Aria's Advisor (Mass Effect SI)

Again I'm not sure Aria cares about you to the point where she'll cover for you.
As a person? Hell no.

As a source of information, so big, that the 'mild mannered' Tevos breaks face and flips her shit?

That, I would think, would be worth her stepping in.

Nope (agreeing with you). Which is why my in-story plan ended with the spectacularly bad end of getting thrown into a wall.

My out-of-story plan, the plot-outline, though, isn't going to fail. It's decently well thought out, and I'd like to think it makes all parties act realistically enough.

It didn't actually fail, it just didn't succeed the way you wanted it to. Tevos wouldn't have reacted like that if she didn't know you were about to tell the truth, and Valern and Sparatus could not have missed that. It's only a matter of time now until the STG starts investigating Asari worlds, looking for something big even if they don't know what it is. And the capital will be the first on their list.

But what's my goal?

I don't want the Council divided, I need them united, preparing for the Reapers.

If every race is fighting amongst themselves when the Reapers arrive, we don't have a snowballs chance in hell.

Tevos may be thinking that Aria will back her in killing the other two councilors and pinning the blame on a Lone fanatic/Cerberus operative in exchange for massive future favors.

Strange thought. What if this thread was actually your thoughts, as a coping mechanism for the fact that you are stuck in the ME verse?
Interesting, but no. This is not a ROB/SI, this is just a normal SI.

And if this was my delusions, I would expect a lot more images of guns and ladies. Just saying.

Heh. Aria's got a role in that little conversation, but it's not that. She wouldn't help Tevos out, she practically owns Tevos.

That's if it was a cold war, not a hot one. The difference between the two is close enough that I'm not confidant in my ability to hit the difference perfectly. I am but a mere human, barely into adulthood, disregarded by most authority figures.

Just gonna leave this up here. Only half of the usual snip, but I've had a rash of tests, so I should be having a little more free time soon.

Chapter 5.6 (Snip 7.0)

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Ow.

"Oh…" I groan, slowly returning to the land of consciousness with the pang of a headache. My head is pounding, like I'd gone seven rounds with David again, but that impression is ruined when I get a stab of pain and stiffness in my shoulder blades.

How the fuck did I get my upper back smashed up? No one I know can throw a hook kick that high, and if they dropped me to the ground to get access to my back, I would have a lot more injuries than just my back…

Slowly, carefully, I prize upon my eyelids, trying to avoid the glare but failing. "Anybody get the number on that bus?" I moan sardonically.

"Well, if you want to go with that story, it saves me the trouble."

…the fuck?

Sluggishly, I sit up, futilely grasping for a handhold on the smooth artificial walls. The lines and waves before my eyes temporarily increase in number and exuberance, but quickly fade, and I manage to look over at the blue woman sitting in a chair beside me.

"Blue?" I mumble, my headache clearing, but not quite fast enough for me to regain my wits. "We're not playing Dux' in interhouse rugby for another hour, Mr. P, I swear."

"Oh, cute, he's rambling." the smooth Asari voice cuts through my haze, and in a flash of sobriety, I remember where and when I am.

"Or I could be messing with you." I reply, though the glibness of the comment is ruined by my raspy tone. Looking to the side, I lean over to the convenient sink-toilet and spit out the gunk in my mouth.

I get a better look at the Asari, and my eyes widen a little.

"Vasir?" I question automatically, before wincing and shutting up.

"My, my," says Tela Vasir knowingly, a smirk on her face. "I've got a fanboy."

"It would be you, wouldn't it?" I groan, sighing.

Wait a minute… Holy fuck, this is the best opportunity I could have gotten.

I can't help it, I start smirking again, my familiar grin lighting up my face like a Christmas tree. Vasir, of course, notices instantly.

"Don't even think about it, punk." she warns teasingly, though I know her tone is just another mask.

"Madame Vasir," I say warmly, standing up and giving her a little bow. "So pleased to make your acquaintance. I am Nick, a purveyor of arcane knowledge and forbidden secrets."

My grin morphs into my usual smirk, and I chuckle a little at Vasir's annoyed glance; clearly, she's seen this act before. My smirk grows as my amusement does; she might have had other people try to bribe or blackmail her, but she's never met me. Briefly, I ponder my own arrogance, but with a practiced motion I disregard that thought as I continue to speak, turning my tone into a little lower, just barely more secretive.

"Care to make a deal?"

Ya know if Aria didn't have such a tight little collar over you the answer would be triple tap. '

also what are the limits of asari mind melding. Trying to think of why you've yet to be seduced or raped.

I've been exploring the limits of melding via canon, fanon, and some of my own work. I won't go into the details here, because I don't know them (in-story) yet, and I want it to be a little bit of a surprise.

If the mind-meld of this little piece happens to be different, then consider it the tiniest divergence into AU. Considering the rest of the story is mainline canon, it shouldn't ruffle too many feathers.

you mean that literally or figuratively?
Snidely literally, actually. The Turians and Salarians are not going to be thrilled with the Asari keeping a secret that big from their 'partners' and co-rulers of the Galaxy.

The Real question is 'was it worth it for Tevos to knock me out before I said Thessia?'

On one hand, it lends some weight to my argument. Whatever I was going to say, Sparatus and Valern know it was important enough to break common mannerisms.

On the other, Tevos can say that by stopping me from saying Thessia, she has a slight bit more leeway, at least in terms of the location of whatever superpower I'm talking about.

Don't forget, they don't have a location.
John117xCortana said:
If she tries to say that he's lying he could say that if they want proof he'll take them to Thessia and show them how to activate the artifact.
Which is exactly JohnxCortana's point is. If I had gotten the word Thessia out, there's a slightly smaller chance that Tevos can recover the situation, and STG and Turian Intel will be doing their own follow-up operations later.

The way it is, they'll be curious, but they have to get to me first, which I doubt Tevos is going to do. If I were Tevos, I'd order Vasir to mind-rape me for all my intel, then dispose of the corpse with a disintegrator/flamethrower. Which might be what she's told Vasir to do.

But almost all of you have missed the elephant in the room. This wasn't just a normal bit of blackmail and bribery for the Council, because usually you deal with blackmailers one group at a time.

hpackrat said:
What figurative elephant are you referring to? Rather curious as to how Tevos managed to leave the council chambers with you without the others preventing her from doing so. Were the others present only as holograms? Wouldn't they send operatives to steal you away from Vasir? What is Aria doing during all this?
All of this next time, on Dragon Ball- I mean Aria's Advisor!

Much better, though you're thinking far to complex.

Asking what Aria's doing during all of this isn't as informative as -

And more importantly for the SI's long term health (given the name of the thread) ... what does Aria think of his actions and how they reflect upon her?
Damnit, ninja'd.

Still, though, why was Aria there in the first place? What was her business with the Asari Councilor (who, if you remember ME3, is Aria's bitch), and why would Tevos have such a reaction while Aria was in the room?

It means you were behind the plot to steal Quebec's strategic reserve of maple syrup, obviously.
Personally, I prefer the maple syrup from B.C. It's superior, mostly because you don't have to talk to Quebec'ers to get it. (Had a few Quebec roommates in school, a few bad apples ruin the bunch)
Pyrion said:
She knows. I wouldn't be surprised if Aria knows as well. Probably the whole top echelon of Asari society knows.
Well, to address this question late, the whole top echelon of Asari Society does not know, only a few of the most elite Matriarchs. Benezia did not know, and we all know that if Aethyta knew, we'd have already destroyed the Reapers.

Changing the Timeline? This isn't AU.

How did you think Aria became so powerful?

I'm not trying to change the canon to fit my purposes, I'm trying to fill in the gaps and plotholes, while making sure it's not an eyesore.
