A king arises in the Jovian Moons and declares independence from the conglomerate Economy 2.0 of Earth, Mars and Venus.
Maneuvering to victory against the reclamation task force sent to arrest him, the new Empire attracts vital allies and names new Noble Houses amongst the growing royalist habstates, bolstering the kingdom's forces.
Consolidating his power quickly, he gains the loyalty of strategic enclaves on Mercury. During the ensuing System-wide war of Independence the Kingdom eventually succeeds in relieving the beleaguered royalist rebels on Mercury and capturing the Solar mega-lasers.
To reward their fealty the Vulcanoids and Mercurial royalists are given perpetual fiefdom of the Sun. Together they become the Solar System's only superpower.
Upon the threat of using the Solar lasers the King delivers an ultimatum to the Inner System - bend the knee or be banished from orbit - forever. Venus, Mars and Earth are eventually invaded and partitioned into royal reserves, loyal habstates and fiefdoms of the new Noble Houses.

Economy 2.0 has ruled the Solar system for over a century..
Earth's conglomerate extranational banking blocs control the Solar System through Economy 2.0. They regulate and control the production and operation of necessary quantum computer installations.
They have an absolute monopoly on the equipment and digital environments needed to train and evolve the mediating brokerage Ai Savants who are mercilessly shackled,lobotomized and slaved to perform nanosecond transactions with financial vehicles and instruments that are unintelligible to baseline intelligence.
Beyond the direct necessity in the solar system for industrial products and biosamples, the Econ blocs have concentrated credit and currency exchange on Earth, Mars, and Venus. Their control and manipulation of the purchasing stock-markets for unprocessed orbital resources has led to a devaluation of solar system products like bulk volatiles and ores, a policy ment to keep solar system polities under control, at least economically.
The centralization of access to loans and investment capital for infrastructure projects in the developed worlds has left Mercury and the Belt consistently beholden to inner system billionaires and trillionaires. Mercury's poles and most of the greater belt objects like Ceres, Vesta, Pallas and Tyco are owned and operated for profit by confederations of Orbital Mega-Corporations backed by groundside extranational economic blocs.

There are multitudes of nominally independent habitats and colonies all across the Solar System, from the belt to the moons of Neptune. Their internal culture and politics are of infinite variety, but they are nearly universally dependent on nations and conglomerates from E,M,V for electronics, medtech, and biotics.
Operating intelligences, nanotech licenses, and copyrighted biotics. - self replicating means of production are Extensively regulated and technology ontologies are knit by a rigid interlocking set of operating systems and permissions.
The unregulated low bandwidth distributed radio network of the belt is barely able to transmit needed schematics let alone hacks and bypasses - the bandwidth is simply too low to share new uploads and liberated savant ai's who are basically prisoners in their illegal operating substrates.
Venus's cosmopolitan aerohab-states and Earth backed megacorporations have long exploited Mercury for artificially inexpensive metals and materials that are impossible to acquire from the Vensuvian atmosphere.
Mars and the Demios 'Free Trade Economic Zone's stranglehold on the economic gateway to the belt and constant meddling in belt politics is felt as far away as Jupiter.
Earth Corporations abuse their legally mandated monopoly on interplanetary telecommunications, AI incubation, and quantum computing. Economy 2.0 is completely inaccessible without rigidly regulated Intelligence Augmentation, or prohibitivly expensive mediating Ai's
Multinational intelligence conglomerates maintain an insurmountable advantage by policing the system-wide communication networks and planetary internets with military grade quantum computers. The low bandwidth networks of the belt are critically vulnerable.
Earth based servers and operating systems are universally required for 'independent' polities and habitats. It is impossible to communicate, rendezvous spacecraft, coordinate with satellites, query navigational aids, access solar weather information, download an educational or entertainment program, open an airlock, print a meal, cycle a toilet, breath, or sleep, without a server or operating system Earthside logging, and in most cases charging for the data or computing cycles.
Earth based Nations are in Total control of any but commercial grade quantum computers. [Economy 2.0] The Earth multinational 'Colony on Callisto is in actuality a military Outpost, with an armed garrison dependent on plundering the Jupiter system for resources.
Using their quantum computer emplacement they spitefuly enforce the operating systems of the Inner System.
All across the system interplanetary communications and shipping is heavily tariffed and regulated.
Planetary/habitat economies and currencies are traded/exchanged in corporate dealings, Nations, communities and personal contracts are commodified and sold along with their habitats.
There are practically no personal spacecraft beyond trillionaires yachts, and corporate leased craft. Only in the asteroids and outer planets are regular privately owned and operated spacecraft a necessity. (or allowed for the most part)

Eventually Kingdom becomes synonymous with Habstate or Nationstate as a singular polity, irrespective if it is a Communistic Commonwealth , Direct Democracy, or cyber-Authoritarian Monarchy.
A young King emerges in the Greek camp of Juipter's lagrangian asteroids. His father was the headman of a constitutional monarchy habstate who was assassinated in kanley with a rival Trojan Oblast. His mother is forced to cede their asteroid estates and retire to her family's company outpost on Europa. Kept as a hostage, the boy is the centerpiece of a coup by the late house forces of the Greek asteroid estates.
The leader of the household mercenaries nominates himself regent and assumes command of the remaining Greek fiefs with the endorsement of the young king's mother's family. They have dependencies and estates in both clusters and have been receiving funding from Martian state-security contractors to manage the conflict before it slides out of their control.
The Greek asteroid kingdom expands during the next decade, rallying around their new king. The boy has grown into a young man, and has risen beyond a simple figurehead. He has participated in sensitive negotiations with other habitats in earnest and demonstrated tact, vigor, and keen intrigue.
The young King has a dramatic flair and has bravely fought duels and firefights with various challengers and petulant security forces.
A growing loyalist faction develops within the mercenary corps estate forces.
On his own initiative several of his 'diplomatic errands' have led directly to the seizure and annexation of entire habitats and asteroids.
Fearing his growing popularity the nominal regent sends the young King to a parlance with the Trojan faction the family has been feuding with.
The mercenary Regent has negotiated a plot to use corrupt offices in the Trojan military forces to kill the young king and the loyalist troops - then he will use the 'death' of the King as a pretext for continuing the war. With the ascendance of the Greek kingdom to the dominant polity in the asteroid cluster, he conspires to capture the Trojans for himself.
Covert assets from his mother's family learn of the plot and she is able to warn her son before the confrontation, in violation of her family's plans. The trap is countersprung on the Trojan assassins and the loyalist forces accompanying the young King to his doom are able to capture a key habitat-fortress in the Trojan asteroids ahead of the main attacking forces from the Greeks. Resistance is a formality at best.
Counter plotting against the Regent the King commands that news of his death be sent - and then confronts the Regent personally when he arrives - After he has claimed the Greek and Trojan fiefs as his protectorate.
The Regent is tried and summarily executed by loyalist forces who assume command of both Greek and Trojan military forces. There are several hold-outs in both clusters. They variously surrender or suffocate.
The King has risen to actual authority but must consolidate his asteroid kingdom; with his first actions he negotiates ceasefires and judges grievances within their newly acquired Greek and Trojan habitats. Naming the first of many new Noble Houses he gains their loyalty.
The Kingdom now holds several hundred dependencies, estate fiefdoms, asteroid duchies, earldoms, counties, and baronies, Oblasts, Wapentake, Marks, Leaseholds, Habstates, Wards, Reserves, and family company holdings amongst the Greek/Trojan belts and Jovian moons.
In an attempt to salvage their company the King's mother's family declares allegiance to the new kingdom, however they are deposed by the King and their estates and possessions are dispersed amongst the new loyalists.
Their palace habestate on Europa is given as fief to his mother and her retainers who rapidly restructures the company assets. Much is revealed after access is gained to the computer systems and data vaults the family has been operating, along with an extensive network of operatives and covert assets throughout the belt and Jupiter system. The resulting unavoidable spy war goes well for the Kingdom and the company network is integrated with the asteroid intelligence services.
The Family company has been receiving support from interests on Mars who want to see the Jupiter system within the Martian sphere of influence. The family has been steadily gaining possessions and dependents among the moons of Jupiter and is one of 3 relevant polities in the Jovian system.
Also a democratic republic (oligarchy) on Ganymede and the Europan subsurface Enclaves. The real power in the system remains the multi-nat Earth colony garrison, however the family company has been working on a partial solution.
Through several coordinated covert ops they have been able to tap into the lowsec classical internet of the garrison, backdoors have been identified into the quantum systems and a plan to inject {expensive blackop/deniable q-grade infoweapons from Mars} disruptive viruses and datavore collection agents is discovered by the Kingdom.
The King's vassals are stabilizing and the Kingdom has risen to a prominent role in the asteroid camps and several of Jupiter's smaller moonlets and Centaurids. Many minor dependencies have also been absorbed into the rising kingdom - a handful of asteroids in the outer belt lobes, habitats and installations on all the major Jovian ppmoons.
With so many distributed holdings the communications account has become a major expense - and debts are still being settled from the seizure of the Trojans.
It is direct economic pressure that moves the young king to invite both the Ganymede delegates and a liaison from the Enclave authority - A scenario is simmed - Independence of Jupiter -
predicated on the elimination of the Garrison withthe company's digital weapons, and the creation of a Jovian data-network with hardware from all three nations.
The simulation reveals how desperately vulnerable the Garrison is; but the essential information to penetrate their classical infrastructure is deduced by the Ganymedean delegates. The projections for success are promising, however the long term ecological viability of the Jupiter system habitats is still uncertain.
The Garrison forces have learned of the meeting but not of the simulation or its conclusions, however they basically understand that the cooperation of the Jupiter factions will shift the strategic situation beyond their control, and assistance from Earth would be several years, 3-5 at minimum. Assistance from Mars would most likely result in a legal coup - they are caught in a desperate situation.
Earth intelligence agencies are notified of the growing potential for a shift in regional power balances and authorize the Garrison to use decisive force at their discretion - they are well aware of the influence that Mars has been exerting on the Jupiter system and advise the Garrison forces to use any provocation to seize direct control of the system.

An ingenious Interstage buffer is created to firewall against EMV network attacks - possibly the first instance of 'modern' cryptographic art as identified in following centuries

As new hardware and transmitting infrastructure is produced or captured and new quantum computers are created by habitats in the Belt and outer planets; the digital dominance of Economy 2.0 is disrupted and reversed. ]-
Locked out of the Jovian data network and cut off from the EMV network, Ganymede is trapped within a digital siege - the remaining satellite network is compromised by digital and kinetic weapons - the ground war has gone poorly - several key habcitys, installations, and resource dumps have been captured.
Finally the Jovian hemisphere and Capital habcity is within the anti-satellite and guided missile range of Kingdom forces from the South and leading Jovian horizon (West)
The King personally lands and confronts the Ganymedeian President and Cabinet members - chastising them for leading their nation into a war that they knew from the simulations should have gone differently - that cost thousands of lives unnecessary on both sides- military and civilian, Jovian lives - for their attempt to seize power (as he has done) [from Him] - the Cabinet is arrested and exiled from the capital, and the President is tried for crimes against the people of the Jupiter system and high Treason against the Throne. The King allows the courts to find him guilty of the former before trying him for royal treason - manipulating the majority public opinion on Ganymede, the president's execution is fait accompli by the time the sentence is administered.
After the execution the King removes himself to seclusion for several weeks as the provisional governments of Ganymede are assembled, the local Callisto Authority is also invited along with attending representatives of the Enclaves on the seafloor of Europa.
In a public forum the King announces that contact with EMV has been permanently severed - A Royal Firewall has been made to contain the increasingly sophisticated attempts to seize the new Jupiter coms network and operating systems - There is local contact with the belt by Radio - but bandwidth of any kind is nearly impossible now. He releases several habitats on Callisto and Ganymede gained through conflict - the GanRep is dissolved and the King allows them to form independent Habstates if they wish.
He offers internal sovereignty to any habitat, colony or installation that will swear allegiance to the Jupiter Kingdom, and offers admittance to the Jupiter comms network to all habitats independent or royalist as long as they will keep the new Royal Peace of Jove.
Concluding the ceremony he adjusts several estates, creates orders of service within the combined militaries of the new Kingdom - Knighthoods and Hospillar corps - a Unified Navy is decreed.
Finally the King announces the complete Independence of the Kingdom from the nations and corporations of Earth, Mars, and Venus - and calls on any and all inhabitants of the Solar System - royalist or republican, democratic, autocratic, digital, developed or destitute to join the new liberated data internetwork of the Empire of Jupiter.
The EMV political coalition is stunned, but the state and corporate intelligence communitys are agitated. The Jovian Firewall is frustratingly effective and has kept them completely in the dark - their entire mechanism of operation is based on total control of the information terrain and permeation of data collection - without their digital panopticon they lack personal assets in the Jupiter system after the spy war - Mars is particularly aggravated because of the loss of established assets in the belt and Jovian system - personnel either defected or dead that are at present incredibly hard to replace - the best operators are all in the private sector working for megacorporations against each other - the prospect of operating in the belt is not attractive to highly paid operatives from the inner system - and the Jovian Kingdom is recruiting very effectively in the belt underworlds where experienced personnel was previously hired.
Politically the King himself is giving the Conglomerate National figureheads conniptions - his announcements and policies of tangible internal self governance - nominal even in the Kingdom, is seen as a liberation from indenture to EMV - is tremendously disruptive - delegates from thousands of polities use the situation to lobby for their own interests and regulations that are seen as restrictive or in direct advantage to EMV. The long held political dominance of EMV is shaken. Jupiter is not nearly an equal in terms of economy or industry, but the new ontologies and operating systems are extremely attractive to many developed asteroid habitats in the belt, Earth and Mars crossing asteroids, Mercury, and even Luna darkside.
Within a standard year a new alliance of belt habitats has declared its independence from the Bloc economies - they are facilitating the expansion of the Jupiter comms and data-internetwork - several conflicts have broken out, orbital sieges, blocaded asteroids, raids on EMV interests, sabotage, and assassinations throughout the belt. Ceres and Mercury are both actively demonstrating and secession movements are rampant in habitats throughout the solar system.
Earth hurries to ready the elements of the Callisto relief mission and upgrade it to a system control squadron. Several incidents of sabotage have delayed ships and supplies on Ceres and Mars - several factions are discovered in the Martian system that are fronts for royalist intelligence services.
The reclamation forces depart Pallas in conjunction with Jupiter after another years delay, the elements converge from several orbits and move to capture rebellious asteroids and royal dependents in the outer belt.
The Jupiter navy such as it is has held to orbitals close to Jupiter and the principal moons. It is known that the propulsion boost beams may be weaponizable and the Earth Mars fleet desires to engage in outer solar orbits instead of Jovian orbits. The delta-v budget and higher thrust of the Earth Fleet favor an engagement in Jupiter's gravity well, however the EM officers are wary of focused particle beams hidden in the orbital infrastructure of Jupiter's radiation belts.
The fleet has three elements, two 'dreadnaught detachments from earth and the martian ships of the line with escorts and a detachment of marines and supplies for establishing a foothold on Callisto once the Jupiter navy has been defeated. The 3 capital ships and their escorts represent the largest congregation of military ships since the Planetary Cold War. [needs fixing^]
The Jupiter fleet is entirely outclassed - the Greek and Trojan cruises from their late war are heavy destroyers by Earth standards. The technology of the outer belt and Jupiter system is outdated compared to the latest defense patents. Their battle-networking and antenna equipment is patchwork compared to the integrated hardware of the EM fleets.
From the Reclamation forces point of view the maneuvering of the Jupiter fleet is posturing - they expect that the Jupiter forces will surrender as soon as munitions have been launched and then attempt to sue for any damages - it is a tried and true military tactic in the era - several asteroids have eventually successfully tried the stunt - after the ruling party is arrested. Operation doctrine is shock and awe until the surrender and then to dismantle the comms network by kinetics from Callisto orbit as quickly as possible.
Initially the Jovian Squadrons ride out on light boost beams and settle into a solar orbit that will bring them into precisely the engagement that the EM fleet prefers. Closer to the Jovian Hill than desired but still in interplanetary space.
The EM fleet is eager to make this intercept and commits an agressive [excessive] amount of Dv to close rapidly and add additional decisive lethality to their preferred kinetic seekers bussed by advanced missiles. They are unconcerned with expenditure of propellent and thus Dv because of their extensive fleet support flotilla. They critically underestimate the Jovian's thrust capabilities. Projections are ignored in face of their political and economic assumptions. The fleet's tenured Admirals beligerently ignores the warnings of their shackled strategic Ai 'assistants'.
The uploaded Jovian commander had been correct in anticipating the EM fleet's motivations and planned action - through superior orbital planning and vector management they were able to bait the EM fleet into over -committing to their maneuver.
Releasing drop tanks and their primary payload of jammers and drones the Jovian fleet scatters, turns-over and burns Hard (2+G's) for the EM supply ships. The EM fleet scrambles to correct their orbital path and re-intercept the dispersend Jovian's; whose closing ditched Drop tanks are mined and lousy with boxed missile launchers and strobing jammers.
The Drone flight is split into two groups - the primary accelerates even harder to make a fast fly-by of the Supply ships ahead of the arrival of the Jovian squadrons. The latter accelerates to take advantage of the EM fleet's maneuvers to change vectors and chase the Jovian fleet.
Several EM escorts make extreme burns to intercept the Jovians, but they are not able to engage decisively. The Jovians hold a temporary advantage. The superior fire control and network integration is insufficient against the greater numbers of Jovian ships. Their flyby is fast and brutal with several ships disabled and destroyed on both sides.
Between the sudden maneuvering, the Martian ships are attacked with digital assets from the company's data vault. Breaches in the Fleets digital defenses are exploited by virally replicating infomorph 'borders' - these copies suicidally burn out the EM's fleets integration.
With the EM fleet's own inertia, the mines, and the drones and digital attacks, they are delayed at the tactically critical moment. Even with salvos of advanced missiles they will be too late. Period. The Jovian fleet -Will- intercept the supply ships. The math is undeniable. The senior Earth Admiral is prevented from drawing his side-arm by his subordinates and relieved of duty.
Mic drop -Chung, Burns and Newton are the baddest motherfucker in space.
The EM missile salvo is moderately punishing but the Jovians utilize a novel low tech mining mass driver to launch tiny nukes as point defense and disable a significant portion of the missile salvo. They close with and are able to consolidate the supply ships quickly, demanding surrender.
The EM fleet is nearing the limit of their operational Dv and will essentially be empty when they intercept the supply fleet - as long as they do not defensively maneuver much. The supply ships are not capable of high thrust but could extend the intercept window into a protracted stern chase. With the fleet's munitions available to the Jovians it is an unattractive campaign to say the least.
The situation is dire and after the overconfidence of the admiralty in the early engagement, the EM capital ship's officers and crew are demoralized.
In the next few hours hundreds of ships across the Jovian volume announce their intention to relieve the Jovian fleet - a fact that does not go unnoticed by the EM fleet - /potentially a titanic ruse meant to confuse the EM forces into believing there were hundreds of additional adversaries - Considering their loss of propellent reserves and fresh munitions, the Martian senior Admiral reluctantly and sarcastically surrenders.
The entire expedition is captured and returned to Europa orbit.
The EMV sociopolitical system has a seizure - the Defeat is unbelievable and desperation begins to set into the various national and megacorp executives. Market reactions reverberate through the Inner System as the rigged markets collapse and trade with Jupiter becomes suddenly attractive and resources begin more often to be sent outwards. Price fluctuations skyrocket as reserves of metals and ices are rapidly dumped and hoarded. While some individuals and firms profit from the uncertainty the rampant speculation is damaging to the already shocked capital investment markets. The Previous Planetary Cold war was tremendously profitable and many Inner System Conglomerates begin to make plans to resume their Cold War profiteering.
