An Everdistant Horizon (Worm/Horizon Series)

Hopefully when RCB tries to gain control of Taylor, the girl would have enough supporters from the politicians and public to stymie the b**ch. Especially among the rescued.

In the darkness of the previous night, hope was a shining blue light.
Ziz in orbit being like: "And Despair will have to be a harsh red."
I really hope "oh, you had a heart attack at less than 20 years old" might be a clue to this version of Taylor to take it a little easier - sure, she's staring down the apocalypse, but at the same time she'll get more done overall if she accepts that she can't always be going at full break-neck speeds.
I think this Taylor will think that it's just time to accelerate med-sci side for some upgrades, she even has an added benefit of helping one of her patrons that has some unspecified medical issue. :V

The Endbringer attack to give her the PR win she needed to get further funding was a pretty good reason to go full bore, but now that she's done that she's transitioned from a sprint to a marathon, and she's gonna need to realize that.

Everything's going well and Costa-Brown seems to be seething at this miracle of technology.
RCB is seething because Taylor is NOT UNDER HER CONTROL, and being the righteous control freak that she is, just can't abide someone else being more intelligent, forward thinking, and straight up SMARTER than she is. Especially when Taylor is only a teenager! And NOT, technically, a parahuman. Taylor builds thinkertech, not black boxed crap, and it grates on Lexi's nerves something fierce that they can't take her over.

Counterpoint: Taylor Hebert. This sort of thing is depressingly and intensely in character for her.

Ain't nobody going to poopoo Zenith now. This is the best publicity they could possibly have gotten. "When no one else came, when all seemed lost… those machines just kept going".

And the government is definitely going to back her as hard as necessary. If they can toss a Light Rescue Lance at endbringer cleanup on a regular basis they're going to be saving a lot of lives.

Never has my avatar been more appropriate.

Hope is a warm blue light indeed.

"If this is a Light Rescue Lance, then what the hell could she do with a HEAVY Rescue Lance?!"

No Taylor is a Parahuman. What she isn't is a Tinker, and thus not subject to all the Tinker restrictions Alexandria tried to claim in the previous chapter on Tinkertech.
Also Taylor isn't a Cape because she refuses to play the Game and run around in a silly costume, instead choosing to (gasp) make the world a better place using her parahuman powers.

Light Rescue is for when humanity is lightly in danger (scale, not threat). Heavy Rescue is when she decides humanity is imminently doomed and stops taking 'no, wait' for an answer.

Thunderjaws, Longnecks, Stormbirds, and Tiderippers galore.

Somehow confused this fic with another where her Corona was atrophied and NOT in any way shape or form active. (and don't ask which because I've read far too many to recall the title)

Ooops.

So... To what extent did Panacea heal her? The chapter ended on a success story for her technology which will lead to folks striving for success for her company, but the efforts there are sources of character drama and her personal state is a source of character drama.

The burrower's CPU glitch? That it being cute?

Having already met Taylor, and gotten an earful hearing her sister being chewed out, she likely did the minimum to keep Taylor alive. Repairs to her heart and other vital organs was probably the only thing she touched. Taylor still needs to change her diet and eat more consistently too, but she's gonna be ravenous for a while once she wakes up.

Alexandria shows up as a void in the Focus's scans... Jack took a Focus to DC... I can already hear Kyle (from South Park) yelling out Shenanigans and pointing accusingly at Director Costa Brown.

Also, does anyone think Taylor might decide to break out cloning early so that their are more of her to work on things? Imagine dozens of 8 year old versions of her running around her facility.

"This was not what I meant when I said to teach her delegation," Jack pinched his nose as two copies of Taylor walked by in child size lab coats.

Alexandria has a body double, yeah? Also, I don't think the model being used for communication includes the details on the inside of the frame?
