...'nother newbie question, how do I do that? Do I just like, find one somewhere and DM them?
i think the rules would be violated. you need to ask a moderator,at least.
I would seriously recommend checking first:
Sufficient Velocity Rules on Allowable Content before telling someone to ask a moderator.
This is also because
Moderators (in theory) Cannot Give Approval for Content to be posted
The Rules and Procedures of Sufficient Velocity
Rule 6: Acceptable Content on SV
Sufficient Velocity allows content which contain elements (such as sex scenes, drug use, and violence) which may be uncomfortable for some readers, as long as that content is handled maturely. We do not allow content which is pornographic, sexually or violently exploitative, or which exploits the participation of minors.
Well, yeah, of course we haven't announced the policy change, we haven't changed it yet. So any announcement of said, and discussion of said, would be pretty premature. As such, you'll forgive me if I speak a little abstractly here. We've tossed this thing back and forth several times, and we...
forums.sufficientvelocity.com
The reason for this is pretty simple: we don't want to do it any more. Beyond that it is an additional imposition of work on a forum where pretty much everyone is behind on something, it puts us in an increasingly uncomfortable position where we are exercising editorial control. By which I mean when a staff member signs off on your update or omake or whatever, that's not just an indication that it doesn't break the rules, it's actually SV's seal of approval. That makes us responsible for it to a greater than with other content on the platform.
Particularly, governments around the world are becoming increasingly interested in what happens with online platforms, and increasingly the people who run those platforms can be held responsible for what happens. Obviously I'm not Mark Zuckerberg so I'm not exactly, but I'm also not Mark Zuckerberg, and if something goes wrong I'll be bankrupted by the legal fees. There's a genuine risk at play.
You can always ask in the
Private Answer Section of the forums about things, or even on the discord server, but I do not recommend asking moderation of the site to tell you whether something you are making for the forum is approved or not.
The rules are fairly well-outlined, and while there is
some guesswork, moderators can be forgiving about content. Should rules be violated there is an appeal system, and it is intended to be balanced and fair, and having an infraction does not block you from continuing to write media (you just should be a bit more conscientious and sensitive about it)
If you want an example of how SV QMs can end up creating a situation that does need to be intervened in, and / or could cause a lengthy deliberation, there was recently a Quest that had been infracted (if I understand and recall correctly) at least once prior for a similar reason if not twice. This was because the choices offered necessitated an extensive discussion on the 'ethics' and 'merits' of sexual assault happening in the narrative. As grave as it is a thread and shit that went down, it'll probably also be a landmark appeal worth reading when it comes to Serious Business in writing nsfw content on the site.
The site already has nsfw subject matters, such as a couple essays on kink and queer sexuality (
iirc one specifically on how the idea of 'pornography' is blurred when it comes to fetishes like rubber or latex).
The 'Mature' Prefix, as seen with the essay at the end, would be advisable in my view.
HOWEVER, Prefixes are reportedly going to be deprecated, and as such may not be worth relying on.
Currently "Mature" is an uncategorized tag, whereas "Mature Content" is not yet an existing tag. Creating a new tag is allowed for any thread OP or those with sufficient user privileges via account upgrades,
and the tag wrangling system means that whether the tag is noticed by tag wrangling or not, you can submit a ticket so that mature content is relegated to being a Content Tag.
oh. huh. it was just one guy. I thought there were two because two voices maybe?
but that was so much easier than I thought it'd be. just one mook with a knife.
I'm personally not a fan of using this situation to gain a sexual favor. Even if the protag is a straight older-teen or whatever, I'm
especially not for asking a sex worker who's just been put through being strangled and possible assaulted with having to get her rescuer off,
or feeding on her because she's been through enough.

[] Nothing, really.
[X] Write In (Requires QM Approval).
Rob gangster. Tell prostitute to leave town. Find another place to hide starting from the next night.
[X] Write In .
Rob gangster. Check for phone and any way to identify him. Could be useful in the future.
Tell prostitute to leave town. Ask to exchange numbers, because we may want to coordinate stealing something at some point. We are fine if its just a burner phone.
Dont insist.
After she leaves- Drink from gangster.Do not kill. Find another place to hide starting from the next night.
Hey folks,
@lukethreadwalker @Narasan @H2F2 @Prof.MoreRight @MagnusTheRed
It may be worth using plan voting formatting here. The Vote Tally system interpreted all of these plans as the same "[X] Write In (Requires QM Approval)."
reformatted could be either Write In Plan "name goes here", or "name goes here" (requires qm approval if need be)
then the usual
-[X] action
-[X] action
ex
-[]Rob Gangster
--[]Check for Phone and ID, could be useful in the future
--[] Drink but Dont Kill after she leaves
-[]Dont Insist, Tell to Leave Town
--[]Ask to exchange numbers, may want to coordinate stealing together
--[] It's okay if it's a burner phone
This way Vote Tally will actually be able to tell the two plans apart.
