The video started with a masked face staring at the camera.
"Is this thing on?" She asked.
Another voice responded. "Is the red light flashing?"
"Doesn't the red light mean the battery was low?"
"This is a new camera." A voice called in. "Shini-chan dropped the last one, remember?"
"You tripped me!"
"Calm down, calm down." Another voice called. "The camera's rolling, and you know Sunny is bad at editing."
"So mean, Tigershark-"
"Why does she get a cool nickname?"
A voice laughed, and the camera swivelled to face two other girls. "If you wanted to be a tiger shark, you could have just asked."
"DON'T YOU DA-"
The first girl, who was wearing blue, waved her hand. The second, wearing black, suddenly shifted. In a few moments, with a pop, the girl disappeared, with a shark in her place.
"There." Said the blue girl. "A tiger shark. Happy?"
The shark seemed to glare at the blue girl, and tried to flop towards her.
"You've had your fun." Said a voice behind the camera. "Change her back."
The blue girl sighed, and waved her hand. The shark popped back into the girl in black. The no-longer-a-shark girl looked at the blue girl for a moment, before opening her mouth.
The initial word was bleeped, but the following sentence was not. "Tigershark's bullying me again!"
"Oi!" Said another voice, as a girl in green stepped on screen. "Be careful, people complained last time we put up a video where we had to keep bleeping names."
The girl in black blinked. "...Oh. Sorry-"
"Don't apologise!" The girl in blue snapped, oblivious to the fact that her feet were no longer on the ground. "You're such a pushover, Shini-chan. Always hiding behind Sunny, always apologi-"
As her head drifted off-screen, a thud was heard.
"...I'm going to start counting." Said the floating girl. "And when I get to ten, Tempest is going to put me down, or she'll find some angry lobsters in her shower tonight."
The camera turned away from the group, turning to focus on someone else. A girl in a mask, with one of the masks eyes resembling the burning sun, and the other looking like some form of Egyptian symbol.
"Sorry." She whispered. "I know we promised to show off a bit, but Shini-chan wanted me to show off my eye and Snakes complained about collateral damage, so there was a dispute. Next time, okay?"
The video went on for some time after that, detailing how the girl with the focus calmed down the fighting with the promise of cake, followed by some stories regarding what the girls had done with their powers. The girl in blue showed off a necklace of shark teeth that she had been given after getting into an argument with another magical girl in the ocean, while the girl dressed in black told an old story of when the team had first met, and their bickering was less playful.
After half an hour of the girls playing with their powers, the video ended, with the leader of the girls, Sunny, promising to put up another video in a week.
The group was so happy, in the video. Teasing at times, with playful banter, but happy.
They also hadn't been heard from in six months.
The man watching the video rewound the video again, hoping to see a mention of some explanation for it. The five "Magical Girls" had run a youtube channel for months, with some missed deadlines due to running into issues, but they had always made a comment somewhere to explain the delay. Here, there was nothing.
It was unknown what had happened to them, nor where they were. Given what the man had seen in his line of work, it was likely that they were dead, or otherwise incapacitated. Such was the life, of those who had been chosen.
Closing the tab, the man returned to his work. Observation, and study. It was almost done now.
It had been two months since the project had fallen to his division. He would never undersell the work of his predecessors; the study of the so-called Magical Girls and their powers was still an ongoing project, one that began years ago. But it was his efforts that had allowed them to progress so far in so little time.
His immediate predecessor had been onto something brilliant with Oshiho, but he'd demanded too much from a single person. Perhaps that was why the personnel change became necessary. Still, Kagakusha's notes and a prototype had survived that little coup, and with those it had been child's play to finish the test units.
Thumbing the cylinder-shaped detonator in his hand, he smirked. In trying to destroy the project, he had enabled its greatest leap forward in years. The irony was almost palpable.
"The subjects have arrived."
"Well, I suppose I should meet them in person."
This RP is basically the result of throwing Magical Girl anime, Super Sentai shows, and vaguely Kamen Rider-themed heros into a single pot and setting to boil. In this RP, you will be able to play as one of three kinds of hero, with some backstory requirements. They are as followed, and as detailed:
-Magical Girls
The most powerful and varied of the lot, Magical Girls are the result of people who are desperate or in need for one reason or another making a contract with a cute supernatural creature, getting superpowers. No, you cannot chose the theme for your Contractor, because of plot reasons regarding stuff. A template has been provided.
-Sentai Squad
These guys will be the bulk of accepted submissions. We'll accept five of these, and while each is weaker than the other submission types individually, you get a combining mecha. The plot behind these guys is that the Government made you and let you lose in Tokyo to test you. Abuse your power and they'll hunt you down, and they'll want to talk after fights to ask questions, but the government is giving you a giant robot each so be thankful. Template below.
-Kamen Rider
Mostly given the name because it's cool and vaguely close. Something something shady scientists are also experimenting with superpowers, this mainly exists to give male characters a chance to be powerful too. Backstory for this one requires a shady conspiracy tricking or kidnapping you, an escape attempt or set-up for the RP to start with one, and also gives you a chance to grab cool technology. You could have a mini-mech or motorbike that can drive on water or fly.
For the power set, feel free to negotiate with the GM's, me and Lichte, since we'll help guide things along.
Magical Girls and Kamen Riders are stronger, but we won't be accepting too many of those, so please submit some Sentai Squad characters. If we don't start the RP with five Sentai players, Lichte and I will make NPC's to fill out the roster, and Lichte is a terrible influence who's likely to suggest "Literally Stain" and "Literally The Punisher," and other characters along those lines.
Magical Girls and Kamen Riders also have a limit on acceptable characters, but I'm afraid that if I state them I'll get Divider'd so I'll keep you in suspense.
Questions will be answered by @Lichte because I'm lazy but if I disagree with him I overrule him because power feels amazing and abusing it is fun.
