In Sinnoh, the Journey is... Something most peoples do. At 15 years old, you get a Pokemon, and you attempt to beat all eight Gyms of the region in ten months. The overwhelming majority of young Trainers don't make it, and stop their attempt after their first or second badge. A good number make it further, but can't quite make it to the Eight badges and try again the next year, with the benefit of experience and of their Pokemon. The very best, and the very few, make it to the Lily of the Valley Conference in their first year. This is your dream.
