[X] Try and convince him to come with you despite his clear misgivings.

Never split the party. Especially not when he'd be practically defenceless alone.

oh dear god we've been stuck in a tie for four months

[x] Try and convince him to come with you despite his clear misgivings.

...Huh. Butter-Fly effect. I genuinely thought you were dead.

Let's... see if I can remember where this was going... Worst case I can just make something up and go from there. It's worked out so far!

The Infiltration, Part 4
"Rikuto, come on down!" You call up to him where he stands above you, blocking some of the only light that you can see. This whole thing, looking back on it, was clearly a terrible idea. "It's safer down here!"

Well. You think it's safer down here. At the very least, you aren't sure the fire will be spreading this far, and it's nice to be someplace that isn't on fire.

"...Are you sure?" He asks you. And it takes a few moments for you to come up with a response to that.

You aren't sure it should take you that long. The room above you is on fire. "It'll be fine! It's not on fire!"

There's a heavy sigh, and Rikuto drops down beside you, landing lightly on his feet. He seems a bit unsteady, but it is a bit more graceful of a landing than you had. "Where is this place?"

"I don't know, but it's really big!" Biyomon chirps. "I can fly around and everything." To demonstrate, she does a loop-de-loop. You hadn't fully realized that she could do that.

"It's also really cold." As little as you can see, you can tell he's shivering.

The world above you gets a little brighter, and something hits the ground next to you. It's a small shovel, not useful for much, but presumably halfway suitable for your purposes. You pick it up. It feels a little hot, but that might just be because the floor it was sitting on burned through.

...You'll take it.

It takes a bit of effort for you to locate some surprisingly-damp walls, but it appears that you're in a tunnel that goes off to the left and the right. There's not an easy well to tell the difference between the two, but the one to your right is drier, while there appears to be a slight breeze coming from the left.

[ ] Go right.

[ ] Go left.

The Infiltration, Part 5
The air coming from the left is damp, and incredibly chilly. You can't help but shiver a little when it settles on your skin, and you kind of don't want to walk in that direction.

But at the same time, there is air coming from the left. Which means some sort of open space, be it the sky or some sort of large cave.

...Or maybe there's just a Digimon with a fan waiting at the other end, but you're going to at least try and pretend that logic means something here.

"Which way do we go?" Rikuto asks you. "I'm... not great at navigating underground."

You don't know why he thinks that you are, but you suppose that one of you has to make the decisions, and this is his way of ceding that responsibility to the one who'll be fending off any negative consequences. "It... might be safer to go to the left." It could lead out, while for all you know the right side path could lead you to a dead end for Puppetmon and his minions to corner you at.

"There's air that way!" Biyomon agrees, swooping off down the tunnel into the darkness without a second thought. It takes you less than a moment to run after her.

"Hey, wait up! Biyomon!"

That was half an hour ago, you think. You haven't exactly been checking the time on your Digivice. But that feels about right, and you don't feel like stopping and checking the time. Why bother?

You wonder how Puppetmon dealt with his base being set on fire. You wonder if he noticed the open trapdoor. Something tells you that pretending you were never there is significantly less of an option than it used to be.

"Are we there yet?" Biyomon complains. "My wings are getting sore."

"You can walk," Rikuto points out, before yawning. "But I'm... kinda tired, too..." He yawns.

Now that they both mention it... you can't help but feel weighed down from all the walking you've done today, all the stress of trying to sneak into Puppetmon's base... utterly failing at what you'd set out to do... It's not even your first recent failure. Things have been going wrong at least since Myotismon, if not even longer than that.
Okay, so you got what you wanted out of it, but now you're wandering through a cave. This was not in the plan and there's no way that it ever would be.

[ ] Maybe it wouldn't hurt to take a short rest, just for a while...

[ ] Maybe... you could keep going just a bit further...

[ ] ...At what point does it become a good idea to try and dig your way out?

We got Invisitext~

though, uh. seems like someone's mental state is taking a turn for the worse. not entirely sure what we can do about that right now, though.

We can't exactly fall asleep Here, that'd be dumb and kinda dangerous. While either of the remaining two could be options, I'm going to go with the middle one since it seems like it'll take less energy compared to trying to dig.

[x] Maybe... you could keep going just a bit further...

[X] ...At what point does it become a good idea to try and dig your way out?

Falling asleep is bad, and frankly I think the continuing to search for an exit is falling into an illusion type trap. Sometimes the best way to break that or at least reveal it is going off the rails a little.

[X] ...At what point does it become a good idea to try and dig your way out?

On one hand, digging is going to take lots of time and energy, and we don't really have either. On the other, we seem to be walking into the lair of some kind of lethargy-causing Digimon.

[X] ...At what point does it become a good idea to try and dig your way out?

Okay! I can work with this!

There's some amount of plot that you miss out on with this option, but nothing I can't fill in with Sidestories later! And it'll probably have to be filled in at some point or another, so... there's that.
