Buffy the Vampire Slayer Take Two

[X]Plan a dinner for Sofia leaving and Buffy coming back
-[X] Exchange emails with Sofia to keep in contact.
-[X] Try to emphasize to Sofia that Buffy has survived as long as she has due to having backup, while Kendra worked alone, and she should have her own group, wherever she goes.

I'm really confused about where her Watcher is. Is he/she already dead? I'd think that she'd have told Giles if that was the case.

While I'd like for her to have backup, I'm not sure where to advise her to look for it. Is she going to be constantly traveling? Maybe we should just tell her to be open to working with others?
Her Watcher is back at her home. This was a summer trip for her under another Watcher for training. She is traveling more than Buffy is, she covers the lower tip of Mexico

Rise of the Undead Cat
You talked to Cordelia who talked to Willow who talked to Buffy's mom to plan a dinner welcoming Buffy back and saying farewell to Sofia. She didn't really know who Sofia was, but she did think it was a nice thing for the group to try and do a farewell party since she was leaving. She did mention that the whole summer exchange was a bit strange, but as with most people who didn't know she didn't dig further.

Of course, Buffy's return marked the start of things going actively strange again, this time starting with a dead cat being found still walking around in Buffy's house.

Shame we can't adopt the undead kitty. But then it's akin to the cat from Pet Semetary and not General from Cat's Eye, just not a good idea to be around.

This feels like a good compromise between abandoning the dinner and ignoring the problem. Xander is taking precautions while hoping that the issue can wait until afterwards.

The Undead
You start checking around Buffy's house, ostensibly helping with prep for the dinner but really to try and make sure that the place is as secure as possible against any undead. The problem of course, is that you don't really deal with zombies. Vampires sure, any day of the weak. Spirits and demons too sometimes. But zombies? Not something you have experience with.

Your Van Helsing memories are only loosely useful here, as the memories revolve around the restless undead and how to keep someone from becoming a zombie, rather than warding against an attack from one. It does get you wondering if the graveyards in Sunnydale are consecrated at all. Can they be if they have vampires coming out of them all the time?

[ ]Look into the consecration of the graveyards later
[ ]Leave it be, it's not really your area

When Sofia shows up she asks what you're doing, and you explain to her about the potential undead problem. You assure her that you'll all do your best to make sure the dinner goes well, zombies or not. You want to give her a good send off after all, especially after you exchanged emails. You don't want Sofia to decide to not contact you if she needs someone. Sofia moves on to speak with Buffy. The two slayers are awkward with each other, but Buffy seems genuinely happy to see Sofia and spend time with her.

The party actually goes quite well, until Giles calls the house. Buffy's mother isn't too pleased with the school librarian calling in the middle of dinner, respected by Buffy or not. Buffy manages to make an excuse and take the phone, just in time for the undead to start banging on the doors.

The good news is you managed to seal up the house fairly well, so the zombies have been stuck just banging around the outside of the house so far. The bad news is, there's a lot more than you were expecting. It looks like an entire cemetary woke up to come here, and the cemeteries in Sunnydale are not small! Buffy shouts up to Sofia to look for an african style mask with glowing eyes and they split up to search the house. Buffy's mom is freaking out about what's going on while they search.

While I'm definitely willing to look into the consecration of the graveyards, I feel like it should be up to Buffy how much she wants to tell her mom.

[X]Write-in: Ask Joyce about any African masks in her house.

I'm not sure Joyce will be able to calm down enough to answer, but it's a helpful route to try while not stepping on Buffy's toes.
