"Mimi, we need to handle the distraction," You hiss. She nods and follows you down the hill. "Um, is something the matter?"
"We've been trying to find you girls everywhere. Where have you been? It's almost time to leave!" Right... massive blizzard in August, no wonder they'd want to send everyone home. "And your friends are missing, too. Do you have any idea where they are?"
(Sora and Mimi Diplomacy total: 183)
You try not to instinctively look up the hill. A number of the Digimon could be explained away as toys or something, but some of them are a lot less easy to hide. And you've yet to think up a good reason for Joe being here.
"Oh, you probably just haven't seen us around," Mimi brushes off the question pretty quickly. "We haven't really had the chance to unpack, and the kids wanted to play in the snow."
You nod. "We've been telling them that we have to be back at the buses soon, but they wouldn't listen. It's like the aurora a couple hours ago made them forget anything else. But they're just about ready to go now, we all just need to pick up our stuff. Don't worry about it!"
"I think I really should talk to them..."
"No, don't worry about that!" Mimi laughs and you honestly think it's amazing that the two of you have managed to keep your composure for this long. "We can handle them just fine on our own! You should go check in on the ones that aren't this responsible!"
Somehow, that works. It's sort of creepy, but Mimi just has to open her mouth and your teacher is... well, not quite helpless, but...
It scares you.
"Okay, we've got fifteen minutes before we have to be on the bus home," You brief the others. "Is Mammothmon capable of living on his own in the forest?"
"One would hope so," The blue-wearing Digimon, Wizardmon, replies. "His kind is most commonly found outside civilization, though they tend to prefer colder climates."
"Well, the snow hasn't melted yet, so I guess that's fine."
"We're just leaving him here?" One of the Numemon asks.
Izzy simply points over at the buses. "Do you think you can fit him on one of those?"
"...Not really."
"We need to think about what we're going to do with the rest of you, too," Biyomon points out. "Joe's not supposed to be here, and, well... nobody expects to have to deal with Digimon all the time."
"I wasn't, and I've been a DigiDestined for four years," You add.
Joe sighs. "If this place becomes known for mammoth sightings, this is all your fault."
"What did we do!?"
"Shouldn't we be getting our stuff so we can go home?" Matt asks. "I mean, these Digimon aren't really our main problem." Right. The Dark Masters. You should probably start thinking about how you're going to properly break the news to everyone, really...
"Hey, we could help you!" Koemon complains.
"Against a group of Megas like that one? I don't know..."
"It's not like we have much of a choice, though," Tentomon notes. "With how fast time goes by, they might be all the help we have."
"Maybe they should go ahead and hide under the seats of the bus," Patamon suggests. "That's what I do, when I don't want TK to carry me all the time."
You don't think you've seen a time when Patamon wasn't either flying or carried by TK, but most of your interactions with him have taken place in the Digital World, so it's not that surprising.
"Even if we leave Mammothmon behind, Wizardmon and most of us won't really fit," Gabumon notes. "We'll need actual seats for ourselves, and I'm sure the other humans will notice that we weren't there before."
"Yeah, everyone always noticed when we visited a new place because there were humans in the group," Gomamon says. "And we Digimon look a lot different from you guys. What do you think, Joe?"
"I'm supposed to be home sick. If anyone notices me, people knowing about the Digimon will be the least of my worries. ...I don't think I should take the bus."
"Well, how else do you plan to get back?" Tai asks. "We're pretty far from home, it's not like you can just walk there..."
(Izzy's subtlety roll: 1)
Izzy has his computer out. "Izzy... what are you doing?"
"Solving all our problems." A white flash, a violet flash, and then MegaKabuterimon. "You remember what the city looked like, right? Try and find the park we were at earlier, ask Joe for directions if you need them."
You sigh. "Izzy..." Well, there goes any hope of not attracting attention....
Sure enough, when you get back to the buses, everyone is in panic over the sudden appearance of a giant insect that flew away over their heads. It's better than trying to fit everyone on a bus, even if the rest of you brought your partners with you, but still...
You also have no clue where Mammothmon got off to. You hope that doesn't come back to haunt you later.
"Kids, we all need to get onto the buses as fast as you can! Hopefully, it'll be safer once we're all back home!" One of the councilors calls. "Where did I put the bug spray? We need to insectproof the bus..."
Kari moves to stop Izzy before he can get insulted. "Don't. They don't know."
On the bright side, nobody gives your Digimon a second thought when they're all busy panicking over MegaKabuterimon. Hopefully, when he's teaching Izzy tact, Daigo can instill some subtlety as well. Clearly, he needs it.
Also, because everyone's panicking over MegaKabuterimon, you can talk about whatever you'd like and no one will notice. At least things aren't completely terrible.
[ ] Izzy needs to have explained to him what, exactly, he did wrong.
[ ] Tai and Kari took the keychains from Wizardmon at some point... you might want to talk about that.
[ ] You and Mimi need to talk. What happened back there?
[ ] Matt and TK's parents already know about the Digital World as do yours. The three of you should work together so that everyone else's parents can be brought in without too much of a disaster.
