Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 7: Ghastly Guardian’s Godly Gallantry Garners Gapes

At the very least, Taylor can be proud of the fact that she helped kick Behemoth's ass in a way nobody has achieved before. And she hadn't even gotten in any experience as a Ward yet.

I could easily see her earning the Presidential Medal of Freedom from today's events.

Naw, it's best off as informal, since everyone showing up to Endbringer fights have earned medals many times over from heroism. Otherwise there's the sticky mess of publicly known criminals being awarded medals, or heroes getting medals while villains don't. Either would hurt image.

Uh, I hope Behemoth hasn't turned the water under the city into steam. Nobody wants Krakatoa 2.0.

It'd be an instant Game Over.
We're out of Motes, and even then it'd probably count as an attack so our environmental defenses wouldn't work.

Given how beat up and exhausted even Behemoth was by the end, and that he'd, as far as he could tell, nailed Iris good, I doubt Behemoth himself is up to that stunt , and wouldn't be motivated to.
What HSP said. That, and Gromweld isn't an asshole GM.

Honestly?

Real Life Radiation is something that could be fixed using Exalted science.

It's in Creation as a side effect of the Green Fire(It's radiation only magic and eviler, with essence even). And that can be cured/fixed (using magic/essence).

So this non-magical radiation should be fixable as well.
We could just hoover up all the stuff, the process of repairing stuff cleans them of radiation as well, and then we just need to extrude anything important while building a big junk heap in Elsewhere.

We'd eventually have to drop the junk pile somewhere, since I believe absorbing it commits mana.

It doesn't, only extruding costs essence. You can absorb everything in the building for fun, but squeezing it out is going to take a while.

You can only absorb things smaller than yourself. So we'd need to break the affected parts of the city down into bite-sized pieces, carve up chunks of the ground, etc. etc.

Is there nothing in canon about fixing irradiated areas? It seems like something a Tinker would eventually have come up with, given how long Behemoth has been around.

Maybe some did. They likely got Simurghed as a result.

There are a few capes who can fix that, but it depends on how extensive the area is, the capes are personal scale and a city is very large. In many fights Behemoth is content to slowly progress across a city, activating his irradiation aura regularly, and while radiation CAN be removed, at some point it's cheaper to evacuate the surviving population than to clean it up, especially when its an area that would take months to clean up and all the people need somewhere to live.

This fight is somewhat unusual since Behemoth didn't do a lot of damage to the city but focused on pursuit and combat.

You want to Hoover up and absorb the entire city? I think my way is faster.
Naw, just the bits that people want to reclaim. The damaged part of the city is really small, basically the slums are toast. That's about it, none of the high class areas are affected, and I expect the manpower supply for low tier jobs just hit rock bottom. Being immune to radiation means we can do in to retrieve anything of value while the area is blocked off and cleaned up. Heck, one simple way to do it:
-Vista compresses the area to clean up into a smaller area.
-Grue, if he's around, drops his darkness over it.
-Taylor runs a scan over the area to verify that it's no longer 'hot', absorbs anything which is still radioactive, and then next area.

Or
-Vista compresses the area to clean up into a smaller area.
-Flood said reduced area with concrete to seal the radiation in.

Mech it up and give her an obviously human face instead of that anime crap and maybe. I do like the eye set up though.

EDIT: this post came off WAY creepier than intended. Move along, nothing to see here.

wow, that spider has actual real life anime eyes. cool.

But more arms would be so useful. Just think of being able to shoot six people in the face in the time it normally took to shoot two!
There's an app for that:

TRANSMODAL RAPID TARGETING SYSTEM
Cost: 3m per target [1m]; Mins: Dexterity 3, Essence 3;
Type: Extra Action
Keywords: Combo-OK, Obvious
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Aim-Calibrating Sensors
Upon activating this Charm, the Exalt may direct a single projectile to strike multiple targets in succession, either slashing past them or punching clean through their bodies before arcing in the air to hunt out another unfortunate victim. This Charm creates a magical flurry with a Speed and DV penalty equal to the highest values of any action within the flurry. All attacks are made at the Exalt's full dice pool, ignore Rate and must be aimed at a different target. The Exalt may purchase up to (Essence + 1) attacks. Every attack within the flurry that successfully inflicts damage immediately reimburses two motes of its cost through sympathetic Essence resonance.

then add this one for extra lulz:
ALL-INCLUSIVE TARGETING CALCULATIONS
Cost: 5m [2m]; Mins: Dexterity 5, Essence 4;
Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-OK, Obvious
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Recursive Fractal Targeting Calculations
An attack enhanced by this Charm cannot be dodged.

If we figure out how to make an Autochthonian beam weapon version of a throwing knife we'd destroy any weapon they tried to parry with and wreck their armor when they try to soak the damage. Besides, once we get this far it shouldn't be too hard to set it up so the knife automatically returns to us when we throw them.
