Canceled : Make My Life Hell (Worm X Undertale : SI)

Wow I did not close these votes? Well uh vote closed with somebody opening the door.

But a Good Story-Teller
Before they could both jump out the window though I heard the tell-tale click of a door opening behind us all and I turned to see who it was. For there stood Marquis a small frown on his face as he looked Frisk over. Frisk looking guilty, paused in her hop to the ground outside, Chara just looking curious I think. "What are you doing?" Marquis asked.

"Uuuh…" Frisk trailed off, not really giving an answer. Probably didn't expect to get caught earlier.

"I said you could stay here, you don't have to leave if you don't want to." He continued, taking a few steps forward and kneeling before them to bring himself closer to eye level, passing a bit too close to me and so I stepped out of the way. Maybe he'd talk sense into them, because I can't.

"W- I wasn't tired yet." She replied. "I was going to come back." A very rough lie.

"It would be safer if you stayed here during the night." Marquis replied. "Even if you can defend yourself, the city isn't safe at night. How about I get you a book instead, to read till you are tired?"

Frisk was quiet for a bit, before nodding in acceptance. "Here, follow me." Marquis said, before standing up and leading the way to the door, pausing there till Frisk started following. Chara followed them with a curious expression and I stood there for a moment still toying with my ring before shuffling after them all. Not that it really mattered if I followed, I'd be dragged along anyways.

So in what I felt was an uncomfortable silence I followed them all through Marquis's house slash mansion near the rear of our little group. Just thinking on how out of place i was currently, how I could've done that different earlier. It wasn't long before we arrived to where Marquis was taking us, him opening the doors to a substantial room, filled with books. Lots of books. Something I'd be happy to see any other time. Not currently though. Marquis gestured around at the room, something I'd say was maybe a hundred square feet, and asked, "What would you like to read?"

"Hmm." Frisk hummed thoughtfully for a moment, before replying "Sci-fi."

Marquis nodded before going over to the left of the room, guiding Frisk over to a few shelves in particular. "Here's the few sci-fi books I own." Few being maybe fifty at the very least. "I hope there's one you might like."

Frisk began looking at them, and Chara did as well. After a few moments of that, Chara glanced at me, before saying "See if any look interesting to you" while gesturing towards the books. She then turned back to the shelf herself.

I just shook my head when she turned back around, fiddling with my ring now. "No thanks." I replied, watching Marquis watching over Frisk with a smile. Good man for a criminal.

She shrugged in response "Suit yourself." After a moment, she pointed towards one, and Frisk slid over and 'noticed' it themselves, and asked Marquis what it was about. After he finished telling them, Chara nodded and Frisk said "Can I have this one?"

Marquis nodded and grabbed it before handing it over. "Anything else you might need or shall we go back to your room?" He asked with another smile.

Frisk shook their head negative. "Room."

He nodded and led the way back to the room, Chara a little bit behind Frisk and me all the way back at the end of this little bubble. Again there was something on my glasses and I pulled them off to clean, lamely rubbing away at them until we came back to the room. As we all came in, he held the door open despite the fact he couldn't see me. He smiled and restated, "You're free to stay here as long as you like, if you have any problems just let me know, okay?" Frisk nodded in acceptance. Another smile and he said, "Good night." Then closed the door, leaving us alone again.

Chara let out a big sigh as Frisk sat herself on the bed. "Well, guess we aren't doing anything productive tonight." Frisk opened the book and placed it down beside her before whipping out her phone and starting messing with it. Chara flopped herself down beside Frisk, and began reading the opened book.

I just sat down where I was, close enough to the wall to count as me sitting against it. Then I took off my glasses again and folded them. I just think I needed some space right now, as much as I didn't want to think I felt I needed to now. A silent sigh and I let my head hang back against the wall and shut my eyes, just wanting stuff to make sense. Not need things I wasn't capable of. Stuff I could do normally. Not need hours of thinking for each little action, because god damn I wasn't the type of person to handle this all.

So I just thought over how I fucked that up earlier, thinking of how else I could of done it. Like maybe dropping it instead of pursuing it. Or a slightly different phrasing. Maybe just not saying anything and waiting until there were better relations between us all. Or just outright being a better people's person. I took a deep breath and just ran a hand over my face because hell was this too much.

Then a bump to my side startled me out of my thinking, making me jump a bit and I saw Frisk next to me happily smiling at me. Chara was on her other side, reading the book placed on the ground. When she saw she got my attention, she asked, "Wanna play a game?"

I looked back at the bed then back to the two of them beside me more or less. "When the hell did you two get over here?"

"A few moments ago. Things happen when you aren't paying attention. Shocker." Chara dryly commented without looking up from the book.

I leaned around Frisk to look at her better, putting my glasses back on, then leaned back with a quiet snarl of the lips. Taking the ring off again I looked to Frisk. "Why'd you come over here though?"

"Spend time with you." Frisk answered hopefully.

That made me pause with toying with the ring. Then I looked back up to Frisk and her smile. Well what do you know, wrong again with thinking everyone needed space for a bit. Slipping the ring back on I nodded. "Uh sure."

She turned her head towards the phone, which she was holding between us, and ask "Any look fun?"

I followed her gaze and looked over what icons were on the screen. Nothing I was familiar with sadly, to be expected though. Grunting a little I shook my head. "Any of these tower defense types?" In response, she slid the list down a bit and then pointed towards a particular game called 'Cave Rush'. The icon had a armored human yelling. I was reminded of 'Kingdom Rush', which I've never played once in my life. "That a TD?" Frisk nodded in response. "Okay then that I suppose."

Frisk smiled and opened the game up, making me wish I played Kingdom Rush once in my life because then I could compare it to that one and see the parallels. A small intro of Monsters trying to protect Underground from Humans and then the game started. Typical tower defense of a path and select points you could put them down at. Very stereotypical but that was what I liked most of the time. But still in my bad mood so I wasn't enjoying it too much. My silence however was interrupted by Frisk over and over.

Asking simple questions like, "Should this go here?" Or, "Who do I upgrade next?" questions that I wouldn't know at first because despite my familiarity with games, I wouldn't know anything about this one. Because every tower was a monster, every enemy was some human and nothing familiar. But it still didn't stop her from asking my opinion every minute I didn't say anything, the silence only interrupted every now and then by Chara asking for a page turn.

It took me longer than I want to admit to realize that she was trying to have me interact more than I was just by silently watching. It made me smile a bit when I realized it and I started to answer more without prompting from her. Deciding what towers went where every dozen seconds, upgrades and etcetera. My attention to that being taken away with Chara moving out of the corner of my eye, her now leaning on Frisk's shoulder, watching the game go through another level. Wasn't she reading? "Done reading?" I asked, because that book looked a bit much to be done already. In fact it was still open. Boring book?

"Sure." She replied simply.

I shrugged looking at the book again then back to the game, attributing it to the book being a boring one. Not many bad books out there, but there were some. Mainly fanfictions. Focusing back on the game we went through another level and begun working on setting up for the new one. Now with Chara correcting slash arguing with me about various things. Sometimes having towers moved because of better ideas on where to put them. Or which to have. Simple things that I didn't think over twice. Some I agreed with and others I didn't. But well it's three people playing a game, so it's to be expected. Some mistakes on everyone's parts at times making me curse a little because to be honest I was starting to have fun with doing perfect games.

After the latest curse from me Frisk paused the game and turned towards me with a small frown and asked "Please don't curse, bad words." Chara sighed to herself.

"Eh?" I managed, not expecting that to be the thing asked or asked because hell, how much had I cursed today? Like four times more than normal and I curse a lot normally. Quirking my lips I asked, "Why you asking now?"

She looked down at the screen, fiddling her thumbs across the surface as she answered "This is suppose to be a nice fun time. Not deal with badness."

I frowned myself watching her just nervously playing with the screen. Didn't much expect cursing to be 'badness' by anybody other than my grandmother. Heh, normally don't cuss around kids anyways. I sighed a little bit and scratched the back of my head. "Well it's kind of how I talk, been this way for like five years so I don't even think about it." I said explaining it a bit, the only time I'm not cussing around my grandmother.

Frisk glanced up at me with a weak smile and asked "Please try?"

I looked her over before smiling with a roll of my eyes. "Alright I can promise to at least to try not to, I will say that I may not be that well at it though."

Frisk nodded happily, and restarted the game. Thinking though I leaned a bit forward to get a look at Chara and saw a more or less neutral look. Not as happy as before but not mad either. That's good enough for me then. Leaning on back we resumed the game again, going through the levels a bit quicker as time went on and on, even though said levels were getting harder.

But it did get boring after a while, being a bit easy for my tastes. Or a lack of variety really with the towers, why bloons five was so much fun with all the various towers and ways to do a level. This game just being particular ones on particular levels as passed. So I rolled my eyes after a while and leaned back from the phone, rubbing my eyes. "You guys got anything else good on here?" They had christmas and maybe Star Wars if I remember right, so maybe some luck with other things? "Like I dunno Mass Effect or the Halo phone game. Something more shooty?"

Frisk shook her head saying "Not those." She went back to the games menu anyways and began scrolling through it looking for something.

I sighed a bit. "Fu--Err… would of liked to kill some Covenant or Reapers 'bout now." More interesting to shoot stuff then to do towers in my opinion anyways. And looking at them their was no reaction at all from either of them about the most popular sci-fi games in existence, when one of them grabbed a sci-fi book. Frowning slightly I leaned forward to address them both. "Do either of you even know what those are?"

"Nope." Frisk replied eloquently.

I cocked my head sideways to the two of them, frowning at both of them. "Never fuc--err" Caught myself because it was bad to curse around kids and because I promised. Frisk just smiled a bit and patted my knee reassuringly, to which I just smiled to her. "Never heard of Halo or Mass Effect? The biggest sci-fi games ever made?"

"Different world." Chara droned. "Yours doesn't have monsters, ours doesn't have some of your stuff."

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah but I think," Emphasis on think. "You have Star Wars, pretty sure anyways, right?"

"You mean Space Wars?" Chara asked, glancing towards me.

I took a breath and raised a finger before lowering it, makes sense something was changed. Funny name though. "Err Dark Lord of Sith kidnap a princess from a ship because of plans for moon-sized battlestation?"

"Sid, but yeah." She replied.

That made me think of the fucking sloth thing from Ice Age. Great now I had an image of a Darth Sid in my mind. Chuckling slightly I asked something else, "How many of these 'Space Wars' you have? Wondering what's different between our movies, mine's got seven."

"Three." Chara stated.

Which prompted Frisk to turn her head towards her and correct "Six."

Chara looked surprised. "Wait, what? Since when!" Frisk just shrugged in response, causing Chara to put a hand to her face "Gah! Being dead sucks!"

I looked to Frisk and pointed to her. "Three Prequels of before it became an Empire or whatever your movies have it called?"

Frisk just shrugged "Never watched it."

I frowned to her, not commenting due to me knowing she's from a shit family. Then I looked to them both with a bit of a smile, somewhat of an idea coming to mind. "You liked the movies?"

"Yeah, they were pretty good. Why?" Chara replied.

I smiled and clapped my hands a little. "Well I know all seven movies pretty well, seen the prequels dozens of times, the originals just as many and the seventh one three times the first week it came out! Just the problem of however your originals went then just fix it so you two can understand the other ones!"

"Don't see why'd it matter, unless you know how to get them to watch."

I shook my head. "No no, what I'm saying is I can tell ya the stories of the other four if ya want?" I said with a smile.

"You any good at storytelling? Papyrus tried once, he kept forgetting to tell important details." Chara said while sitting up and turning herself so that she was sitting facing me.

I nodded with a smile, "Been a while since I straight up told one but I've been writing since I was twelve, so about six years of experience. Not the best," I said with a shrug. "But I'm always told if anything I'm too descriptive for stuff."

Chara shrugged "Don't got anything better to do."

Rolling over to the side and coming up into a stand I clapped my hands again. "Okay so where to start? Different movies and stuff after all." I said trailing off slightly, just going straight into prequels would result in confusion from them. Different names, different world that it was made in so there were so many potential differences that would result in misunderstandings.

Chara shrugged "Might as well start at the beginning, rebuild the world."

I looked to her with a bit of a frown. "Ya mean the prequels as beginning or the originals since they were the beginning movies?"

Again she shrugged "Whichever."

"Alright then. Prequels it is. Let's start with the ever present opening of the movies then to set the mood." Taking a deep breath I tried to remember what the crawl thing was, they wouldn't mind or care if I got it wrong right? Letting out the breath I decided to begin. "A galaxy in chaos as the droid armies of the Trade Federation march onwards towards the Galactic Republic. Another innocent planet, the ever peaceful planet of Naboo blockaded by their armies until they give into their demands. Two Jedi have been sent to try and negotiate for the release of Naboo, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obiwan Kenobi, the former being a member of the Jedi Council and the latter his pupil…" I went on to butcher the rest of it, I think, of the crawl and then went onto the story, starting with Qui-gon and Obiwan inside the Federation ship. Being trapped by a betrayal from the Trade Federation, before cutting through droid after droid to escape the ship and get the surface. The annoying Jar-Jar Binks a Gungan that helped them meet the other Gungans and ask for help to be denied and sent out alone. On and on I went to the best of my knowledge of all the characters and all the events that had happened in the prequel.

All the while the two of them were watching me the entire time of the story as I was telling it, Frisk smiling the entire time and Chara just watching looking normal. Not her annoyed with me normal, more normal of somebody… watching TV I suppose. At least one of them looked like they were enjoying it. The only times I stopped were to take a breath and collect my thoughts on what was supposed to happen where because as many times as I have seen the movies, it had been a few months. Eventually though I stopped around the part where the Jedi met the Queen and were getting ready to escort her off world, getting a bit of a coughing fit, because despite the lack of a throat it still hurt from talking. Rubbing my throat a bit I asked with a smile, "You two enjoying it?"

Chara casually shrugged. "It was alright."

Frisk grew a large grin and looked towards her before saying "Don't lie."

This caused Chara to splutter and blush, looking at Frisk in a bit of shock before working out "Wh- but I'm NOT lying. It WAS alright!" Frisk just shook their head in response, causing Chara to look in the other way pouting, and mutter "Stupid perceptive people, they're the worst."

All the while it was making me chuckle at their little antics, irritating my throat a bit. Chara just blushing and looking away, Frisk smiling at her the whole time, like a… I don't know, sitcom. Not one of the shity ones either. Coughing again a horrible idea former in my mind but hey why not? "You know you're cute when ya blush."

She quickly spun to face the opposite way before quietly muttering something like "How about you shut the fuck up?"

That made me laugh hard at that, making her duck her head a bit, making me laugh harder and quickly sending me into a half coughing fit and choking fit at her reaction to that, a hand going to hold my throat and the other hammering my chest. Lasting a good half minute of me choking before I managed to get out a, "Bloody'Ell that," Another cough. "Was not good for my throat." I paused rubbing said throat a bit more. "Well if I had one I guess? 'Ell, can we get something to drink?" I asked Frisk, chuckling a bit more towards Chara still facing away.

Frisk nodded and stood up, after leaning over to close the book that was still left open, and trotted over to the door, me following after a moment, Chara staying where she was hunched over keeping her back to me, eventually letting the edge of the bubble drag her along. I slowed a bit looking back towards her, wondering why she was there for the bit. Turning back to Frisk I elbowed her and gestured back to Chara questioningly.

"It's fine." She calmly stated. "No more for now though."

Looking back to her hunched over I frowned a bit then looked back to Frisk. "Eh leave alone or can I like I dunno, apologize and stuff?"

Shaking her head she replied "Let her come to you."

I frowned a little before crossing my arms behind my head. "Whoops." I stated simply. Then I leaned back towards Frisk because this fifteen feet thing was a bit close to NOT overhear conversations. "Err how am I supposed to tell that?"

"When she walks towards you." She replied simply.

"I expected more to have to tell." Shrugging to myself I coughed again, rubbing my throat. Man when was the last time I fucking talked this much?

"Cart-wheels?" Frisk asked with a smile, before a moment later started doing some herself demonstratively down the hall.

I shook my head with a smile, having to speed up a little. "Bah of course not, maybe some yodeling." I joked back, this all was something I could handle, just joking around with a lack of cussing somebody out. They pulled out of their cart-wheels with a small flip in the air before landing with their hands in the air, posing a bit while giggling a bit. I rolled my eyes with the same smile. "Showoffs I swear. I'd do something myself but I'm more likely to trip."

And right as I said that, the floor underneath me pitched up, my arms jerking out towards the ground and slamming into it in a practiced move of rolling, it all going so fast that I ended up on my ass without knowing what just happened, world noticeably blurrier .

Behind me, I think, I heard a slow clap, and Chara's voice sarcastically say "Very impressive."

Shaking my head at the sudden change in orientation I turned around towards her, seeing her as a slightly blurry ghost. Shaking my head I stood back up and looked to the ground, a noticeable absence of weight on my nose. "Ah screw you too girlie." Narrowing my eyes I looked around on the ground, it helping me when I didn't have my glasses on, hoping to catch sight of my glasses. I felt a pat on my arm, and I turned to see a bit blurry Frisk, holding something towards me that looked like my glasses. Taking them and fumbling a second I slipped them back on. "Danke." Turning back to Chara, now with a smug smile and faded blush still on her cheeks, I dusted myself off and said."I will considering that payback for the blushing."

"I have no idea what you are talking about." She replied as she walked forward, last bit of blush slowly fading away.

I just watched her as she came up beside us, then looked towards Frisk and back to her, kind of not sure what to do here now. "So uh we good then?"

She lightly punched me on the shoulder, the grin now without its smugness, and said "Yeah, you jerk."

I smiled a bit at that, wiping off the shoulder from habit. "Yeah well that's how teenagers are." Turning back to Frisk I nodded. "So uh back to getting a drink?"

Frisk nodded happily, and then resumed walking down the hall towards the kitchen.

Following now with Chara in tow I scratched my throat a little. Seemed to be a bit much even for an hour or two of talking. "So want to resume after a drink?" I asked out loud not specifically to either of them.

"Sure, you weren't half-bad." Chara replied casually.

With a smile I just kept walking after Frisk to the kitchen, which we all reached in short order. I myself paused to look around somewhere for a bottle of water to grab or something while Frisk just kept going to the counter and stopped before hefting herself onto it. Sitting there, she opened the cabinets and looked to see if they had cups, right next to the edge of the sink. I glanced up to her and shrugged, some people like to drink out of glasses or cups, I just used whatever container my beverage was in.

She seemed to have found one and pulled it out, then turned to her side towards the sink and turned it on, beginning to fill the cup. Drawing my attention immediately towards her and making me shake my head in slight confusion. "Hey what are you doing?"

Cup now full, she turned off the water and slid off the counter while looking at me in confusion. "Getting water?"

Shaking my head more so now I said, "Not from the tap, that craps disgusting and unfiltered," I looked at the fridge expecting the water fountain thing in it, which it was. "Use the fridge thing if anything, that's clean water."

"Fridge thing?" Frisk asked in confusion, looking towards the fridge.

Rolling my eyes I went over to the fridge and pointed to the water dispenser. "This, it gives you clean drinkable water, healthier than tap water. Less bacteria and crap in it." Seriously do they not have these things, whatever they're called?

Pouring out the cup, they approached the fridge with a minor look of fascination and placed the cup in the slot, and when it started pouring out water Frisk let out a ooo. To my side I heard Chara whistle "Fancy."

I looked to Chara with a frown then back to Frisk and asked with a bit of fascination myself. "Okay have you two never seen a fridge with a water dispenser?"

"No. Why?" Chara answered.

"Because it's the most plain thing to be fascinated by. Had a fridge like this as long as I can remember." I said with a shrug and a smack against it. Noticeably absent of actual touch and just a vague feeling of emptiness. Ignoring that I gestured to the side at the ice dispenser beside it. "Anyways if you like ice use the one beside it."

Frisk shrugged in response. "Drink's for you." She said.

I frowned a little. "Literally or you drinking for me?" Cause I could feel some things from the body, kind of figured that to be the scenario now.

"You." She said, while gesturing me to come closer.

Oh. Unexpected. Stepping closer I stopped a bit outside of her reach, "Do uh put down the glass first, feel like I'd drop it." She shrugged again, and turned and put it on the adjacent counter, before turning back to me. That done I stepped into reach, still not used to the idea of this all. And kinda stood there awkwardly for a moment.

Frisk reached forward and grabbed my hand, smiled at me, and tugged me forwards towards her. I took a step forward and ended up tipping into her, the world blinking for a moment. Then finding myself completely turned around and hand grasping at something that wasn't there anymore. Shaking off that weird transition feeling I muttered, "Still fucking weird."

I turned to Frisk and said, "Thank you." Before grabbing the glass of water and taking a sip. Followed by suppressing a shudder at the plain jane taste and then downing the rest of it in short order, getting more goosebumps. Disgusting as always without flavor. Then I put the glass under the ice dispenser to get a few ice chips and popped one in my mouth. Cold, but it worked to soothe the throat. "So more story then?"

"You already asked." Chara replied.

I shrugged, didn't hurt to ask again. Then I went back to the room to resume, rolling around the ice in my mouth.

So nothing of importance that you guys can change tonight but you can choose what's tomorrow.

I'd imagine that Amelia would be attending the same school as Victoria no? Both families are rather rich.

Agreement: Interaction. We want this.
Amusement: Yay.

Having a corporeal body (and bone powers) does tend to give Marquis' words a bit more weight. I'm kinda surprised he didn't take the opportunity to ask a couple of questions while his daughter was asleep.

At least the relationship between the three seems to be running smoothly. And I'm gonna pick

because it seems the most fun. Besides, it doesn't stipulate that she succeeds. And if so, it might be easier to slip the leash for a bit.

Pessimism, Puns and Unwanted Pragmatic Thinking
The rest of the night went much the same way, me telling a story after grabbing some ice, leaving Frisk's body as soon as the ice was gone because of Chara telling me to give Frisk's body back. After a few more hours I called it quits on telling a story because I was starting to stutter and forget some parts. Along with getting the throat sore again, kind of knowing it would result in not talking much tomorrow. Morning. Whatever. Then we spent the rest of the night gaming.

Because the next thing I knew it was morning, light streaming through the windows. I blanched a little at that fact but we just kept going because I wasn't tired and they didn't seem so either. A while after it and switching through various things they had on the phone, the door was knocked on before having Marquis pop in. Since we had migrated to the bed after a while he spotted Frisk playing on her phone, on said bed. A small smile and he offered, "Hungry for some breakfast?"

Huh. We did just spend an entire night without eating, awake. Yet I didn't feel hungry, or at least not until I realized I hadn't eaten. Weird.

Frisk nodded, sliding their phone into their pocket and sliding off the bed to follow Marquis. Me and Chara both followed after, it being an uneventful trip to the dining room again, the only difference being me massaging my throat a bit. Note to self, cut down story time to like two hours only. Entering Frisk sat down in the same seat again, along with Chara by her side as Marquis had just told her to wait. Then he left out the same way again, not towards the kitchen. Amy still asleep?

I moved to the other side of the table, like yesterday, and made to push out the chair because it was too close to the table for my liking, instead having my hands just pass through again. Muttering a large amount of curses to myself I just used the chair as a step onto the table and laid down on it to wait, humming to myself. I stopped humming quickly because it was irritating my vocal chords. Though Amy quickly arrived with Marquis, her rubbing away sleep from her eyes.

She took a seat at the table and Marquis asked, "So what does everyone want for breakfast?"

Amy answered with a yawn. "Pancakes please."

Marquis looked to Frisk. Frisk responded with a nod and a "Pancakes."

Marquis nodded and walked off to the kitchen to make said pancakes as asked. Amy was half asleep still from just waking up so didn't do much more besides sit there with an occasional yawn. Kiddos not doing anything on their part either, everyone at the table just kind of silent currently, one asleep, me with a sore throat and kiddos just used to being quiet I guess. It all made me awkward a bit so I just tapped the table in a steady rhythm, Star Wars with a bit of gentle humming.

Marquis cooked quick enough that I didn't notice much of the time passing and he came back with some pancakes. Some were laid out for Amy then some for Frisk. Followed by everyone eating. Amy slowly begun to wake up as everyone ate. Which begun with more questions that hadn't been asked last night. Making me chuckle a little. Frisk answering all her questions without much hesitation, Marquis getting the now 'clean' plates and leaving for the kitchen once more. Frisk just kept answering, at least until Marquis popped back in the door. "Amelia, sweety, remember that Jean is coming by later to take you to school." He smiled to Frisk. "And do remember Frisk you're welcome to stay here as long as you want, there's some food in the fridge if you get hungry."

Frisk nodded happily in response. With that Marquis took his leave, making me wonder whether or not the kids would actually wait or stay here. Probably not. As Marquis left though, Amy asked a question that Frisk didn't quite immediately answer. "Do you want to go to school with me?"

That got Frisk to sorta freeze up, and respond with a ever so eloquent "Ummm…"

Amy frowned a bit, "Aw come on it'll be fun to go with my new friend, I could show you my teachers and some of my other friends!" She said excitedly, a smile coming back to her face as she finished.

Frisk responded with a sigh and an "Alright." Didn't sound so eager there, but well most people can't say no to a face like Amy's. And what I've seen of Frisk, she kind of lets others choose. Or Chara just likes to take charge vocally. Maybe both. Looking at Chara she just seemed bored.

I shrugged as Amy hopped up and down excitedly. "Oh great, great, great! We're going to need to get you some school stuff, come on there's some in my room!" She chattered as she ran around the table and grabbed Frisk's hand, pulling her along the way, Frisk offering little if any resistance. I slid off the table as Amy dragged Frisk to her room in a hurry, just slowly walking behind them both. I noticed Chara going at the same pace, the two of us ending up getting dragged instead of keeping pace.

"Going to guess you two don't like school?" I asked Chara judging from her face, leaning against the barrier instead of walking still.

"It's boring." Chara replied. "The only good bits were recess."

I chuckled a bit. "My schools were never really boring. Well except for high school because I didn't have to worry about the freaks from middle and elementary school." I paused for a second before chuckling again. "Funny thing is kids are worse bullies than teenagers in my experience."

Chara just shrugged, going "Eh."

We stopped being dragged making me think that we arrived and I walked the rest of the way to just watch Amy start grabbing supplies and shoving them into a backpack, excitedly chittering about each item. I took the more or less silent opportunity to ask, "Well what was your school like?" Was kind of curious.

"Show up, teacher talks, lunch, recess, teacher talks, go home." She listed off in a bored tone of voice.

I hummed an understanding, coughing a bit. "Wanna hear a bit of a stupid story about some of my schools?" I asked, thinking of some stupid thing that happened back in my earlier grades.

"Sure." She answered, turning to face me.

"Alright you know how teachers are about having you read all the time right? Best thing for a student to do in their opinion?" She nodded. "Well used to be I didn't have friends so I'd just read. Day in and day out, during lunch, recess, after tests and so on. I'd have the best grades from just reading, but apparently I read too much for the teacher's liking because they eventually banned me from the library or reading anymore." I said with another chuckle, that part of the story earning a small smirk. "Anyways so as I was unable to go back to the library anymore, I started bringing some from home. The teachers were a bit stupid because they couldn't figure out where I was bringing my books from, before eventually figuring it out about after a week. I got in some trouble of course but it was kind of hilarious with how they couldn't figure it out, along with reading being bad all of a sudden now."

"People are idiots." She agreed with that small smirk still there. I nodded as Amy finished packing the backpack, completely overstuffed with things, before saying something about getting lunch. Then once again grabbing Frisk's hand and dragging her after her again.

I'm sure I had some other stories along those lines that could get a smile. I thought it over as we were dragged again by the barrier. "Yeah but those teachers were a special kind of stupid. Example, there's so many bullies I used to have I would have to get in a fight at least once every two weeks. Mum tried to make them actually do something about it by saying that I had full permission to fight them with the bit of Taekwondo I knew. They responded by blaming me and sending me to anger management." I rolled my eyes. "Funny thing was the people there just let me do what I wanted because they said themselves that I didn't have a problem."

She was quiet for a bit, before responding "I got in fights too. Was suspended once, after I accidentally bit the jerks ear off." She sounded a tad nervous.

I paused for a moment before looking at her a brow raised, seeing maybe a bit of nervousness? "Like how much of the ear?"

"I'mmm not sure." She responded, dragging out the 'm'. "Maybe half?"

I grabbed my ear slowly, rubbing my hand over it, thinking of what is half of it. "Bloody 'ell." Lowering my hand I shook my head. "Most of my fights ended in stalemates or me putting'em in a chokehold. You're actually the first person I've met that's actually bit someone… kinda weird and cool at same time." I said to finish it as Amy arrived in the kicthen and started grabbing all sorts of food.

She responded with a non-committal "Hmm".

I shrugged, watching Amy try to slather a sandwich with peanut butter. "I only remember ever drawing blood twice. Once by accident when some kid jumped head first into my raised golf club, ended up splitting his head open. The other time being when I was a bit high on ADHD meds. A note," I said looking to Frisk. "Don't let Frisk get ADHD meds, that fucks up your mind a lot."

She looked at me confused "Why would they get ADHD medicine?"

"ADHD is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Meant for hyperactive children that don't do as told, overprescribed in the Americas, where we are currently." I said reciting some info as I remembered it. "Basically for a large amount of children or what not it's people who can't be bothered to treat their kids right. My case it was a bad psychiatrist if I remember correctly, the meds elevating some chemicals and made it so the slightest things would piss me off and send me into a rage. When I wasn't starving due to me feeling full from said meds." I said watching Amy finish packing a bag for lunch and grab Frisk's schoolbag then dragging it to the door.

"Alright," Chara continued "But why would Frisk get those? They aren't exactly hyperactive or overly disobedient."

I shrugged. "Say kiddo has trouble focusing because she ain't good at math, they can and may probably have teachers try to prescribe ADHD meds. In 'Muricah all we care about is fast food, guns, eagles and drugs. Emphasis on the drugs." I said with a laugh, it turning to a cough halfway through. When I was done coughing I frowned. "Eh Ma is right, I am a bit of a pessimist."

"Well I guess that's one thing different about your world, they care if you are paying attention." Chara replied.

I looked to her again as Amy kept blabbering about something, still dragging Frisk around. For what now, I'm not sure. "Only if you're in a good school. Hell I got in fist fight once with a football player in the middle of a classroom and the teacher didn't even bother to get up until other students tried to get in the way." I nodded to Amy. "Example she goes to a good school, full of money and political people. They care. Shit schools do not."

"Would they care about us? We don't have any of that." She asked skeptically.

I blinked and raised a finger to answer, then paused with it in the air. Humming for a moment I answered, "Worst case get kicked out because you're not registered as a student. Best case is they don't ask because Amy is the daughter of a very rich influential man on the surface, who is the most dangerous crime boss in Brockton Bay to the criminal world. Not sure how much Marquis is watching his daughter, could very well be a few thugs as employees or something there." I shrugged. "A good number of factors that could change their reaction." Coughing a bit I added, "Something to deal with when the time comes."

She gave a small nod, that being the only signal she had heard me. Amy finally stopped running around and seemed to look for the clock, letting out a cute little 'eep' as she saw it, yelling something about the time before dragging Frisk to the front door. I rolled my eyes at how Amy was reacting to bringing Frisk to school, such childish bonding between crime boss daughter and someone with a past of Frisk's, before coughing again a bit. Fuck my throat. And to think I'm looking at somebody who I'm pretty sure killed the entire Underground. And Saved it. Such power in such a young lass.

Thinking for a moment about said power and Worm I thought of some useful people and how they could work with the kiddos, making me wonder of them ever relying on anybody. Judging by a simple idea of staying a Marquis' house I wasn't sure what to think. "How are you two with teamwork by the way?"

"It's usually just me or them doing stuff." Chara replied.

I frowned to her as Amy reached the front door with Frisk and bags in two, quickly darting out the front to a waiting car. I think Marquis said it was some guy named Jeff?. "Not really answering my question."

"Probably because you asked it wrong." She quipped.

I rolled my eyes as the Jeff guy opened the door for Amy and Frisk, finally walking forward since I didn't have to chase a hyperactive six year old now. "Anyways reason I ask is because there's a good number of people that could be useful for stuff." I said slipping into the car and facing them from the front seat. "One being Mouse Protector, can teleport to location she's touched along with other people if I remember right. Chevalier being able to use certain characteristics of his weapons and switch them out. Both great heroes, not douches or freaks like the other powerful people. Mayb Lung, though he isn't much of a team player it might be worth it since he solo fought Levi for a few minutes." I think Lung was triggered by now. Pretty sure. Kinda hard to think and ignore the chattering from Amy to the Jeff guy.

"And what would they get out of helping us?" Chara asked skeptically.

"Lung not really much, for the powerhouse he is, he's difficult to handle. The other two are heroes though so they wouldn't mind helping a kid with heroing, hell they'd enjoy it. Mouse Protector for sure, if I remember right her shtick was annoying every enemy with puns and hammy jokes like an actual comic book hero." I said slowly, scouring my brain for information considering she was kinda dead by story start. "Plus they were both kids when they started heroing, so beyond the usual stopping villains thing, they'd be tutoring a new person." I said matter of factly, leaning over the front seat to look them both better in the eye. "But teamwork I meant for the big freaks you need help to get close to, the Enders."

Chara still looked skeptical, but answered "No one helped us before, we handled everything ourselves."

"I merely need to point to the car to show you that isn't the case here." After thinking for a few moments I continued with a bit of a wince. "And not to be a mean and remind you, but the happy ending for everybody before was seven dead humans. You guys being the last."

Chara frowned, and responded "It's not like we got any help before the Underground either, why do you think we went there?"

I froze a bit at that, looking away a bit uncomfortable. Didn't make sense to be more uncomfortable than her regarding their past. "Err…" I stuttered there. "Yeah… suffice to say without really any concrete info I can say you two were not given a proper life."

"Proper or not, it was our life. And I see no reason that Humans would suddenly start treating us better."Chara answered, turning to stare out the window.

I glanced to Frisk for any kind of sign or help, but got no help since she seemed to be paying more attention to Amy. I just scratched the side of my face a bit, not quite sure how to respond to that. "Err what about me? I mean I'm trying at least right?" I asked haltingly.

"You're one of the exceptions. There are a few good Humans, Frisk being the perfect example." Chara replied without looking away from the window.

I frowned over the seat. Such a pessimist at this young of an age? Fucking hell worse than I was and I know what people are capable of, researched that bullshit. "Going to guess Amy and Marquis are exceptions too huh?"

"Amy's a kid, hasn't had time to turn sour. Eloi, haven't figured out his thing yet, maybe wants us to entertain his daughter." She waved towards Amy.

And those were the only two examples I really had to argue with, everything else just being hearsay. Lowering myself down the seat slightly I sighed. Fuck how am I supposed to change that worldview? Can't think with Amy blabbering away, because fuck I forgot how annoying kids are when trying to think. Looking up and at my ghost hands for a moment, I realized I could get some air easy. Using the door as a footstep up, then the seat as another footstep up I grabbed through the roof and pulled myself out. Not like I could see the conversation going anywhere currently.

Out in fresh air, whipping at my face, I slowly begun to pace the roof, problems going through my mind as I stopped trying to ignore them. How reality isn't reality currently. Me with game characters in a book. I pushed those two big issues to the side to think on the kids. Me and Nick had talked about what the kid's life was like before but that didn't help me much if at all. Just know that their home family was shit for both, both driven to Mt. Ebott. They didn't know proper hygiene for injuries, al that showed was they didn't get taught advanced health stuff.

I mean what could I do to show them they're wrong with the shit life they've had? Without the ability to do anything without running it by them. Along with Chara not liking me in Frisk's body from what I could tell. Severely, very fucking severely limited any options I could think of. So the rest of the car ride to Amy's school I spent pacing and trying to think of what to do for the kids, it being limited options. Kids don't count, Eloi is just 'using' them, I am an exception and I feel as if other good people might be exceptions too. It was irritating me slightly to be honest, because it would be one fucking thing to be leashed to them with the fifteen feet range, with my own body. I could still do things, make a real difference in the real world beyond just suggestions.

But here i just feel like a fucking NPC, the tutorial guy that gives you an idea of the world and you're supposed to leave behind. Except I'm not left behind, I'm being tugged along, nothing to offer but a few smiles every once in awhile. Kind of good for them I suppose but it didn't help me stop feeling useless. By the time we did arrive at the school, I had thought of nothing I could do, just hopping down when Jake stopped at the entrance, Amy opening the door for herself and Frisk.

Out came Amy first, chattering away about how Frisk would love school with her, Frisk smiling despite or due to being tugged along, Chara following looking bored, the Jake guy waving bye to her as he drove off. Then I paid attention to the gaggle of kids swarming into the front doors, or rather courtyard of the school. A fancy brick wall around the school, with the main entrance being into a garden like spot, the children miraculously not trampling any plants. Well mannered kids wow much. The building itself being two storied, brick worked with some red and blue paint, for some reason, and all the children entering being well dressed ones.

The kids went straight into the gaggle of children going into the elementary while I was forced to try and avoid all of them, because hell did it feel weird for them to be walking through me, Chara just floating above the chaos. I was actually kind of successful with slipping between pairs or groups of them and ducking under arms. But I still felt a disturbing tingle as I was forced to go through some of them. Thankfully we got into the school building quickly with Amy dragging Frisk to her classroom. It's been awhile since i had only one classroom for the entire day. Amy sat Frisk down beside her near the front, quite close to the teacher's desk.

Looking around it was a well decorated elementary room, Abc's running around the room near the ceiling, a lovely looking chalkboard with a rainbow of colors for chalk. Hardwood desks that were free of markings. A nice blue color on the walls. Lesson plans for the day, I think, written in clear legible writing. A nice place. One too nice to not ask where the random kid came from. Frowning I sat on one of the neighboring kids' desks thinking of what would be right for taking care of that question. Maybe half-truth of the fact they're from street and were invited here by Amy? Sure will attract attention but not as much as some other answers.

It wasn't long before the classroom filled with students and I was forced to vacate my seat as some kid threw their backpack on the desk, scaring the hell out of me at first. Shortly after an adult arrived, a modest skirt and vest jacket thing, not sure what they're called, as her attire with a blonde ponytail draped over a right shoulder. Making me think of a businesswoman rather than a school teacher. Is this what a fancy place is like? She waved to all the students as she entered offering a, "Good morning everyone." To them all. Which they returned in kind.

She however paused, catching sight of Frisk near the front of the classroom, lips pursed. But to my surprise she walked on to her desk and laid down her bag to address the class and start giving a lesson plan. That being a simple set of math warm up questions, that she started handing out to everyone. At least for everyone but Frisk, stopping in a kneel next to her. "May I ask who you are young man?" She asked with a smile to Frisk.

Amy interrupting first with an excited, "Her name's Frisk! I wanted to bring her to school to show her how much fun we have." She finished with a naive little smile.

The teach smiled at the answer but looked back to Frisk. "Well where do you normally go to Frisk?"

Oh fuck you teacher, couldn't be something simple today? Why not just ignore the random kid like every other school does? I sighed looking to Frisk and Chara hanging over her shoulder, floating again. They should be good liars considering the Underground and going through it so many times. Right? "Don't." Frisk happily chirped in response.

"Oh for fuck's sakes." I muttered with a facepalm, not seeing whatever the teach's reaction was to that inane statement.

"You don't go to school?" She asked. I removed my hand from my face to see her with a concerned frown just as Frisk shook her head no in response. "That's not good, it's important to go to school. Who are your parents?"

Do not fucking tell the truth to that for god's sakes please. I held clapped my hands to get a bit of attention before Frisk answered. "Don't answer that. Just uh fuck say you're a street kid and Amy invited you here or something like that. Do not want to say anything about world hopping, trust me." I said with a pinch of the nose's bridge. Because fuck it was going to raise questions and fuck Frisk over a bit, but better than actually answering the questions.

Frisk dutifully answered "Street kid." I raised my head to see the results of what I said, out of the corner of my eye seeing Chara looking at me with a funny look. To which I gave a very exaggerated shrug. The hell was i supposed to suggest?

"Oh." The teacher let out with a disturbed expression, before putting on an uneasy smile "Well, it's nice to have you here." She stood up and strode fairly quickly to her desk before picking up the phone and began dialing some numbers.

"Fuck's sakes." I said out loud when she began dialing.

"Probably would have been better to just tell her the truth. Not like they can contact them." Chara said.

"Which would lead to them trying to figure out why you don't have paperwork, just showed up out of nowhere, the fact these parents don't exist around here or anything. And Frisk seemed like she was going to tell the truth which was going to be world hopping. Which is not something a kid of all people should say." I said rubbing my temples. "That was the only thing I could think of an explanation right then."

"Please, give Frisk some credit. They know how to not answer questions." Chara said. "And we don't have paper work either way, and we'd be gone before they could ascertain that the parents don't exist."

I frowned at her and thrusted my arms at Frisk. "The credit wasn't given because she told the teach that she don't go to school. Something you never tell a good teacher!"

"Frisk doesn't lie. But they usually don't need to. Because, even if we made up a different school, we'd have to get lucky at naming one that exists, and then there's the fact that they don't go there. And so what if we don't go to school, they can't give us detention, and it's not like we are coming back."

"No but considering the fact that I lost credit in Frisk's ability to answer and the truth would have pointed to powers, thus the fuckers PRT following you guys, you have to understand I panicked a bit." I said with a slight sigh.

"That's fine, but trust them in the future." She responded, rolling onto her back mid air and began staring at the ceiling.

I just massaged my eyes as the teacher hung up and resumed teaching class, giving some work to Frisk too. I just looked at it wondering whether to offer help before deciding it was easy enough Frisk could handle it. Then I just focused on what to do now because I know for a fact that phone call was to some Gov guy.

Sighing at the idea of sitting in school with nothing to do I looked up to Chara just floating there staring at the ceiling. "How do you float anyways?"

"I got no body to hold me down." She answered smoothly.

I cocked my head at her, that pun working in there quite easily. I forgot she was supposed to be a pun kind of person. "Jokes like that float your boat then?"

"They help keep my spirits up."

Smirking slightly I said, "Well light humor is good for everyone."

"They'll never get me down."

"Great for escaping the gravity of a situation." Looking up at her just floating there I swear I could see a smile on the side of her face. Not sure though.

"As long as you don't fall for their tricks."

"Even then it keeps my mood up." Okay haven't met someone in a while that likes puns without the cringing bit, so I did not have that many in mind.

"They're just trying to get a rise out of you.."

I slowed down a little to think of something, it just being a slight difference to hers. "I'd rather say they raise my hopes."

"Without them, my spirits would drop."

And there I paused because I was out of ideas of what else goes up and down. Fuck. Chuckling I folded my arms behind my head. "Okay I'll fold and be crystal clear, I haven't had to compete puns with someone who rocks at them before and yours are gneiss unlike the other people I talk to. You win." Her maybe smile turning into a definite smile as it got bigger. Not that I'm not going to sneak some in near the end because you don't know geology. A few moments of silence and I realized she wasn't going to actually answer me. "So uh seriously, how do I float?"

"I told you." She answered, rolling back around and facing me. "We got no body, we're ghosts, gravity doesn't affect us. So, you just float."

"And on your first day you just thought, I can float now, and thus started floating ever since?" I asked skeptically.

"Well, not first day. Didn't realize I was dead." She said scratching her chin, before shrugging "But otherwise, yeah. Same with going through walls, and what not."

"Well what the guy not used to magic and BS is asking for, is advice on how to do the floating bit." I paused for a moment before adding. "Please."

"Well, how do you go through walls and stuff?"

"I grab the other side and pull through while still being affected by gravity." I said switching feet. Hated standing in place.

"Yes, but how." She stressed, turning and stretching her arm so that she was resting her hand against the table beneath her. "Why can you sometimes lean against them, and sometimes go right through." She started sinking demonstrably, hand going through the table. "What do you do?"

I paused there before shrugging. "I don't know, I first did that when I thought everything was a dream."

"But you can still do it, despite knowing it isn't?" She asked.

"Well I wouldn't say knowing. But yeah."

"So how do you do it? Would you describe it as 'you just do it'?" She questioned, leadingly.

I scrunched my face up a bit. "I uh guess?" It being more of a question than an answer.

"And that's how you float." She concluding, nodding. "Don't know what else to tell you, I just do it." Suddenly she was gone, and I heard "Same with shifting." From right behind me.

Which made me jump away from that spot with a, "Fucking christ!" Because goddamn if that isn't a jumpscare. Complete with the jumpscarer now laughing. Frowning at her there I shook my head. "Yeah well that doesn't help cause it's one thing to just do it when you treat it as 'hey it's two game characters, let's see what fun we can do' and another when you're just… whatever I'm treating it now." Sighing I scratched my head. "Still not sure what anything is."

"Well, we are still two game characters, right? And what else are we to do for the rest of ever besides have fun when we can?" She asked, floating back up to her normal position. "Just gotta be sure to share the fun."

I sighed at that and just asked, "So that's all you can think of as advice?"

"Yeah. Try to figure out how you do one ghost thing, and then apply it to other ghost things."

I frowned and shook my head, "Well thanks anyways." Like that would fucking help me any. She didn't respond any and just went back to staring at the ceiling while I had to deal with the fact there's fucking nothing to do here besides think. Which wasn't fun I thought, sitting down against the teach's desk. How does one ignore critical thoughts of their own? Stifling a yawn I let my eyes wander the room, forced to think on my situation, making me grimace at my own thoughts.

It was fun sitting on my ass forced to think on things.

Eventually the ticking of the clock garnered my attention, it just a steady ticking and tocking that was just audible over the sound of the kids and teaching. Humming a bit I focused on that, it being a thankful distraction. "Tick. Tock. Tickity tock. Goes the clock. Along with my mind. Me alone. Gone from my kind." Tapping my fingers on the ground I just shut my eyes and tried to ignore the thoughts in my mind. "Me alone, on the borderline.." I trailed off, never having really added more to that song, it always being different every time.

I kept humming as I just tried to let myself drift off for a bit because fuck this, sleeping was better than just thinking on this all.

I don't know how long I spent trying to sleep with thoughts nagging at me and just making me frown or grimace at how close to reality it could be, such as just being a schizophrenic now or the fact I really am gone with Mother still having cancer, but something interrupted my wanting to sleep. Creaking open my eyes to see what it was I saw...

Social Welfare time - at the rate this is going Frisk might end up getting adopted.

I nodded as Amy finished packing the backpack, completely overstuffed with things, before saying something about getting lunch. Then once again grabbing Frisk's hand and dragging her after her again.
I remember the days where I could barely fit my books in my backpack. I had to carry an entire dictionary sometimes. One time I slipped when the ground was wet and the books in my backpack cushioned my fall completely.

The number of books I had to carry at a time significantly decreased when I entered high school.

Well, we already knew she was a savage fighter since whatever happened under the table was considered unspeakable.
I only remember ever drawing blood twice. Once by accident when some kid jumped head first into my raised golf club, ended up splitting his head open.
Some kid got his split open during my seventh grade gym class. I didn't see what happened, but I know that all the other boys in that class were stupid jocks and probably raised a hockey stick (covered in foam) too high.

That's one of the reasons I tended to sit on the edge of the stage instead of participating. The other is because I always felt useless in every sport. :(

Elementary and Middle School days are pretty hectic compared to teenager life from what I've heard and seen.

That pun fight was pretty amusing to watch.

Elementary and Middle School days are pretty hectic compared to teenager life from what I've heard and seen.
Sort of, before I transfered to a smaller high school, one student in my freshman year got caught selling drugs on campus and another got caught using drugs. (The one caught selling drugs was black. The one caught using drugs was one of the asshole jocks from grade school, but not the one who had to get his head stapled. Was not surprised) At the end of sophmore year, the year before I transferred, the school was going to have unscheduled, unannounced checks from a police dog!
That pun fight was pretty amusing to watch.
It hurt so much yet it felt so good!

Assurance: We're closer to the teacher and Amy here, so less stranger danger from the social welfare man.
