-[X] The vote above; but also it's been about six months since you had a purification ritual - and while you're at it - when is the last time you have taken the time to try to understand why you hold the motivations you hold?

Sea Dream
You decide to try and reach out to the fish monsters. You go to the drain you know you saw some of them go down and shout down it for a while. Amy and Buffy came along with Giles carrying a notebook to note down anything you can figure out. Eventually one of the creatures turns up and looks like its contemplating taking one of you down for dinner.

"So, er, how's it going?"

The fish monster stared.

"Right, giant fish monster."

The fish monster stared.

"There any chance that you actually understand what I'm saying, and you're not just waiting for me to fall in to eat?"

The fish monster let out one of its weird calls that felt like a thump through your body.

"I think that's a yes, you do understand."

The fish monster repeated the call.

"So what do we do now?" Buffy asked.

"We can't change them back, so I guess we get them to the ocean. Gotta be better than living in sewers," Amy said.

That definitely got the fish monster's attention. It focused its stare onto Amy.

"There's four of them, so at least they won't be lonely," Buffy said awkwardly.

"And there should be similar species in the ocean as well," Giles added.

"Remind me to not go swimming in the ocean for a while," you snarked.

"They really can't communicate with us anymore, can they?" Amy murmured curiously as she studied the fish monster. It stretched towards her opening its mouth. You pulled her back a bit. No need to feed them like that.

"Transformative processes like this tend to be irrevocably one way and remove what's left of humanity. It's lucky they can understand us at all and haven't lost that along with everything else," Giles said as he jotted down some things.

"We're really sure it understands us?" Buffy asked doubtfully. The fish monster responded with a growl.

"Yup," you confirmed.

Getting them out of the sewers and down towards the beach took far more work than you wished it had. Amy and Ms Calendar worked together to keep anyone from noticing the four fish monsters you were rounding up, and you helped Buffy with wrangling them. It turned out that once out of the water they were quite awkward. Still powerful and fully capable of breaking things. They completely broke down the side of the cart you'd rented to stick them in for the ride. The monsters spoke to each other, leaving the rest of you to do your best to not be sick from the sounds they were making.

You load them off, and one of them stops long enough to give a nod to the group before joining the others in swimming out into the depths. You stare at the water trying to push down the unease looking at it fills you with. You got lucky.

You ask Ms Calendar and Amy if they can pray to Poseidon Hecates and Artemis for a blessing on the transformed swim team, and see if you can actually get a useful magic boost instead of what you ended up with thanks to the whole reaction to the fish steroids you had. Amy looks intrigued by the idea and willing to jump in, but Ms Calendar is a lot more cautious. There are rituals to empower users out there, but they come with a price. The hyena possession you had experienced was in fact one such empowerment ritual. Perhaps a custom ritual could be designed instead of looking one up, but the effects of one that was designed for scratch would be even more difficult to predict the price it would ask for.

[ ]Keep forward on a custom ritual, you'll take the price
[ ]Look for an empowerment ritual with a price you'll know beforehand
[ ]Drop looking for a boost

Huh, that went a lot better than I thought it would. I'm surprised that the fish monsters still understood English. Here's hoping that they stick to eating seafood!

[X]Drop looking for a boost

The drug affected Xander in an unpredictable way. Let's not add the possibility for more stuff to react chaotically.

[x]Look for an empowerment ritual with a price you'll know beforehand

As the Dark One always says, 'all magic comes at a price!' Best be sure you know what price you're paying.

[X]Keep forward on a custom ritual, you'll take the price

Well who knows how the ritual will react, nothing goes quite right with Xander.

[X]Drop looking for a boost
-[X] Ask about a spell or ritual to remove the scales.
Or hell, we could look into going full Ironwarrior, and have it removed. Skin grafts are a thing; but achievable with a watchers budget.

Time can be a price, energy expended can be a price, valuables can be a price, dedicating your Kills to a Specific Deity can be a price.

The key aspect is to know what we are doing and plan accordingly.

Fish Tail
"Alright, do you at least think there's a way to remove the scales?"

"Maybe," Ms Calendar said doubtfully. You itched at your arm idly. This really was bad luck.

Amy did pull you to the side a few days later to tell you that she had an idea of how to get rid of the patch of scales you now had. She was completely confident in it, and just needed your consent.

[ ]Agree to it, you trust what Amy can do
[ ]Disagree, you'd prefer someone with more experience
[ ]Ask Ms Calendar to help Amy
[ ]Write-in

Super short wrap up for this episode, and then the big stuff

I disagree because we have not been playing Xander as reckless and dumb. If Xander needs surgery, should he trust someone who has not graduated high school or have surgery performed by an actual surgeon at a hospital? This is worse because it is magic.
Xander has seen Amy use magic on multiple occasions without issue, and I see him as trusting his friends as long as they don't give him a reason to distrust him. We've had him support investigating Buffy's suspicions about Ted and the child-killer at the hospital when I think canon had him doubting Buffy. I'm viewing this vote as Xander trusting Amy's estimation of the situation and of her capability of dealing with it.
