A Whole New World, A Whole New Game! (gamefic/litrpg based)

Morning Walk, and Skills
"So, what are you plans for today...?"

You look up from the bowl of mayonnaise to see that your mother has paused, looking over at you. She isnt always around when you get up to eat, but when she is, she always makes sureto ask this. And when she's not, she always makes sure to check in at least once a day.

You wish she'd pay more attention and actually seem interested in how her daughter was developing, but for this, you give her credit. She is consistent.

Its not like there isnt a 'school' in your village, which you could go to for the day...but technically, you haven't been expected to go there for the last two years. Once kids turn 15, the adults stop pushing them to attend their classes and lectures. You're free to explore your interests, to follow people around, and explore new jobs. And, eventually, choose a mentor or three.

You havent chosen an official Mentor, but your days are are often taken up with advanced combat training given by the Big 5, or following up on some of their jobs, or playing your instrument. Once in a while, you even ask your mom to let you go out with the caravan as a Caravan Guardian. Then you can spend a week keeping an eye out for bands of monsters, and hunting small game.

For that, you've picked up a hunting skill.

What skill was it?

[ ] Sense Wind

[ ] Trap Scout

[ ] BasicArchery: Hunting Bow

[ ] Basic Archery: Crossbow

[ ]Basic Gunmanship: Rifle

[ ] Basic Gunmanship: Shotgun

[] Weapon Handling: Sling

[ ] Weapon Handling: Slingshot

You've also picked up a combat skill, what was it?

[ ] Adrenaline Boost

[ ] Flurry Combo

[ ] Shield Defense

[ ] Basic Swordsmanship: Short Sword

[ ] Basic Swordmanship: Long Sword

[ ] Weapon Handling: Staff

[ ] Weapon Handling: Bat

[ ] Weapon Handling: Blow Dart
But today was different.

Therefore, what she received was a shrug, "I think Im just going to relax today. See what everyone else is up to."

She looks surprised, but you know, not too surprised. Looking back at her task, she pulls a small container over to her and begins to transfer the mayonnaise out. "Thats always a good choice. We're still early in the game after all"

Which always struck you as an odd thought. Youve been in the game your entire life. Even your brother has. "...its been like 20 years right? When will we be out of Early Game?"

She smiles and looks at you, "No clue"

"Wow, that's really helpful"

"Heheh...it really depends on what we do, and how we play. Just take it from me, we're no where near End Game."

And well, you have to. You've never known more than this life, where as your mom and the Big 5 have seen an entire world, which is, supposedly, a thousand times bigger than the area The System has given you. You've always wondered what that'd even be like, thousands of people...no, millions of people, all living in a village that spanned further than the human eye could see, with people living in little houses on top of each other.
Its unfathomable.

You finish and leave in silence.

With the thought of such 'cities' still fresh in your mind, you start the rounds around the village. Right in front of your house is the town square. There, the village spirit - a tall, muscly man with steel grey skin, a long nose, and small guns mounted on its shoulders and forearms- spends most of its time.

As do most of the children, and the adults holding outside classes there.

Your mom seems concerned about that. Something about the boon being in the town center, and therefore, also being where everyone makes ammo for their guns. But she was out voted long , long ago. You think its fine. After all, they built a building around it right? Its not like the kids are in there, playing with the Boom Powder.....Usually...

You hang around and listen for a moment, but move on once it becomes clear they're just talking about the old worlds ideas of magic today. Sure, its interesting stuff, but you've been told about it at least a dozen times since you could remember. You'd even venture to bet that they were talking about witches and wizards and such before then too. Education starts early. You suppose its what people need to do, to get ideas across. You mom often talked about the pros and cons of how open The System is to interpretation. On one hand, you can be whatever you want. On the other hand, it doesn't offer you any guidance on what might be best.

Well, for those from the Old World, maybe. You always feltlike there was some guidance. There was always your Birth Path, and your Birth Skill. Maybe you couldnt always see more than the names of them, but they were always there.

Moving on, you head towards the mountain, and follow a [Herder] as they herd their goats around. You all walk around the olive grove, and then head towards the front of the village. There stands someone who has volunteered to be an escort as they head towards the river for a drink. You stay by the entrance and give them a casual send off, watch the caravan still around, and then look towards the village innards. What should you do now?

[ ] Go check out the caravan

[ ] Go check out the combat classes

[ ] Go check out the shooting range

[ ]Go find William

[ ] Go find another Big 5
- [ ] who?

[ ] Go see what the Classless are doing

[ ] Go talk to the Village Spirit

[ ] Write in: ???

For this round, you do not have to vote by plans if you dont want to

Skills Slots and Meeting Fort
Mechanics have been updated!
Character sheet has been updated!
Skills have been acquired and updated!

Having filled 3 out of your five skill slots, you feel like you have a decent selection. Sense wind from your times being a caravan scout and hunter, and Adrenaline Boost from your combat training. The latter really helps a lot, shoring up your not so great speed stat. You also have the meditation skill, but only because your mother insisted that you learn it. She insists that everyone learns it, really. But not many get far with it in this gun toting town. You think most people are too aggressive and nose-to-the-grindstone to want to put much work into something that requires sitting still for long periods of time. You're one of them. Still, you haven't gotten rid of it, just in case you need its passive abilities.

But now you've only got two slots left. Slots are a premium resource. Luckily, you know a few facts. The first, is that you will have a change in slots once you've made your Class. And the other is that skills can be merged, and even just straight up deleted. Of course, deleting a skill doesn't mean you cant do it anymore, just that The System doesn't provide boosts or benefits or make it easier anymore. Still, the constraints feel tight sometimes, like when you think about actually training under a mentor.

Five skill slots have never really sounded like a lot. You step out of the way and look through your stat screen again. No one can see what you can see unless you show them, but everyone understands when someone stays still for a while, and look like they're reading something. Your eyes drift over to your Birth path...Kingdom Craft. And the first quest is about learning a craft...or...something artistic. Of course it is. Theres never a time limit on a birth path quests...nor any requirement to do them at all. Still, some kids always want to know the destiny the game has chosen for them. It doesnt help that Birth Paths dont come with a description, like apparently every other Path does. Not that you've taken on any other Path yourself...

No mentor, no paths...not even a quest yet.

Maybe you're going about this the wrong way. Inefficient, your mom and brother would say. Youve ignored them for years, but now that you realize you're probably lagging behind...you're considering it.

You head over to the village spirit, who, despite his big and tough exterior, is currently playing with some of the children by spouting 'bullets' of water of his finger tips. Ah, that brings back memories.

As you approach, the village spirit looks up at you and takes on a curious, but more serious look, dismissing the children. "Hello, how can I help you? Have you come to make your Class?"

"Hey Fort" you start, still smiling despite his sudden shift in demeanor. "No, Im not ready for a Class. I wanted to ask you about quests. I can still take them right?"

"Yes. I do have a selection of Village Quests that a Classless can achieve. The rewards to yourself are small, but the danger is minimum. Are you wanting to take a Village Quest?"

[] Yes, let's see what quests are available

Players First Quest
"Yes, let's see what you got"

Fort smiles slightly, giving a nod as a screen similar to your stat screen pops up. This was surprising, but explained why people would stand around for a while in the middle of talking to the big guy. Maybe it shouldnt have been surprising at all. You navigated to the tab that indicated 'Classless/Apprentice' and found six options that seemed to be something you could look at doing.

[ ] Village Quest: Barn Raising
The Village has begun preparations to create its first barn to house animals in. Assist with the manual labor. (Reward: 5 xp, banked)

[ ] Village Quest: Fueling the Troups
The village has begun preparations to create its first barn to house animals in. Assist with cooking enough food to keep the workers fed and spirited. (Reward: 1 Best Chefs apron)

[ ] Village Quest: Streamlining 1/3
Report to Lily the [Siren Arachne] to help. Attend to whatever task she asks of you. After three are completed, the quest is completed. (Reward: 5 xp, banked)

[ ] Village Quest: The Way of Iron
Another village has requested a large amount of iron. This has created the need for an expansion to the Caravan. Report to William the [Monster Sculpter] to learn more. (Reward: 5 Metalic Monster Bones)

[ ] Village Quest: Herding Kittens
Due to increased activity, the children are more curious than ever, and very rowdy. Meanwhile, there are few hands left to help reign them in. Report this to Samara the [Great Warrior-Philosopher] and assist in managing the children until lunchtime. (Reward: + 1 Willpower Point)

[ ] Village Quest: Extra lookout
The caravan has come in, but the village is still expecting another to return. Join the scouts and small welcome party to keep an eye out and make sure their final stretch is safe. (Reward: 1 Copper Spyglass Telescope)

[ ] Exit without quest

You may take up to THREE village Quests at a time, quests will refresh as needed.

Noah1
Noah sighs, and stoops over his latest carcasses. One Storm Jackalope, and five 'Kappoid Rabbits'. Its one of the strangest names he has ever come across, though the monsters themselves were also quite strange. These were not simply water elemental rabbits, but they had sleek blue fur, elongated and webbed toes, and a turtle shell on their backs.

But he did manage to capture a few alive once the Boss was defeated, and they stopped attacking him. He was lucky with this lot. Water skills with a boss with the lightning element, could give most people some trouble. Particularly around a body of water. The young man removes several pieces of wood from his inventory, as well as a metal grate, some panels of woven wood, a few wheels, and a rope.

By the time he has assembled the whole cage, his time is about up, and it is with some relief when he finally releases the rabbits into the cage. One boss carcass, five spawn carcass, and six live spawn. Not a bad haul. He wonders if it would prove more or less useful to bring in the live ones. He had never done that before, but he is sure the village will figure something out. If nothing else, they could be killed, cleaned, and compressed.

Everything is shut tight, so he sets his gaze on what's really important here. Ahead of him are three very important features. The wall of the time bubble, the river, and what appears to be an old wooden structure to cross said river. Unfortunately, the eternal mist that denotes his limits doesn't let him see what's beyond the bridge. Straightening up, Noah heads over to the last mark he had left in the ground, and begins to measure with his staff. One staff. Two staff. And he can only lean it down half way before it hits the invisible wall. Two and a half staves worth of space since his last visit.

It seems like the villages are doing well.

He makes a note in his diary and moves back across, testing the water. Here, the water is even warmer than previous records. There are even the barely visible wisps of steam coming up under the bridge. With some thought, he makes a few more notes down. He does not know where the structure leads, but it is a sign of civilization from the old world.

Perhaps they should prepare an encampment soon.
