I meant more the actual category - I'm not sure if there's an accepted way to label omake so I was stuck between Media and Apocrypha. I am a true newbie.

Edit 1: Also, I don't think Seems Fascinating... conflicts with anything in Canon so wouldn't it be better if it was placed in the Sidestory threadmarks?
Edit 2: If it does, can you please tell me what it conflicts with? I'll fix it if I know.
Hair and makeup is a whirlwind – Hannah knew, from the instructional email she received a week ago, that the production would provide her with an outfit and styling to their specifications for the first episode, but when she sees herself in the mirror afterwards, she realizes just how silly she looks in the show uniform.
Still, it's not like she'll be the only one in this slate gray blazer with eye-popping purple bow-tie. The purple-and-blue plaid pleated knee-length skirt would be cute if it wasn't for this school-looking coat. Isn't everyone on this show over 18? Do they want this to seem like a college course? Ah well. At least Hannah's hair is on point, she thinks, playing with the bouncy waves.
Her stylist lets her know that she's always welcome to pop back in during any task, and Hannah thanks them, filing that away in her brain. Her stylist is a short woman with a bob named Kimberly, and she appears to be in her forties with a motherly disposition. Hannah unfortunately doesn't have time to talk to her longer, as a Production Assistant shunts her quickly onto a soundstage.
There are already thirty-something done-up, uniformed people milling around on the stage, doing their own things. Some people are clumping together and talking, introducing themselves. A particularly gregarious girl with a tight, high dark braid is jumping between groups and shaking hands like a veteran glad-hander. Not everyone is like her for sure.
She seems friendly!
In the back right corner, someone with red hair is tuning a guitar, wearing plaid pants instead of a skirt. They appear to be chafing against the stiff material of their coat, their mouth almost making an inverted v as they roll up their sleeves as best they can. They seem to not want to be bothered.
They're super focused.
Hannah's eyes trail away from them. Many people are doing similar things, practicing choreography or singing under their breath, with earbuds pushed into their ears and facing away from those socializing. There's the occasional person thumbing mindlessly through their phone, but pretty much everyone seems to be on one of two missions – perfect their presentation, or network.
The preliminary round of the show and the first episode, as outlined by the producers to Hannah, involves all the participants re-performing their audition pieces for the three show judges. She doesn't know who they are, but assumes they will be big-deal people who will have constructive criticism for each person who performs. There could be benefit in running through her song again… but she also knows that she's going to be living in a hotel with all these people for a few months. Making some friends to make the pseudo-dorm-style living bearable couldn't hurt, either.
Hannah bites her lip. There's going to be a fair amount of time until things start – cameramen are setting up their equipment and setting their marks, PAs running around, lights being turned on and off to test levels. What should she do while she waits for filming?
Decisions...
(CHOOSE ONE, MAJORITY VOTE WINS)
[] Call her mom --> Why not? Hannah's mom always has great advice and is her biggest supporter (and probably won't be at work, unlike Dad, her other biggest supporter). She doesn't want to get too in her head about her audition and get so paranoid she messes up at the big stage, and there's plenty of time to make friends.
[] Practice her audition again --> Practice makes perfect, and this is Hannah's biggest stage so far. A little more preparation could go a long way!
[] Go mingle with other competitors --> This isn't a competition to be a solo singer; it's to be part of a group. If Hannah comes off like she's "not here to make friends", that could affect how she is seen farther down the road in the competition.
[] Play on your phone by yourself -->This whole thing is stressful. Time to decompress while she still can.

Excuse me @Shadowfleur. Even if an update has voting in it. It would be better if it was placed in threadmarks for the site's reader mode. Voting is for thing such as stating that vote's open or vote's closed.

Threadmarks are intended to go on important posts in a thread. They come in multiple categories, and it's partially up to the OP as to how they end up used. Most of this is merely guidelines and is admittedly tainted by my own personal interpretation.
Threadmarks - The default that should be used for Story posts. The thread's normal "Reader Mode" links use this category.
Sidestory - Content that isn't part of the main storyline but may still be canon.
Apocrypha - Non-canon content.
Media - Images, video, and audio relating to the thread. Official or Fanart.
Informational - Non-story posts that provide secondary information, such as Q&A or index posts.
Staff Post - Only usable/editable by Staff.
Any post can be threadmarked, regardless of who posted it. But to make your thread you will need an initial threadmark.
Eh, I'll vote for both of these. Sorry for the double-post!

Hi everyone - it has been a LONG time since I updated this quest, due to my 2024 getting insanely chaotic and having a lot in my personal life. I've sorted quite a few things out there and would love to bring this back and see it through, with weekly updates and more idol goodness!
Tonight, I will post based on the voting results from last year to kick us back off, and will edit earlier posts to ensure working images. See you soon!!
The winning option was *drumroll*

Tomorrow night, join our protagonist Hannah as she attempts to make some new friends!
After a moment of thought, Hannah recalls everything she knows about reality shows. Everything that happens on America's Sweethearts is being filmed. Hannah doesn't see any cameras here, but she decides she's going to act like there is - she has to get used to that.
Everything being filmed on a show meant to build a girl group, not find the best soloist, also means that being a lone wolf won't benefit her in the long run. Tucking away to call her mom or practice right now wouldn't be the biggest deal, true. About half the people here are doing just that, after all. But if she gets comfortable doing everything by herself as the competition goes on...
✨ Skill Unlocked! ✨
Perception - +1
Luckily, the girl with the braid has made herself very approachable. She looks younger than you, but is almost your height, with a strong build and an even stronger gaze. She is smiling and laughing as she talks to people, yes, but her eyes are resolute. Her stare could probably cut steel. Hannah is pretty sure that this girl also sees how the game is being played, and isn't going to miss opportunities to make inroads with others.
Hannah approaches her after she finishes talking to a tall blonde girl reading sheet music, and the girl with the braid is more than happy to talk!
Her name is Olivia Hollis, but goes by Liv. To Hannah's shock, she is only two years younger than her, at 21, and is aiming to be America's Sweetheart's pre-eminent rap talent. When Hannah tells Liv how she traveled to LA from Manila to perfect her singing, Liv's sharp eyes light up.
"Wow, that's incredible! You're so driven. I'm not used to meeting people like me... I'm sure everyone here is ambitious, if they got this far, but pretty much everybody I've talked to is keeping their cards close to their chest."
Liv opens up about her own dream to Hannah, to be a top female rapper like the woman who inspired her, LE of EXID. She's been working since she was 14 to perfect her craft - she taught herself how to make her own beats, a painstaking process she says took years. She went out on auditions for reality shows behind her parents' backs. She even auditioned for a Korean agency, but was one of many unselected.
While Liv's experiences are different from Hannah's, Hannah feels they have similar energy. They both have huge dreams they want to make reality, and haven't let rejection after rejection dissuade them.
"I can't wait to hear your rap," Hannah tells Liv.
"And I can't wait to hear you sing," Liv says back. "Maybe you can help me out with that a bit? I can teach you some flows, make you better than your average idol."
Liv makes a cheeky face, and Hannah can't help but grin. She may have reached out for somewhat mercenary reasons, but Hannah can imagine her and Liv pushing each other to do better. What's better than friendly competition?
"Wanna say hi to the guitarist?" Liv asks Hannah, pointing to the redhead. They've wrapped up tuning their guitar, and have now opened a gentle conversation with a nearby dark-haired girl with the best eye makeup Hannah's ever seen. Before Hannah can answer, though, the production assistant and show director comes into the room and asks all the girls to follow him onto the stage. Hannah thinks Liv is going to split off from her, but she doesn't, instead walking by her side as they follow the crowd down a dark hallway.
When the hallway opens up and Hannah turns the corner, she can't help but gasp.
The seating area is MASSIVE, with fifty chairs placed behind small clear desks on a pyramid and surrounded by huge glass pillars. The lighting is beyond anything Hannah has ever seen in person - pinks and purples and blues reflecting off of the plexiglass floor, the LED screen-paneled walls, all the auditionees' faces. Hannah notices that it makes some of the girls around her nervous, all this light and pageantry, but this only fires Hannah up more. This is a real, big deal, big budget show! And she's going to be on it!
The director tells all the girls that their seats are assigned, and sure enough, Hannah notices that little portraits of each girl are placed on the pink triangle backs of each chair. The girls mill around somewhat aimlessly trying to find their seats, cliques splitting apart, Liv bidding farewell to Hannah, confident girls striding up to the top of the pyramid to find they aren't there, and production assistants offering as much help as possible to their beleaguered charges. Hannah finds herself in a seat almost dead near the middle of the pyramid - two seats to the left on the middle row.
On Hannah's desk is a small pink notepad with America's Sweethearts branding, a purple pen, and a charging station. Hannah kind of hopes the pen writes in a glittery tone, but when she tests it, plain blue ink comes out.
When everyone is seated, the director garners the competitors' attention and tells them what will happen next. The judges will come out as soon as camera placement is completed, and after that, they will be asking each person individually to come on stage and perform their audition piece. A notebook and pen have been provided for those who want to take notes; a charging bank is also provided for those who were using their phones to practice beforehand - but everyone BETTER turn off their ringers.
"I'm excited to kick things off! Are you all excited?!"
All the competitors give a big "WOOO!", and the director says they have great energy. Give him fifteen minutes to finish up the camera setups, and then he'll ready everyone for filming.
Hannah looks around as the competitors start to relax in their chairs and look around more fully. Liv is seated at the bottom of the pyramid, and is already chatting to her seatmate, an older woman with large hoop earrings and glossy black hair. The guitarist is on the opposite end of Hannah's row, flipping their pen around between their fingers haphazardly. The model-looking blonde Liv was talking to earlier is near the top of the pyramid, looking extremely proud as she surveys everyone below her.
Queen of the pyramid?
Other faces stick out to Hannah - there's a girl who can't be older than 18 right in front of her, while directly to her right is a woman with a strong Stevie Nicks vibe who has taken her purple bowtie and woven it through her hair.
She has quite an ethereal presence.
Hannah knows she has to make a choice here - how is she going to take in everyone's audition? Talking to the people around her once filming starts will be a no-go. What should she do?
It's decision time again!

[] Take notes on the competition --> the producers clearly want you to do this, and it's not a bad idea. Notes to refer back to will help you keep names straight, and remember your competitors' skills.
[] Observe the auditions --> you worry that taking notes will make you miss something during the auditions. You'll remember the names and faces well enough, you're sure.
[] Focus on your own audition --> don't get distracted! You need to impress the judges. You'll have plenty of time to figure out everyone else's skills.
You have until Wednesday 1/29 to vote! <3 Welcome back Sweethearts!
