Official sypnosis: "Set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves, and fairies have been co-existing since the beginning of time. Bright is genre-bending action movie that follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward and Jakoby, embark on a routine patrol night and encounter a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it."

Cautiously optimistic?

You know the more I look at it, the more it resembles Shadowrun.

I approve either way.

Japan has LNs.

America has Will Smith.

Who will win the Great Isekai Wars?
Looks like Kazutrash and lolihitler are going to have to up their game.

Subaru needs to start to have game.

The rest of them can go hit the showers. They just drag down those three.

You've heard of urban fantasy? This is actual urban fantasy. Now we just need a magic school being ravaged by the nation's failing education system.

So this is basically a Shadowrun story only set in modern day because they blew most of the budget on Will Smith.

I suppose the conflict will be some shady, magical/science government conspiracy?

That's... fine by me. Will there be vampires/werewolves/monster mash or it's just orcs, elves, humans and fairies?

The only thing I don't like is the fact everything's normal Earth, except for having Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, etc.

How is that possible? What kind of kingdoms did all the other races have and their empires? Earth has a finite amount of living space, and for this to be possible either means some groups of people never existed in this universe or were blended into these other races.

I.e. Native Americans are now Orcs, Northern Scandinavian-indigenous people became Dwarves, Mediterranean island dwelling people became Elves.

Not to mention their role in history would have to be fully explained, or else this dies before making it out the oven.

Could be they're doing what Shadowrun did: had a cataclismic 'event' that restored magic & changed a chunk of the populace to elves/trolls/dwarves etc etc.

It could be a District 9 situation and they came from another dimension some years or centuries ago.

I did think that was a bit odd, but I don't think it really needs to be fully explained. It just needs a decent excuse to get mentioned onscreen. I feel that if they try to fully explain it, it would bog down the movie. Sure, you could make a movie about that, but this is clearly a buddy cop action flick, not a political drama. Really, I think it could potentially be interesting to see further films set in the same universe and actually exploring some of the cultural and political themes this movie doesn't have the time or inclination to focus on.

My money on the Roman empire conquering them. Than the British empire finish the job.

If you take the premise out of context it's pretty damn hilarious.

"Two cops fight with gangs in the city over a magic wand with the power to grant wishes. One cop is an Orc."

I really hope they only have the one cringy reference to Black Lives Matter and jesus god I really hope they don't just do the Shadowrun thing and substitute Orcs for people of color.
