Second, I don't think they should've waved off the third entity... and wow, did they ever sidestep their connection cauldron. Heh.

Well, I'll say this about their reaction to the Destroyer: Contessa never mentioned it when she discussed what she knew of the threat posed by the entities so, so Alexandria assumed it wasn't a threat. This may or may not be true. ;)

Also, Alexandria can be quick on her feet, what with her enhanced speed of thought, bodily control and perfect memory. Even so, with a man with a built in lie detector standing right next to her and the world's best Tinker watching and possibly recording everything, that was one smooth deflection.
