I started this up on Space Battles, however taking the advice given over there I decided to post it here too. I'm still pretty new to this whole Quest thing, so please bear with me.
You told your Dad that you were fine when he came in to check on you. You lied to him. He could see it on your face, but he always respected your boundaries and this was no different. Reluctantly he left you alone and went to work. That was three hours ago. You don't think you've moved so much as a centimeter since then. It didn't matter. None of it mattered.
You let down the wall in your mind, there was no point in keeping them up anymore, and your mind extends out to connect with every insect, arthropod, and worm within over three blocks of your bed. Heh, this was your power. You knew where each and every one bug was, feel everything they felt, and if you wanted to you could control them with enough control to make a single beetle wave an antenna or move an entire swarm of thousands and thousands of bodies as easily as you move your arm. It was your power.
It was going to make you a cape, a superhero! It was going to make the last year and a half, the trio's bullying, Emma's betrayal, the locker, not feeling like you were safe to even walk through the hallways of your school, worth it!
It didn't. Without any other orders from you the insects slowly start drifting towards you as last night replays in your mind over and over again. They were going to kill kids, Lung and the Azn Bad Boys. They were one of the biggest gangs in Brockton Bay right up there with the neo-nazis of Empire 88. Anything you could think of, prostitution, gambling, drug running, they did and Lung was their leader. He was strong enough to fight off the entire local Protectorate team by himself and any of the other local super heroes. You had a half finished costume, some pepper spray, and a few bugs. No one could blame you for retreating from that fight, no one but you.
Kids. They were going to shoot kids, and you just let them walk away while you hid like a coward on the rooftop. Some hero you are. You might as well have shot them yourself.
By this time enough bugs have arrived to cover every inch of your room, a carpet of carapaced bodies covering the floor, walls, and ceiling while the flyers took flew around in a large shifting blob in the middle of your room. More kept coming, drawn in by your power. The crawl through your window, out of the cracks in your wall, and underneath the door. There was a risk of someone noticing the unnatural flow of bugs in the direction of your house, but you were beyond caring. You need the comfort of their warm bodies, their soft buzzing, and the points of light that was their consciousnesses on your senses. You-
"Poor darling," You jump at the sound of a voice seemingly coming out of thin air.
"Poor little Taylor." You feel out with your bugs but there's no one there. Intangibility? No! A Stranger power? It knows your name?
"Who's there!?" You call out while scrambling out of bed and into sort of a coiled half crouch. It feels like your nerves are on fire from the adrenaline as you look wildly around for whoever could be there. From the sound of their voice it sounded female, but you weren't sure. You gather up your bugs in a thick black cloud around you ready to be used if you needed to.
"I am a friend." She chitters. Wait, chitters? "An ally. You called, and I've come."
And then she was there, a black widow the size of a golden retriever. Her exoskeleton was shiny and black as if it was made out of polished obsidian while the red hourglass on her back gleamed a bright cherry color.
"I- I called you?" You ask. You feel your power slide around her. You can't control her, or feel her senses, but the fact that you can't do that just makes her more obvious to your senses like a rock dropped in a river to deflect the flow of the water.
The giant monster spider doesn't seem to hear you though. Her ruby eyes seemed locked on to your bed spread and she was inquisitively poking it with one of her legs while muttering to herself, "Tch, just look at that stitching. What a waste. Is this machine stitched? Hm? Oh yes! You called for me darling, and I simply had to come running. True, the timing wasn't the best, I was in my web working on my latest masterpiece, but it was worth it! Black widow silk with carapace chainmail for armor? Simply exquisite!"
"My suit?" You ask feeling a bit off balance from her meandering train of thought. You relax a bit from your tense half crouch. Maybe- maybe this was ok? So evidently your powers could call giant talking teleporting (is that what she did?) spiders? Haha, yeah, sure. Let's go with that!
"Your everything!" She says in a breathy exclamation. "Your hair! Your Face! Ok, so we may have to pad the boobs a little bit, but you have so much potential! As an artiste, I simply refuse to allow such perfect material go to waste!"
"What?" You ask. Seriously, just... what? You take a step back and start massaging the headache you could already feel coming on, "Wait, wait, first off just who, and what are you?"
"Oh! Please, please forgive my rudeness! Please, call me Khepri." She says, "I've traveled from the shining brass spires of great Malfeas to follow the cry of your Soul. It's sad. So sad to see such beauty and potential tarnished."
There it was again. She was here for you? That- That felt- Ok, maybe it couldn't hurt to listen to what she has to say. You start a bit when she walks up to you and starts combing your hair out of your face. It's not because she's a giant spider. Ever since you got your power you've never had a problem with bugs, but it was the first time since Emma's betrayal that someone besides your dad touched you like that, warm and comforting instead of cruel and mocking. It was… nice.
"This world is broken." Khepri mutters more to herself than to you, "Betrayers walk free under the light of the sun while the rest of the world turns a blind eye. The proper order is broken on a daily basis. Glorious, beautiful potential is tarnished and destroyed, crushed under the heels of the ignorant."
Betrayers? Emma… Even after a year and a half that was still the part that hurt the most. If it was just Sophia and Madison it wouldn't have been so bad, but seeing your best friend stand there alongside my tormentors? You thought you had gotten used to it, but Khepri's words bring back the pain. For a moment you wonder is she knows, if she's bringing it up on purpose, but the wistful, far away tone to her voice makes you think that she's remembering something from her own past. The world was broken?
Yeah. Yeah it is! That was why you became a cape in the first place! Only… you failed… When it came down to it you chickened out...
"Oh now, darling. I just got you prettied up. No frowns, yes?" Khepri cooned trying to lift your cheeks into a smile. You couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the friendly spider's antics.
"I…" You start, thinking over your words, "Thank you, Khepri. You're right. The world is broken, but… I don't think I have it in me to be a cape…. Not after last night."
"Oh that little fracas with those unstylish boors? Seriously, red and green? What did they think they were, Calibration trees?," Khepri says wrapping you up in a four legged spirdery hug, "Why darling, I would have been concerned if you had jumped into the middle of that! All those gentlemen had those nasty Flame Pieces, and that big fella looked like he could wrestle a Erymanthoi by himself. No, no, the spider's virtue is patience. There is no shame in waiting until you are ready to strike."
"You saw that?" You ask wincing at the memory.
"I would have introduced myself darling, but it didn't look like you could have afforded the distraction."
Right. Yeah. Giant spiders appearing out of nowhere when you're laying on a roof watching a gang meeting. Not a good thing. The conversation lapses into silence for a bit before you say, "So… what happens next?"
"Well darling, you might have noticed that I'm not your garden variety itty bitty, right?" Khepri says chuckling at her own joke, "I've come from a long, long way away because I heard your soul calling out to me. I've seen your world. It's chaotic, dirty, and worst of all tacky. It's not getting better. You try, and try, but for every step forward it's another step back, right? It never ends. I'm not from here. I can't change things, but I can give YOU the power and the advice to do it."
Ohhhhhhh…. This is bad. This is really bad. A giant alien spider wants to give you powers? Wait, would that be more powers? That sort of thing only happens in old Earth Aleph comic books. He might not be the only cape capable of handing out powers, but Teacher was by far the most famous. He could hand out Thinker powers but they inevitably came with a side order of mind control. You were in way over your head here.
Khepri doesn't seem to notice the moment of sheer blind panic that shoots through you. Instead she turns away to start rummaging through your closest. In between muttering quiet critiques of your clothing under her breath she continues, "I won't lie to you darling, once you agree there will be no going back. You'll gain the power to change the world, even destroy it if you wanted to. You will be stronger than the worst monster, smarter than the greatest genius, your majesty will burn away whatever destiny you might have had to the point that none but your own actions will determine what path you take. Whatever quiet, comfortable life you have here darling? I'm sorry, but it just won't be able to stand up to that. It's a heavy burden to bear darling, I know. I'm sorry about that, but if you truly want to make a difference, to be able to make a change, it's there.
You sit down on your bed. This is a lot to take in. You need to think on it. Khepri seems to accept that and keeps curiously looking around your room while you take your time. Idly you wave your hand, sending the signal to have your swarm leave you. They go away just as efficiently as they came in, and with part of your mind you keep track of them as they go back to their regular buggy life.
Khepri seemed nice, but it was stupid to discount the idea that she could be playing you. Was it worth it though? Even if she was manipulating you, would it be worth to actually be able to make a change? To not have to hide up on a rooftop while gang members go to kill kids? It wasn't like you had much keeping you to your old life either. What would you give to be able to just forget all that shit with the trio and pretend it never happened? To be able to just walk away from that hellhole of a school? There was just one thing stopping you. It was the same thing that made you go back to that hellhole day after day; Dad.
So far you've managed to keep your powers secret from him. You know how much he'd worry if he knew you were a cape. How frightened he would be each time you went out. How angry he'd be if anyone ever hurt you. It was the same reason you've kept quiet about the Trio. It was way too easy to imagine him socking Emma's father in the jaw. If these powers were as great as Khepri promised then you doubted you would be able to continue to hide them, and what would he even say about making a deal with a giant alien spider? The safe thing to do would be to decline the offer. The safe thing to do would be to help out by using your powers to provide costumes for the Protectorate and other heroes of the city. The safe thing to do would be to work from behind the scenes to help make a difference.
The safe thing was what got those kids killed. No. Never again. You take a deep breath, and say, "I'm in."
Khepri gives you a mandibly smile at your declaration.
AND THEN SHE POUNCES!
Before you can move, before you can call your swarm she weaves her silk around and around you like a fly caught in a web. You try to throw your power at her to try and get her to stop, to do anything! It just splashes off of her. The last sight you see before the webbing covers your face are her ruby eyes.
The warm darkness inside the cocoon acts like a soporific. You find your eyelids feeling heavy and soon you're fast asleep.
Meanwhile, in the outside world There's a huge cocoon made out of spider webbing filling up your room and you've seemingly vanished from the face of the earth. In a couple of hours your Dad will come home from work. He might not discover your cocoon right away, but you're stuck in there for five days. How long until he decides to check in on you and sees it? What happens then?
[]Nothing. He worries, and it take a toll on him, but he keeps quiet about your cocoon until you hatch.
[]He tells the PRT. They don't move your cocoon, but they put it under guard.
[]He tell the PRT. They move your cocoon into a secure lab at the Protectorate Headquarters.
[]Before he can discover it the Black Jade Court, a cult of Yozi worshipers acting out of Brockton Bay, break into your house and absconds with your Cocoon.

A Massachusetts Exalted in the Black Jade Emperor's Court 1
The floor is cold beneath your feet, cracked and pitted with age. Torches alight with green fire line the ancient walls. You've been here before. You know it. Your legs move swiftly and surely to some destination even as your mind tries to unravel where it is you are. There is a doorway. An impossibly thick stone slab decorated with the sigil of the sun, but at your touch it burns green and slides out of your way.
The room beyond fills your heart with a sort of bittersweet nostalgia. It had the air of an ancient wonder whose time had past like the Colosseum in Rome or the Pyramids. Seats made of pitted and tarnished silver decorated with images of the moon, night, and the hunt swing out from the doorway one either side of you to fill the wings of a large crescent. 300 in total some part of your mind recognizes. 100 seats most noticeable for their simplicity fill in what is left by the crescent to create a large circle surrounding a ring of 300 more thrones. Glorious green sunlight shines down through the opening in the ceiling to illuminate these thrones.
Your steps quicken, completely ignoring the silver crescent in favor of the instinct drawing you down the steps towards the inner circle. Each throne is unique. Each throne is a such an exquisite work of art that calling it a masterpiece simply doesn't seem up to the task no matter the weight of the ages upon them. One is decorated with scenes of the sea, mixing together the image of the sun that seemed to be a recurring theme with that of a sea shell. Others feature pictures of golden bulls or strange occult symbols that hurt your eyes to look at. One throne draws you more than any other. It's sun-warmed gold feels warm under your touch… comfortable… familiar… There's a plaque set before it, but before you can take a look a movement in the corner of your eye makes you look up.
[Perfection.]
There's no other world for the sheer beauty that has decided to grace the skies above the chamber.
[Order]
A bonfire of pure colorless fire burns in the heart of an orb of crystal hovering over the exact center of the chamber. One hundred smaller orbs each with a lesser fire of their own orbit the first like the planet's path around the sun. 99,997 orbs lesser still weave around the rest in a spiraling dance that speaks of the grand equation underlying all of existence.
[Hierarchy]
To try to resist that dance is as futile as to try to resist the movement of one moment into the next. You step onto the fresh green grass lying at the center of the inner circle. Each step is as inevitable as the one that comes next until you stand directly underneath the central and greatest orb. The movement of the Orbs seamlessly switches to include you. The least orbs spiral around you. In their wake you can feel the heat of their colorless flames weaving around you, gifting you with a mere shard of their mistress' undeniable perfection. It burns, but it is a cleansing burn. Your imperfections are cut away. Your limitations are removed. For one brief moment you become part of that impossible, crystal clear perfection and then darkness claims you.
"-and though the Betrayers spread death and destruction in the belief that they are free of the Black Jade Emperor's holy wrath," The voice, strident and full of confidence slowly draws you out of your slumber, "My Brothers and Sisters! Our fervent prayers have been heard!"
"The day of blessed liberation is soon to come!" The walls of your cocoon wrap tightly around your form, but you can feel them start to strain and snap as you begin to move, "The chosen of our King has come onto us to serve as spear and shield in the dark days ahead!"
"Blessed is she!" You can see light through the cracks in your cocoon. As if waiting for the touch of air green and white fire erupts to life and you surge out of your confinement! "The Green Sun Princess!"
"The Green Sun Princess!"
"The Green Sun Princess!"
"The Green Sun Princess!"
….Right in front a congregation of chanting cultists all wearing matching brass, green, and black colored robes.
Oh, and you're naked. Joy.
What Do You Do?
[]Clothes!
--Holy hell, you're naked! WHY are you naked?
[]Fight
--Clothes can wait. You've been attacked by a giant spider, abducted by cultists, and you're pretty damn sure you don't want to be their Green Sun Princess. It's time for some good ol' fashioned anger management.
[]Flight
--Clothes can wait until you're not surrounded by cultists. Right now you need to get out of there and figure out what the hell just happened.
[]Interrogate
--Very "politely" ask WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE! Also ask for clothes. Clothes are good.
[]Play Along
--They want a Green Sun Princess? You'll give them a Green Sun Princess!
[]Stage Fright
--OMG! You're naked and everybody is looking at you! It's your worst nightmare come to life!
[]Observe
--Play it cool. Pay attention to what's going on around you and wait for the right moment to act.
[]Examine
--Quickly check yourself over to make sure that there's no unfortunate side effects from whatever that was.
[]Write In.
Stunt:
[]Write In- Stunts are writer food. FEED ME!
Infernals are more transhuman than evil and while their masters are horrifying it is more because they are to big and inhuman to truly understand there is anything wrong with their actions. Their exalted have thier powers but there is little to force them to serve their masters loyally nor do they necessarily need to do anything evil to accomplish many of their goals.
For example our Urge could be for the benifit of mankind as well as harm depending on how we go about it.
@GM Can we switch the SWLIHN excellency for Cecelyne's version. It is a pre-req for the charmset that most people who voted for Cecelyne as favored Yozi (Verdant Emptiness Endowment).
@ebolasos Inimacies in Exalted represent things your character has particularly strong feelings for one way or another. They're mostly used in social combat. For example if you have an Intimacy of Loyalty to some organization then it would be harder for someone to convince you to betray them however that same intimacy would make it easier to convince you to go along with a plan that you personally think is a Really Bad Idea but which the rest of the organization is dead set on pursuing.
GOOOOOOOOOD Morning all! Since I'm now doing this on two sites, I felt it best to give you an update on the current vote totals.
Observe and Clothes currently has a stupidly large lead at 9 votes, while Play Along is in second place at 4 and Examine brings up the rear at 3. Since it has over half of all the votes I plan on starting to write for Observe and Clothes, but don't let that stop you from voting! It wouldn't be too hard to switch to Play Along in the event of an upset.
If Observe & Clothes wins then you'll miss out on the chance to switch SWLIHN's excellency for Cecelyne's since the stunts provided so perfectly fit SWLIHN's theme, which in turn means that you'll have to earn Cecelyne's excellency some other way in order to get all the cool wish granting charms she has.
Um, why is Taylor split between three Yozi?
The Urge/Torment Yozi needs to be either your Caste or Favored, so it need to be changed to SWLIHN/Cecelyne or Favored needs to be changed to Kimbery.
I posted this on both SB and SV at the same time and counted your votes equally. It's just that a lot more people voted on it at SB than here.
I'm house ruling that the urges are randomly assigned and aren't connected to caste or favored. The random number god decided Kimbery and so here we are.
Update should come sometime today provided I manage to break through this writer's block.

This is wrong the time stamp on the SB thread shows that you started it on Tuesday at 1:40 pm and the second game post at Wednesday at 8:53.
You also started this thread on Wednesday at 8:21 pm and the second in game post is at 8:22 pm the same day this means there was only a one minute windows to vote on the first question as well as by this point the SB thread had also had the chance to vote on what Taylor's favored Yozi would be.

[X] Observe & Clothes
'This is too surreal' You think to yourself taking a step back. You were standing on some sort of stage. The wood felt rough and splintery under your feet, like the type of thing that a crowd of people with more enthusiasm than skill would throw together in an afternoon. Judging by the wild enthusiasm of the cultists surging in front of the stage you wouldn't be surprised if that ended up being just the case after all. Scraps of silk and webbing from your cocoon lay scattered across it slowly burning with the same green and white flames that seemed to cover you from head to toe.
The flames didn't hurt. Actually, they didn't feel like much of anything at all. It was just felt like if your… you was swollen up bigger than what could be contained by your body if that made any sense. Conveniently it was bright enough to allow you to see just where you were. It looked like the basement of some store or something. There were stairs leading up on the other side of the crowd guarded by a lanky guy completely covered in bandages, and the stone brick walls were decorated with green, brass and black curtains interspersed with glowing neon pictograms. Every so often more bursts of neon would launch out of the crowd like fireworks. A couple of times you catch a glimpse of a girl your age firing them off, but she moves through the crowd too fast for you to follow.
Unfortunately while your own personal bonfire provided more than enough light to see by, it didn't seem to actually produce any heat, and the chill of the underground room brings you back to your distinct lack of clothes. While the cult leader strides back and forth across the stage roaring out something in some foreign language you cast your mind out for your bugs. Maybe they could cover you up, or at least provide some warmth? Only when you reach out for the familiar points of light you end up swatting at empty air. Your mental hand flails around in the emptiness left by your power until finally it manages to grab on to something. It's not a bug, you don't know what it is. It feels thin, and cool, and stretchy to your senses, like something halfway between a sheet of fabric and a pool of liquid. Whatever it is, you grab on and pull it up to try and cover yourself.
You're surprised when your shadow surges up around you and even more surprised when something at the back of your mind grabs hold and starts shaping it like a potter shapes clay. Thin, draping fabric flowing down your body, half evening gown, half robe. A mantle over that to give the suggestion of a cape without actually being a cape. Slits along the side for movement, and silver thread tracing out the patterns formed by the movements of the least orbs finishes it off.
It… well, ok, it certainly solved the whole clothing problem, however from the way the crowd falls silent and stares at you, it might have caused more problems than it solved.
The Cult Leader jumps right into the silence. You couldn't see much of him, just a pair of glowing eyes in the shadow of his hood, but his voice brings to mind every news anchor you've ever heard as he says, "Brothers and Sisters! Already you see the truth before you! She drapes herself in holiest Azure!"
He turns to you and you get the feeling that he's smiling as he offers a hand to you, "Please, Green Sun Princess, step forward and tell us by what name we may call you."
Crap! Name... name…. name…. name... You still haven't thought of a name! You're pretty sure that you didn't want to be their Green Sun Whatever, however the only way you can see to get out of there is to play along until the right moment comes along.
"I- uh…" You start to say desperately casting around for some sort of name. What? What? There has to be something! Your blue robe! Blue… something. Blue Stage? Blue Stairs? Bluuuuuuuuue…. Blue?
'You know darling, there's some who call your caste Glass Spiders. I must say I'm rather partial to that title for obvious reasons,' What? Khepri? Her voice rings out in your head. Oh you will have to have words with that spider! Whatever. That can wait.
"Glass Spider," You say taking the cult leader's hand. He draws you forward and raises up your hand like a referee naming a new world heavyweight boxing champion. The crowd goes wild again and from there the meeting quickly devolves into a party. There's punch and cookies, and music blaring out of a portable radio.
The cult leader leaves the stage to make his rounds through the cultists. You briefly consider taking this opportunity to try and escape, but you notice that the bandage wrapped guard still standing at his post at the base of the stairs. You could get some food, though there's that whole "don't drink the punch" thing, and the music from the radio isn't completely horrible… Other than that the only other thing of interest is the girl you saw earlier now using her neon powers to pull off a one woman rave.
It's a party! Admittedly, it's a part held by cultists who worship you as a "Green Sun Princess" and may or may not have kidnapped you, but it's still a party! What are you going to do?
The top two options will be included in the next update and remember, stunts are always appreciated!
[]Drink the Punch
--Yeah right, poisoned punch only happens on TV. You're smarter than that, also you're hungry.
[]This is my Jam
--The music calls you to the dance floor and you're powerless to resist!
[]Talk to the Cult Leader
--You have some questions and you think it's past due for you to get some answers.
[]Talk to the Guard.
--More than anything you need to get home and figure out just what the hell happened. If you talk with him maybe you'll figure out some way to get him to let you pass?
[]Talk to Neon Girl
--She's the only one here around your age and obviously a parahuman sooooo why not?
[]Talk to Khepri
--"You got some 'splaining to do!"
[]Talk to some cultists.
--There's mothers and fathers here. Regular people of all ages. Why would they join a cult like this?
[]Experiment with your powers
--A cape's powers are their lifeline. While transformation sequence powers are nice, if you can't rely on your regular powers then you're up a creek without a paddle!

Excellencies
If it was up to me I would waffle endlessly between which type of excellency to go with so I'm putting it to rest with an official vote.
[]She Who Lives In Her Name Excellencies- Makes you better at doing things when you do them precision and only the exactly right amount of force needed.
[]Cecelyne Excellencies- Makes you better at doing things when you take your time to prepare or when you give people things in order to be able to control them. Required for Cecelyne's gift giving charms.
