The problem here is having hyper-precise precognition in the first place. That thing is narrative poison.

Exactly my point.

Let's stop at "As long as there is multiverse-predicting with atomic precision", and solve the problem with "there isn't".

Tadah! Functional setting where everyone isn't a chump that has been manipulated from behind the scenes!

And that's why I made a point of how Worm is first and foremost attempt to rationalize comic book setting a little. It wanted to play with typical tropes and make Superhero Kitchen Sink; hyper-precise precognition and weird multiversal space things which for some reason give a shit about Earth are valid tropes of the genre.

I can't claim to know ES' plans, but I get the sense that most of the endgame stuff from Worm (Simurgh, Number Man, Contessa, Scion, etc.) won't really play a visible part in Imago. It just doesn't jive well with the themes I've seen so far, and ES just mentioned how important such things are to him when writing.

He did mention something about street level, so it's possible. ES moves in strange ways, so we'll see.

Bitching about Worm qua canon Worm belongs elsewhere.

In actual on-topic discussion, Kirsty's characterization of the Gray Men and their masters is actually quite interesting. From what she says and what we've seen through Taylor's eyes, the Gray Men themselves are a sort of metaphysical golem, created as servants and emblazoned with a purpose or order that guides them.

As well, Kirsty makes it clear that the bird woman was not singular, and that there are bird men too. So, a cadre or race of...specialists? Lieutenants? with supernatural powers as well.

Then we come to her description of the masters. Aligned neither to the Devil (the Abyss? The S9 virus?) or to God (the source of Mage power, the Traditions?). But they have stolen some of God's power (magic) for their own, and they are bad men and women.

I'm going to be honest here, this whole setup sounds like nothing so much as it does the Technocracy.

I wonder if that's a more general thing.
It is of all the experienced GMs I've ever gamed with, including myself. There are always holes in the settings, even with a published module the players will run off and find gaps in the setting so it's easiest to view it as a framework you build your actual stuff on.

So yeah, it's at least a 'general GM thing' I feel.

There is no evidence at present to suggest that Scion exists in Imago.

However, I would note that the Endbringers are playing a massive and visible part in Imago. All you need to do is look around the setting and you can see what they're doing. They don't even need to necessarily appear on screen, but their impact is everywhere and warps everything.

Just imagine what one showing up in person with its full glory unveiled would do.

(Also, you can trust me that even if all of the rest of Cauldron doesn't exist, the Number Man is still in the background being the shadow banker for many criminal organisations. Because dammit, the mysterious banker who launders funds and hides investments and has super-calculation powers is just pretty - and plays within the rules of the setting and society)

The effect they have on the setting is clear. All I meant was that I doubt we'll get a whole arc devoted to an Endbringer battle (then again, you've defied my expectations before, and to delightfully entertaining results).

Fairly certain Endbringers are genderless. :p

Cauldron just doesn't jive well with any Fanfiction that doesn't want to slavishly adhere to worms plot because their presence inevitably looms large over any alternative storyline if you treat them as the secret super powerful society they're meant to be.

And if you don't tear them like that they just end up being really pathetic (even moreso than they were written in worm proper which was already pretty impressive in how pathetic it made cauldron seem. Like seriously your shadow conspiracy controls basically the entire Western world and actually fucking had a win button and you suffer from Cerberus syndrome? Really handing them the idiot ball there wildbow).

We could, you know, not discuss a group that hasn't even appeared, and if they do appear will be completely rewritten. Because they're utterly irreverent at this point.

"He did," she said, smiling despite her tears. "T-Taylor, your angels are creatures of truth. These are the ways that they search for sinners; firstly, by the light of life and flesh and blood, secondly by the light of semblance and image, thirdly and most weakly by the reflected light of the experience of others. Your angels are the servants of St Peter, who knows m-men by the names they shall be known on Judgment Day, and you shall sit at their head when the sins of all men are judged. But as they – and you – are servants of j-judgement, without such a name they find it hard to see in this ash-filled world."
You want to know what my first read on that bit of information was? That the 'angels' can't find the Japanese students because their names are not Christian names. The idea that Kristen's worldview could explain something other perspectives couldn't really creeped me out.

Oh, indeed.

One of the things I want to leave very unclear is where Kirsty's lines between mental illness, "how she understands her powers" and "but maybe something actually is communicating with her" lie.

At the moment, Taylor thinks she's a mixture of mentally unwell and she understands her powers through religion. But there are occasional moments when Kirsty creeps Taylor out and Taylor starts to think that she might actually be talking to something that you could call "God".

Taylor doesn't like feeling like that - and gets a bit angry at the thought of any god that would be using someone like Kirsty as a vessel, because Kirsty has enough problems as it is and doesn't need that on top of everything else.

The solution is to invade heaven, murder all gods and end all oppression forever. :V
Yeah but then taylor has to worry about someone else seizing power and being just as oppressive (like the grey men and bird people). so the only real solution is to seize power herself as she's the only one that has demonstrated the will to fight oppression. no one else can be trusted with power she must guard it jealously. :V

Taylor! Clearly the solution is to climb into Heaven and punch god in the face! And kick him out! And take his throne!

Hmm. You'll need some sort of way to get up there, obviously. Maybe a ladder of some sort. Some mystically potent metal, maybe. :p

Edit: Dammit, ninja'd.

She should also have Kirsty with her.

Kirsty is best waifu.

I don't ninja people, I strategically use Forces 2/Space 2 to delay their posts long enough for my own to arrive first.

But first she'll have to figure out how to fight all these demons and keep them as pets.

Can't punch the Demiurge without 'em, after all.

Especially with the world in hard mode.

Matador gon' give it to ya
