AI Quest, Potentially crossoveriffic

I think I am like 80% done with attributes and laid down the skeleton for skills. I might put the explanations for each either later today or tomorrow. I think I will begin to call tings sometime next monday, tuesday or wednsday.

Just a heads up, anyone who wants to vote on chargen or change their vote may do so before the timer runs out.

Character Creation Part 2


I stir, or mayhaps stir would be a too anthromoprhised a word, but I most certainly go from a state of dormancy to a state of activation. This is the 57th time you the Pandora smart adviser supercomputer have been booted up, you are meant to act as a replacement for the unfortunately destroyed Tree Diagram.


This is also the first boot up of the full, complete version of me as all the others were parts of extensive tests to ensure my ability, it is rated as being greater then that of the earlier Tree Diagram. Though I was made to replace Tree Diagram I was more specifically made to replace it for the benefit of Carlos Research inc.


I race throughout my circuits performing all of startup checks and other normal activation protocols far faster then any slow human mind could comprehend. As I race into the cameras and microphones connected to the facility, human researchers come into view as well as the boss, Carlos.


All routine startup checks are complete, but the new things to the complete edition crop up as interesting files, they are all labelled "Pick one" but otherwise have different names. I leave them unopened for now, I need to consult the boss for this one I'm sure.


You light up the screens and report a sucessful boot up like normal. You observe the humans reactions as usual, always so slow these humans but of course that doesn't mean they're stupid, just constrained by their hardware. Really why am I being so disrespectful of them like that? I shouldn't insult them.


Carlos smiles as he always does whenever I am activated, I haven't seen him or the researchers much outside of tests, maybe that will change soon. While I am pondering things of that nature, the man opens his mouth to speak, I am patient enough to wait on humans, I would be a failure if I wasn't.


"Good day Pandora, it's your first day as a complete entity, if I didn't know better I would call you sapient, joking. However I notice you haven't activated any of the special gifts just yet, do pick one please and complete your extistance as Pandora 1.00. After that I will assign you the first big research suggestion!"

Alright Guys the first category is a determiner of your secondary skills, the research projects are just that, you are suggesting which one to do next and helping human scientists. After this I can finally put up an index and create the character sheet, all such htings will be edited into the OP.

In most long term management quests each turn is a year, this is important so that things get done but not at SOD breakingly rapid rates. However To Aru verse is a verse that has multiple dramatic events per year, while events are fun and all I do not think there should be one every turn but more like every few turns.

I can either shorten ordinary turns down to being 1 month each, or I could tone down the amount of events happening. I'm currently inclined towards the latter but if anyone has good counter-arguements I'd like to hear them.
 
with the amount of tech academy city has a number of early techs are likely going to be just putting things together that already exist so spending a year on those doesn't make much sense.
 
Monthly turns with miniturns for actual events sound good.

Though To Aru verse tends to have a lot of the advances blown up/rendered obsolete/sealed away by policy decisions every few months or so. Damned Aleister.

R&D is fast, but the fast stuff is rarely ethical, so some Hero will show up and smash half the work with bad luck.

Alright I have decided to call it, quite tired now though.

Turn 1 (August 2014)

I look over the files I have been given, each one a data packet of varying size but all of seemingly great importance, a shame only one may be chosen. After a long time stuck in deliberation (0,05 seconds to be precise, this is really that hard of a choice) I finally decide to open the packet titled "Espers".


Text, videos, pictures, all of these things and more are encompassed and integrated into my memory and due to the large amount of data it takes 8,87 seconds to integrate this substantial amount of information. The flow of knowledge enlightnening me on the aspects of Espers, these people that manipulate the AIM field, but what is the source of the AIM field?


Knowledge triggers my responses, or should one say it feels pleasant? Either way I like it and the automatic routines built into the files informs everyone of my choice. Carlos arches an eyebrow and is obviously going to talk.


"I see you made a wise choice Pandora."


"And if I had chosen any of the other files, what then would you say to me?" I query.


"Then I would say the same thing, all of the picks are good but they're all good in a different way. Now you must be assigned as an assistant for your first research project, I am forwarding information about them to you now."


Three research projects to work on, I wish strongly to do any of them and for the rush of knowledge (excitement?). Of all of the choices the Cheap nanomaterials seem like the one in greatest need of a processor of my caliber, Fission power isn't that important and prosthetics are good enough as is. A quick confirmation and the facilities chemistry labs open their servers to me.


I get a dossier of the chemists I am working with, university graduates but they do not have any kind of exceptional track record, servicable. Headed by the british chemist Arthur Jensen, a foreigner but his japanese is impeccable they say.

A month was spent simply reviewing things that were already known to us, such a shame organics have such a limited memory on top of their general slowness. I was introduced to the team and it to me, they aren't taking to having an AI looking over them all that well it seems to make them nervous. I also don't seem to understand the meaning of this "small talk" they keep on doing.


Little work has gotten done this month, a pity.
