Buffy the Vampire Slayer Take Two

[X]Listen and see if they say anything useful
[X]Immediately tell the Scoobies about the sauna and how you've been exposed

Cordy is dating you, Xander, not those other guys. While it would be nice to know if there are any traditions Cordy expects you to know about, she doesn't want someone who treats her the way those guys would treat her.

As for telling the Scoobies that you've been dosed, that's the SMART thing to do. Get treatment before you start turning into a fish monster or getting a demon's attention, Xander!

Time for the Xander classic: "Hahaha, I'm in danger!"

Fish Scales
The sauna talk mostly revolves around swimming, with some mentions of how to bring it up to impress girls enough to get them interested. You are aware that Cordelia has been very much enjoying watching you swim topless, but she's been enjoying your company even before that, so unfortunately what they have to share isn't useful beyond the reveal that they are being exposed through the steam in the sauna to whatever the coach is doing.

You don't waste any time running to the library. "It's in the sauna! Magic steroids are in the sauna, and I've been soaking in it."

"Oh no! You're going to turn into a fish man!" Willow exclaimed.

"Xander's new, he shouldn't be at risk of changing yet," Cordelia rebuffed. She looked worried anyways.

"Alright, let's grab the coach and shake him down for what he knows," Buffy decided. "We need to see if what he's done has a cure."

"I'll come along. He might go easier if I'm there." Or not. The coach was turning the team into fish monsters after all.

You followed Buffy through the school to the infirmary. The coach was having some kind of argument with the nurse that was interrupted when Buffy knocked on the door. Coach Marin frowned at Buffy and looked over at you. "Something wrong Harris?"

"Just a small thing." You grinned. "I would have liked to get the option of being fishified or not."

"What are you talking about?"

"We know that you're putting something in the sauna that causes the swim team to mutate. It makes them swim better, but they also turn into monsters if exposed long enough," Buffy said calmly.

"I told you you needed to stop," the nurse lectured the coach.

He turned red. "I made them winners! I look after them!"

"Funny, I wouldn't call being turned into a fish monster being looked after," you shot back.

"I don't abandon them!" Coach Marin stepped forward with a powerful scowl. "If you don't want to be part of their dinner, I would drop it. You have a future Harris, don't ruin it."

"Living in the sewers? No thanks."

Buffy and the coach fought. The eerie cries of the fish men echoed up as they fought, responding to the coach's stress. It ached less than the last time you heard it. You didn't know if that was because they were further away or because of the exposure. The coach was knocked out, and you took him back to Giles to get whoever it was that handled humans committing crimes with the supernatural.

Giles figured out a way to undo the concoction, but you apparently had an odd reaction to the magic fish steroids. It's bonded to you different, and they can't undo it. It won't get worse, you won't turn into a fish monster, but they can't one hundred percent clear it out of your system either. Ms Calendar and Giles look you over and reach out to their contacts to see how you're doing, but as far as they can see you are still mostly human. The only change is that you can hold your breath for thirty seconds longer than before, and a trained human swimmer could do longer than that.

There's also a small rash of scales on the underside of both of your forearms, small enough to be mistaken as patches of dry skin unless someone really looks. They get itchy if you let them get too dry. It's hard to not pick at them until it bleeds, a permanent mark of how you've lost some of your humanity.

And you still have to deal with the fish monsters from the team members who changed before you could undo it. There's four of them now, a final one having changed while Buffy fought the coach.

[ ]Leave them, the sewers in Sunnydale are certainly large enough for them to live in, and already full of monsters
[ ]Try to get them to the sea, better to get them away from Sunnydale
[ ]Hunt them, they are monsters that are willing to kill people and a threat
[ ]Try to talk with them, see if you can reach whatever is left of their humanity

I vaguely feel that Xander should do a purification ritual after this, despite the fact I don't think it would help with this or that it's been a particurly long time since the last one.

It'd be basic Sunnydale-effect to have such "slip a person's mind" for quite a while.
Then again it's be Sunnydale-effect to push someone into going overboard with such. I suppose it depends on 'how long since the last time he did a purification'?

Xander's link to Chaos strikes again! I like how there's a downside to go along with the boost. Oftentimes, fics will just have everything benefit Xander with no downsides.

I'm willing to change my vote, depending on how the discussion goes, but this is what makes sense to me right now.

The last purification would have been at the start of the year, so before Angel lost his curse
Ok, sorry but that's actually not that helpful to me, because I don't know when this update occoured.
I had this vague idea/intention of 'at least one every 6 months, unless big magic stuff happens to prompt one earlier'.

How many months ago before this current update was 'the start of the year'?

The Sunnydale timeline is quite frankly a horrible train wreck, so let's say that it's been six months since the start of the year so I don't have to deal with the headache of trying to make the timeline work

It wasn't until you said 'start of the year' that I realised that I had literally no concept of when anything occurred except in the broadest terms, as in "Buffy went to LA in the summer after she died the first time".
From player to QM, I 100% get that the timeline of your source material is a mess, and I feel that precisly pinning the 'when' of stuff down is just not relevant to the quest you're running. It would in no way be a good use of anyone's effort.

A vague 'about six months ago' is totally sufficient for what I'm asking here, thanks; and if in this quest something happens a month or two from now, on halloween... well that's just Sunnydale being timey-wimey :D

-[X] The vote above; but also it's been about six months since you had a purification ritual - and while you're at it - when is the last time you have taken the time to try to understand why you hold the motivations you hold?

How long until someone revives Angel?

Great question! Who would want to revive Angel?

Buffy, The Powers That Be, the Wolf, Ram and Hart. The supernatural means of how Angel died might qualify him to be revived like Buffy was. There was a group that was capable of saving lives that Angel went to when he wanted to save Darla. I do not know if they could him back.

The Powers That Be had Angel as their champion and that could be enough to revive him if it is easy enough. Their champion was not supposed to die and that could be enough of a reason to revive him.

That law firm would want him back the most. The prophecy they cared about so much had to do with the vampire with a soul. They can easily revive him like they did with Darla, turn him back to a vampire and if they do not know how to return his soul, they can have the scoobies do it. They would not let a fluke like broken fate get in the way of their prophecy. The scoobies would feel indebted if not for the part where they turned him into a vampire again. They might return him to Sunnydale as a human to stay on the good side of Angel and because they believe he would choose to become a vampire again over staying as a powerless human that cannot keep up with his love.

The network will demand Whedon bring him back and later be given his own spin off. He is too popular with the audience to stay dead.

Ok, you are right about who would benefit from Angel being revived, and why Angel had his own spin off series

But I don't think anyone in the quest would demand him brought back XD

Angel might pop back up in a year or so
