Alternate History Flag Thread

Okay, it's been a while since I've posted any flags... let's rectify that:

These first few flags here were ones I already made a while ago, but just never got around to posting them here until now:

This flag here is one made for a union between the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which should be evident given the blending of both countries' flags into this one design. Truthfully, like a lot of my posted flags in this thread, this is not an original of mine, but rather my recreation of a design I found on r/vexillology.

On a similar note, this is my recreation of a real proposal for a flag of a potential united Cypriot nation. A bit threadbare in my opinion, but nevertheless it's a decent design.

Again, this here is another recreation of a real-life flag, specifically that of the East African Community, an intergovernmental organization between the African Great Lakes countries of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and recently South Sudan, with the hopeful goal of a full unification one day. The only difference between my version and the official flag is that mine doesn't have the organization's emblem on it.

Yet another recreation of mine of another r/vexillology finding, this one being another Caribbean Union interpretation. The setting sun imagery is actually quite novel, almost having this sort of sublime beauty aspect to it.

I'll continue with more flags in my next post, as I want to post them together based on theme...

Here's the next batch of flags, and as usual the majority of them are Commie-themed ones!

But, surprise surprise, these first two aren't based on any particular country flag: nope, just PURE IDEOLOGY here! The top one is just a dramatically stylized depiction of the Hammer and Sickle (which, let me tell you, was enormously difficult to craft!), and the latter is just the Anarchist Logo on top of the AnCom Red/Black flag. Simple, but effective.

This next one is just something I did on a lark, a custom redesign of the flag for Communist Bhutan in Hearts of Iron 4. The in-game one is fine, I just wasn't able to recreate it from memory, so I just went on a different track and made my own version.

The last Communist-themed flag for this post is simply a recreation of the HoI4 Polish People's Republic Flag! It's actually quite a nice flag, simple but effective. Though the reason why I made this one is so I can create its darker companion as well...

Behold, the Falangist Poland flag! The emblem in the center is based on the actual logo of the real-life Polish fascist party ONR-Falanga, which was active in the latter half of the 1930's. As to why I made this flag, it's simply because of HoI4 again: the in-game flag is kinda meh to me, and doesn't strike me particularly Polish or fascist to me, so I tried making a new one that felt better-fitting. Unsurprisingly, this design is rather common to see in various flag mods on the Steam Workshop.

Speaking of Fascism, the next few designs are a little on the controversial side, given their... ahem... source material... so fair warning so I don't get set on fire for posting them. *puts on flame-retardant EOD suit and dives into a bunker*

Sooo... first things first: please put away your torches and pitchforks for the following flag designs, for while being of the Fascist persuasion, they are no indication that this post or its author advocate anything that those flags symbolize. Though that should not be necessary for those who have known me here long enough... but still, disclaimers for pseudo-legal purposes! Thank you and... er, maybe not enjoy... um... just view the following flags as you so desire:

This first one is just a preliminary run-up for the more flame-baity flags up next, so... anyways, this here is a design for a "Neo" Iron Guard organization, where the Romanian crazy-train never truly died out, only fell into a coma for seventy-plus years, before waking up and deciding to give this "Darker and Edgier" look a try.

A side-note regarding the design: it's simply the default Trident overlay copied four times and rotated at 90-degree angles and overlapping each other; surprisingly effective in the end result, actually. Hell, if you squint a little, it kinda looks like the WH40k "Chaos Undivided" emblem... which honestly, is kinda fitting for the Romanian Iron Guard. Bunch of meathook-obsessed lunatics...

Now for the controversial stuff:

What we have here are flags for the infamous Nazi paramilitary groups, the Waffen-SS and the so-called "Werwolf" resistance fighters.

The Waffen-SS should need no introduction, their being notorious for their wartime atrocities and crimes against humanity. The flag here is just their signature "twin lightning-bolt" Sig runes, with the white mid-ground shape being my personal touch for more flavor.

The term "Werwolf" refers to a supposed Nazi resistance force against the Allied occupation, but in reality surmounted to little more than a propaganda tool and never really surfaced in the aftermath of the Third Reich's defeat in 1945. Their supposed symbol would been the Wolfsangel rune, which you can see a stylized interpretation here, personally designed by me.

Now with that out of the way, lets move on to something less overtly inflammatory inflammable... like, I don't know, the GLA?

*GLA Anthem intensifies*

What's that? The GLA!? The infamous Middle-Eastern terrorist organization from C&C Generals that everybody knows and loves (to hate)!?

Why yes, this last post for tonight has flags for the Global Liberation Army!

From top to bottom, we have the GLA 'national' flag, the GLA bio-terrorist cell's flag, and the GLA warlord flag.

The top flag is my attempt at matching the official GLA logo as best as possible with what I have to work with in Flag Maker, and it actually turned out pretty nicely, all things considered; the unique aspect of this flag is the inclusion of the "Shahada", the Islamic declaration of faith that is seen on the Saudi Arabian flag.

The middle flag is a GLA-flavored remix of the international Biohazard symbol, and can be imagined as the flag of either Dr. Thrax from Generals: Zero Hour, or his spiritual successor Tahar Ibrahiim from the Rise of the Reds mod. The text in this flag is a stylized version of the notorious phrase "Allah Akbar" written in the kufic script, which can be seen on the Iranian flag.

The bottom flag is a mashup of the emblems for the Rise of the Red GLA generals, Warlord Anwar Sulaymaan and Terror Cell leader Abdul bin Yusuuf. The text here is again the phrase "Allah Ackbar", this time written in the Arabic script - incidentally, the expression itself is called the Takbir, which itself can be seen on the current Iraqi flag.

And that's all the flags I had piled up in my backlog! See you whenever for the next installment!

Okay... so, um... remember my old Indochinese Union flag? Turns out, I got it almost completely wrong in comparison to the actual flag in Kaiserreich that I was trying to copy: you can see the in-game one here in this screenshot, in the top-left corner. So, with much embarrassment and humility, I present to you my new version of the Indochinese flag:

The exact ratios may not match the actual in-game flag ones, but eh, I'm just gonna stick with my 2:3 ratio standard I've been using for most of the flags I've posted so far.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Denizens of SV, may I proudly present to you, my personal emblem!

Ahh... beautiful, is it not? Try to guess the meaning behind it!;)

EDIT: Made some new adjustments and added in a new, proper flag!

Am I the only one posting in this thread these days...? Well, anyways, got some more flags today, this time all for the Soviet Union and its constituent member states! Note: while the official USSR flag is constructed in a 1:2 ratio, all of these flags here are in a 3:5 ratio for reasons that should be self-evident given the design of these flags. EDIT: Now completely revamped to a standard 2:3 ratio!

Anyways, onto the flags!:

Starting off with the most obvious and simplest flag, here is the Soviet Union flag in a 3:5 2:3 ratio format. From this, all of the following flags will be based off of this basic foundation.

The next flag here is, of course, the flag for the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, or Russian SFSR for short... But wait! What's this? This isn't the historical flag: oh no, this is an alternate-history flag that integrates the modern Russian Federation flag into the design! Yes, all these Soviet flags will combine both their modern national flags with the Soviet flag, as if either the Soviet Union rebuilt itself in the modern day, or if the Soviet Union managed to institute reforms to allow it to survive to the modern day.

This next flag here is for a united Baltic SFSR, where Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia all merged together to form a larger unitary state like the Russian SFSR. The colors here are from this random deviantART flag for a separate Baltic Federation, as I couldn't find any historical unions between the Baltic States or an associated flag for it, and this was the closest I could find, so eh, good enough.

This one is for a Transcaucasian SFSR, which briefly existed between 1922 to 1936 before being split up into its constituent states of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, and the flag colors here are from the Transcaucasian Democratic Federative Republic that preceded the SFSR back in 1918.

This here is the one for Belarus, using the white-red-white variant of the Belorussian flag that was used for the original Belarusian People's Republic back in 1918-1919, and again for the Republic of Belarus from 1991 to 1995 before they switched back to the Soviet-era design sans the Hammer & Sickle.

This next one is for the Ukraine, using both the modern Ukrainian flag and coat of arms, this pattern continuing for the rest of the flags here.

This flag for the Kazakh SSR uses the colors and symbolism found in the modern Kazakhstan flag, such as the golden sun-and-eagle, and the ornate pattern seen here along the bottom (not sure if I should keep the pattern, though, since it looks kinda gaudy and distracting from the white-and-blue bars it defaces; if you guys don't like it, I'll remove and replace it).

The one country here with the most difficult name to spell, Kyrgyzstan's flag already has plenty of red, so for the bottom ribbons I just used the colors found on their old Soviet-era flag. The golden sun is retained, however.

The Tajikstan flag was kinda awkward to incorporate, given the darker-red bar in their tricolor clashes with the lighter red I've used here for the Soviet flag, and the Tajik crown also kinda clashes with the Soviet iconography (for obvious reasons), but I think I fixed the former problem well enough with a gold dividing line, and the Tajik crown doesn't necessarily have to mean royalty (the crown represents the Tajik people themselves, as the name Tajik comes from the Persian word tāj, which translates into "crown").

The Uzbekistan flag here moves its stars-and-crescent from its blue stripe to the right-of-center position here, and the 12 stars on the Uzbek flag have been mashed together into a 12-point star to save space.

The Turkmenistan flag was rather tricky to integrate here, as I had to omit the carpet pattern on their modern flag for simplicity's sake, and I had to combine the green of the modern flag with the blue stripes from their Soviet-era flag in order to keep the entire design consistent with its sibling flags, not to mention the precision needed to align the stars with the crescent properly to match the modern flag. I think it turned out alright, aside from the clashing green-and-blue stripes, though that may be just the specific hues used here.

The last flag here is not one for any SFSR or SSR, but rather for Kaliningrad Oblast, the tiny little exclave that sits outside of Russia proper, between modern-day Lithuania and Poland. Obviously that wouldn't be a problem for a modern resurrected USSR, but given how a Baltic SFSR would still separate the Oblast from the rest of Russia, I think it should be appropriate to treat it as its own separate little entity (plus I have a hate-on for exclaves/enclaves, if anybody's ever seen my alt-history HoI4 map over in the Alternate History Maps Thread). The symbolism is similar to the official Kaliningrad Oblast flag itself, but slightly altered: the silver fortress is of a different design (being a Flag Maker default overlay), and the red star and anchor are references to the fact that Kaliningrad is USSR/Russia's only warm-water port in the Baltic Sea, and by extension a major port for the Soviet/Russian Red Navy.

So that's all of them for today! Hope you enjoyed this installment of flags!

Time for more flags, with quite a bit of variety today, so let's get started!

This here is a popular - if inaccurate - depiction of the Soviet flag, with the Hammer & Sickle, Red Star, and laurel leaves charging the center of a red field. This design was never actually used by the USSR in real life, but it shows up a lot in video-games, TV shows, films, and other media, so it's become a rather ingrained misconception in our modern popular culture.

EDIT: Now revamped to a standard 2:3 ratio!

Here is my recreation of yet another r/vexillology finding - surprise, surprise - for a Communist Macedonia; you can presume to be for either an independent Macedonia, or for a constituent state of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In a rare departure from most of my previous Communist-themed entries, this flag exchanges the standard muted-gold color in favor of a brighter, deeper yellow.

Here's a unique entry, in contrast to many of the flags posted here so far, being a flag not for a country, but for a city: more specifically, the City of Gdańsk, or as it's known by the more historically-inclined readers (or just players of Hearts of Iron 4), the City of Danzig. The flag here is more of a rough approximation, as the actual designs are bit more complex and detailed: the modern Gdańsk flag, and the historical Danzig flag for comparison, which you will not that both are remarkably similar in overall design. The city has a rather... interesting interwar history, having been basically governed by the local Nazi party in the late 1930's despite being nominally under Polish sovereignty and League of Nations international mandate. After the war, the city's entire native German population was purged by the vengeful Soviets, and the city itself fully annexed into the again-'independent' Poland. Nowadays it's fully-recognized as a part of Poland, and Germany has pretty much stopped caring about reclaiming it (outside a tiny minority of nationalist loonies).

Speaking of Germany, here's the flag of the German Empire - or, as it's more famously known, the Kaiserreich! *Die Wacht am Rhein loudly blaring on speakers*

Well, technically, this is just my moderately-inaccurate recreation of the Reichskriegsflagge (Imperial War Flag) that's used in-game for the HoI4 Kaiserreich mod (it's not even the true national flag for the German Empire, which is just a plain black-white-red horizontal tricolor, which you can see in the canton here with an Iron Cross defacing it). The inaccuracy's partly because of me recreating it from memory and not from a first-hand reference, and partly because of the limited resources of the Flag Maker program. Still, it turned out pretty nicely, and the ascetic simplicity makes it more visually-appealing compared to the more excessively-detailed and complex German Eagle seen on the real flag.

Speaking of Kaiserreich-style alternate-history, why not bring up the dieselpunk-fantasy counterpart from the anime Saga of Tanya the Evil? Well, maybe not the Magi!Germany-expy from the show itself, but rather its Magi!American-expy opponent, the Unified States. I have to say, it's not that half-bad of a flag; aside from a few adjustments, it works very well as an alternate USA flag.

EDIT: Now revamped to a standard 2:3 ratio!

The last national flag here one for Fascist Italy... albeit an alternate design, as I couldn't fit the cross into the red inner-shield like in the actual flag emblem. Instead, I opted for a simple white circle with a fasces, and added in a brown eagle atop the shield. I think it works out well, as the fasces makes it more clearly to be a Fascist Italy (as the IRL flag was just reusing the monarchy flag), and the eagle was a popular symbol of the Fascists as well, as it hearkened back to the old Roman Empire they so desperately trying to emulate (and it conveniently also connects to the war flag of the Italian Social Republic, the German-propped tatters of a puppet-state under Mussolini, by then a shadow of his former self... assuming he was ever something to begin with).

To continue with the discussion of Fascist Italy, here's a more ideologically-themed flag that I call "the Triple Fasces", based on some logo I've seen someplace else but for the life of me cannot recall where. Anyways, it's a simple black field with a brown circle enclosing a dull-white field containing three brown fasces within it. Brown is not a color commonly found on flags that often, given that it doesn't really blend well with most-other colors that are more commonly used on flags; because of that, despite Brown being a color heavily associated with Fascism, it doesn't get much play that often, especially given its infamous ideological cousin, Nazism, uses the much more visually-striking Red and Black.

The last flag here is for one of the more... unique variations of Fascism, the South American offshoot ideology known as Brazilian Integralism. What you see here is my recreation of party flag of the Brazilian Integralist Action movement (Ação Integralista Brasileira, or AIB in Portuguese). In a rather striking departure from their European counterparts, the Integralists favor the color Blue over the more common Fascist primary colors of Brown or Red.

The Integralists were a rather... weird bunch, as they weren't explicitly racist like the Nazis or conventionally nationalist like the Italian Fascists: rather, their focus was on a form of 'clerical fascism' in which religion played a central part in the cultural identity of the nation (in Brazil's case, said religion is Catholicism). As such, the Integralists favored nationalism as a shared spiritual identity in which to integrate (hence the name) the common individual into the broader nation-state.

And before anybody makes snide jokes about the Sigma being the mathematical operator for summation rather than integration: that is exactly what it's supposed to represent here - the summation of all peoples into one nation. Don't ask me why, go ask an actual Integralist if you can ever find one.

So that's it for today's selection of flags. See you next time!

A half joke, half actual prediction on the future of American politics based on the current political aligning.

Nothing particularly new this time - just a couple updates on two previous flags I made:

The first one here is just a slight revision to my old Gran Colombian Socialist Republic flag; not much of a startling difference, aside from an additional rotated-star layered underneath the original one.

The second one here is a complete revamp & redesign of my old Central American Socialist Republic flag, which I was never really satisfied with; this new version looks a lot better than the previous one.

Oh hey, I managed to come up with something new! I present to you, the Cybernetic Republic of Chile:

This flag would be for an alternate-history timeline where the Allende government in Chile was not overthrown, thus allowing for Project Cybersyn to continue on, and later succeed in revolutionizing the country into a modern social-democratic/democratic-socialist state. Unlike most other Communist states, this form of socialism is not based on Marxist-Leninist principles, but instead based on the principles of technocracy, meritocracy, and scientocracy. As a result, the Cybernetic Republic of Chile can maintain good relations with both the capitalist-bloc nations such as the United States or the Plurinational Republic of Bolivia, and the communist-bloc nations such as the Soviet Union or the Gran Colombian Socialist Republic.

Flag of Korea if it were a British colony.

Oh hey, another South American flag to show off here! This time, it's a redesign for Bolivia:

The real Bolivian flag has a coat-of-arms that was just too complex to replicate entirely with the limited resources of Flag Maker, so I instead opted to make an entirely new coat-of-arms design, which I think turned out pretty nicely, actually.

And as a small bonus, here's a Piratini Republic flag:

The Piratini Republic - also known as the Riograndese Republic - was a short-lived breakaway state from the Empire of Brazil, existing from 1836 to 1845... annnndddd... that's about it. Nothing else particularly interesting enough to mention.

Why is it that nothing really happens in South America?

Oh look, I've done some more experimentation with coats-of-arms! Here's a new Hispaniola flag, far superior to my original attempt:

I wanted to use a palm tree, but the trunk didn't line up with the star, so I had to use a different tree overlay. I also wanted to throw in a cross somewhere to further mix together the symbolism from the Dominican Republic flag with the Haitian flag, but couldn't figure out a good place to put it, so I just threw in a fleur-de-lis as a tie-in to Haiti's colonial French history (I couldn't come up with an appropriate counterpart for the Dominican Republic's colonial Spanish history though, sadly).

The next two flags are two different paths for a federalized and democratized Austria-Hungary, both of which are based on designs I found on r/vexillology:

In a surprising twist, I actually have the links to the original creations: the top one can be found here, while the bottom one can be found here.

The top one is basically a carbon-copy of the flag I found on r/vexillology: a traditional Austrian triband, with a circle of 15 stars standing for each member state, and one big 10 pointed star in the middle representing the ethnic groups within Greater Austria.

The bottom one is only slightly altered from the original design, using the Albanian double-headed eagle as the closest approximation to the Hapsburg eagle (like me, the creator used Flag Maker to create this, but opted for the German eagle you can see in my original Danubian Federation flag attempt), while I reduced the number of stars from the original's 20 down to 10 (the creator wanted 20 stars, so he lumped in several other countries not originally part of Austria-Hungary :V).

The last two flags are both alternate British flags, one being a redux on a Mosleyite Fascist Britain, and the other being a custom Communist Union of Britain:

Yes, yes, I know, the saltires are screwed up and don't match the real-life UK flag, I don't care. I wanted to stick to my 2:3 ratio but the saltires wouldn't cooperate, so I had to improvise. I don't understand why the British even have their flag set up that way, it's just freaking annoying with how asymmetrical it is (and yes, I know it works rotationally, but not vertically/horizontally. It's just an OCD pet-peeve of mine...).

EDIT: Now revamped and standardized for all British-inspired flags!

Anyways, that's all the flags I have for today, until next time!

Does anyone have a good alt-history flag for the Bavarian SSR if they succeeded in their revolution in 1919? Irl they only had the red flag, so they probably would of changed it if they won. Any versions I see are either kind of lame or just like a red version of the Bavarian Flag, which they wouldn't use if they had one the revolution over all over Germany.

The East German flag doesn't do either, as they literally were against a force who were fighting under the gold-black-and red.

Got a few new flags today, all African ones:

The first flag is for an alternative design for the East African Community/Federation (which you can my previous design at the top of the page here); it's based on another r/vexillology finding of mine, which you can see here. It's a rather radical departure from the original EAF flag, but still recognizable as derived from it.

The next two flags are for Liberia - or rather, Greater Liberia, which you can see here in my alt-history map!

The first one is again inspired by an r/vexillology finding, which you can see here; aside from slightly-different shades of color and tilting the tricolor diagonally, the symbolism is virtually the same as in the link description: its design is based on its location in Africa. South is the coast (blue), green is the forests the country is located in, and north from the green forest area is the deserts (yellow). The star represents the country's independence.

I made the diagonal tilting of the tricolors to more accurately reflect the shape & location of the country on the coast of West Africa.

The second one is a communist variant, which is simply the first flag with the white star replaced with a gold-outlined red star with a Hammer & Sickle. Yes, not very creative, I know, but it's not like the RL Liberian flag(s) are not much better, you know? (Seriously, just look the Liberian county flags, they're horrendous. Thankfully, somebody made some vastly superior redesigns for them, which you can see here in comparison to the godawful originals.)

By the way, regarding that alt-history map I mentioned above... truth be told, a lot of the flags I've made here in this thread were inspired by that map; most of the countries in the map would just have their RL/OTL flags (like France, USA, UK, Germany, Italy, USSR, India, Canada, etc.), but the rest were either entirely custom-made for new countries or redesigns for RL/OTL countries that just have ugly flags. You can tell pretty easily which countries on that map should already have corresponding flags from all of my posts so far...

However, there's a handful of them that don't have any flags yet, mainly because I don't know what to create for them. So! Why not just ask you guys to come up with some designs? A flag-design challenge, you could say! Just make one up and post it here to share, and perhaps have a vote to see which one's the best design!

The only rule I would set for this is that it would/should be easy to make on Flag Maker 2.0, as that was what I had to work with for all the flags I've made here... but that's more of a general guideline, which you can ignore and just go create whatever you wish.;)

The specific countries I need flags for are as follows:
- The sky-blue hammer-shaped country that neighbors Greater Liberia (whose flag has been shown just now in this post).
- The brown country that sits in the middle of Saharan Africa, i.e. west of Sudan, north of Nigeria & the Congo, south of Libya & Algeria, and east of the sky-blue country mentioned above.
- The Afghanistan/Pakistan fusion country that sits between Iran, India, and the Soviet Union.
- And lastly the light-blue country that sits between Argentina and the Piratini Republic, in the region known as La Región Mesopotámica.

- As an optional bonus, a new flag for Rhodesia; the original Rhodesian flag is fine in itself, but I also really want to see a redesign based on this crazy alt-history idea of mine where Rhodesia is ruled by an unholy fusion of Objectivists, Nazi diehards, and Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging exiles. As such, the Rhodesian flag redesign should include symbolism from all three groups (like Objectivism's Atlas, or the AWB's triskelion), but also retain original Rhodesian symbolism (like the basic green-white-green vertical triband, and the shield with golden pick-axe). Knock yourself out with redesigning it however you want, though.

So that's it for today! I hope to see if anybody takes up my flag-design challenge!:)

I hope to see if anybody takes up my flag-design challenge!:)

...Really? Nobody wanted to try taking up my flag-design challenge? Pity... oh well, not like there would've been a flag for La Región Mesopotámica anyways... because I changed my alt-his map... again.:V

Anyways, I've spent the intervening time between now and my last post here to work on a lot of new flags, a huge number of them being complete redesigns of previous flags I created here. So let's get started - first with the reworks!

First is Christian Socialist Ireland, now with a much better emblem design than the previous one, being cleaner and more streamlined in comparison, as well as incorporating some of the new techniques I picked up on in my latest experimentations. These new techniques are prominent in basically all of the new redesigns I have in store here, actually.

The next three here are the Benelux Trio, Commie Edition 2.0! From top-to-bottom: the Cooperative of Belgium, the People's United Provinces (of the Netherlands), and Rosa Luxembourg (which might now be my favorite of the bunch here, as the star-rose pattern is a particularly elegant adaptation of an r/vexillology design I found for the Yorkshire Rose - which I made a copy of myself but never got around to posting here). The Rose-Star design I think might actually be good enough to serve as a primary logo for Luxemburgism, like the Fourth International logo does for Trotskyism. Now I just need to come up with a unique one for Stalinism...

You know my old attempt at a Tuareg Confederation flag? The one where I didn't realize there was already a real flag until after I made mine? Well, now I've corrected that deficiency of mine.

Here's my Malaysian flag again, much cleaner and without the stupid attempt with the swords and the 14-point-star radial-repeater thing. It just looked ugly and not very well thought-out. Now the Malaysian Crescent & Star are now in the (above-)center position, looking much better now than before... though now that I look at it, the radial-repeater stars here make it look like the European Union... eh, whatever.

Here's the good ol' Maximist flag for the Union of Britain of Kaiserreich fame again! I just simply redid it to match the proportions of my recent Fascist/Communist Britain flags (which you can see in my previous-to-last post), and I altered the underside-star to match the size of the overside-star for symmetry purposes - really like the way the side-facing points line up with the horizontal bars of the cross here!

EDIT: Now revamped and standardized for all British-inspired flags!

Just like the Maximist flag above, the Sorelians of the French Commune get a facelift for their flag as well - though it's much more radical: I've gone for a complete restructuring of the fasces motif, constructing a custom-made one myself rather of just using Flag Maker's default emblem, opting instead to creatively use its generic-shapes overlays to craft a single fasces, one which you'll notice uses a couple of fleur-de-lis's as its axe-blades. I kept the inverted fleur-de-lis from the previous iteration, though, as it's still pretty good symbolism, though now it's cleaned up quite a bit by being placed upon a shield and banner. You'll also note: no five-pointed Red Star of Socialism here! A radical departure from standard norms of Socialist flag motifs, but fitting for the Sorelians of Kaiserreich!

That does it for flags for now - posting this in the middle of the night when I should be in bed!:V

I'll continue with more tomorrow after I get some sleep. Toodaloo!

I'll continue with more tomorrow after I get some sleep. Toodaloo!

Okay, I lied... it's the next day over. Still, gotta keep the promise of more flags!

To start off where the Sorelian French Commune left off:

Now we have the standard Marxist-Leninist version for the French Commune!

The rest of this post will continue with the French theme - but this time, with FASCISM!

Here's the flags for a Fascist France under the control of the French Popular Party (the top one being the national flag with the bottom being the party one). The FPP was founded in 1936 by former members of the French Communist Party, adopting more nationalistic and antisemitic beliefs and becoming virulently anti-Marxist, regarding it as "a Jewish pseudo-socialism which was not working for real improvements to the situation of the French working-classes". When the Nazis invaded France in WW2 and installed their Vichy puppet government under Philippe Pétain, the FPP became the most overtly collaborationist party in occupied France and enthusiastically assisted the Gestapo in rounding up Jews to send to the concentration camps, and advocated forming a grand alliance between France, Germany, and Italy against the Soviet Union. When the Allies liberated France in 1944 after D-Day, the party's leader Jacques Doriot fled to Germany alongside the rest of the Vichy regime and competed with the remaining leadership for control over the government-in-exile until his death in February 1945, where he was killed in an Allied strafing run. The French Popular Party never recovered from the loss of its leader, and collapsed immediately upon the war's end in Europe.

(Note: the party flag here is a custom design, as the real historical one looked like this; not particularly attractive in comparison.)

The next two flags here are for another major collaborationist party, the National Popular Rally (like before, top one is national flag, bottom one is party flag). Like the FPP, the NPR has its roots in the French Section of the Worker's International, and was led by Marcel Déat (who, if you happen to be a Kaiserreich fan, will notice is also the leader of the Jacobin half of the Totalist faction in the French Commune). Unlike the FPP, however, the NPR is not an explicitly Fascist organization (though still heavily influenced by Fascism), but rather a Neo-Jacobin and Neo-Socialist one, and it saw the circumstances of the Nazi occupation as an opportunity to revolutionize France. Despite its own bickering with the more reactionary elements of the Vichy Regime, it still happily collaborated with the Nazis in regards to its antisemitic and racist policies. Like the FPP, the National Popular Rally was dissolved at the end of the war in 1945 (while Déat himself will die in exile in Turin, Italy ten years later in 1955, having fled to Germany after the liberation of France, and then fled to Italy when Germany fell itself later on).

Huh... funny thing about both these two French collaborationist parties... they both sprung out from the Socialist movement in France. Final proof that the French will betray the Revolution?

The last two Fascist France flags here are for the Mouvement Franciste (or Francist Movement), a French Fascist and Antisemitic organization founded by Marcel Bucard in 1933. The group got financing from Benito Mussolini himself, and participated in the Paris riots of the Feb 6 Crisis of 1934 alongside several other prominent far-right groups such as Action Française. It and every other participant of the Feb 6 crisis were later outlawed in 1936 by Léon Blum's Popular Front government, and later reformed into a proper political party (after a failed attempt to do so in 1938), Parti Franciste, in 1941 after the Nazis invaded. The Mouvement Franciste, alongside the French Popular Party and National Popular Rally, formed the main collaborationist bloc within Vichy France working with the Nazis. The Parti Franciste was dissolved immediately upon the Allied liberation of France in 1944, and like all the other collaborators mentioned here, were condemned as traitors to France.

(Note: the emblem here is my best modernization of the only Francist logo I could find, and as they did not seem to have any sort of party flag, I used the FPP's historical party flag design as the basis instead.)

So that's all of them for today! I still have a few more flags to clear out in the backlog, so I'll get to those later. Until then!

So here's the next batch of flags I want to present, this time all with a theme of Austria-Hungary!

The first two are a couple of Communist iterations, as I couldn't decide which one looked better overall:

The next one is a Fascist version, with the two below it being the Fascist flags of its constituent nations:

Lastly, as a bonus, I've finally figured out how to recreate the OTL Fascist Italy flag, so along with an updated version of my previous custom-designed one, I'll leave both of them here:

So that's all for now! Until next time!
