looking a little red in the points.
After careful point tracking I managed to snag before any rewards, and that was a sore topic at the moment, I had a positive gain of
2,009 credits and a cost sheet that totaled
2,094 credits for a net of
85 credits. And on the subject of Rewards my one free slot was taken up by the Planet that my Benefactor had purchased for a further net of
75 credits. Any extra rewards would automatically have an additional
25 credits added on to each reward's price tag.
.
I did get a small glimmer of hope from one of the options that I spotted. Of course they tried to hide this potential miracle option.
It was also at that time as I was mentally readying myself to looking at the rest of the rewards that Sin-Die came in.
Hopefully she had good news as at this point I might need to lop an arm off for the wonderful opportunity that I had in front of myself. Thankfully I don't think I need a positive balance to play this game.
I barely listened to her talk except to keep an eye on what she was doing, I was in such a fit of inspiration that I fully ignored everything around me.
What had caught my attention so? It was a simple reward that I remember had only shown up in a few editions of the contract that made its way to my old world.
The
Jackpot reward had my hands itching to use the dice Nǚwáng gave me something fierce and it says nothing about a limit on the number of rolls.
And I smile for it says nothing about a maximum number, and I've learned that ever since waking up games of chance such as dice are almost impossible for me to fail at.
There's a nine out of a hundred chance to win while rolling or a hundred percent chance in my hands. Each roll costs 30 credits and a win gives 80 credits.
That wasn't the only shock to my system as in my agitation my chain had been spiking in length and ended up coiled around my stylus only to get plugged into the tablet. I think if I wasn't a Phenex i'd have had a heart attack going by the warmth in my chest.
