[X] The Perpetual
It is the 25th millennium. For 10,000 years Humanity has spread across the stars, travelling across the incomprehensible vastness of space by doing what Humanity does best... cheating. Nothing can travel faster then the speed of light. A simple fact. A simple rule. A rule that for all Humanity's many, many centuries of technological advancement has stood unbroken against everything that could be thrown at it. So how then did Humanity come to span the stars? By cheating...
You were there when your people first discovered it. The strange and turbulent dimension that lays just beyond your reality. The place that would eventually be dub "The Warp". At the time it was considered little more then a scientific oddity. A major breakthrough in our understanding of the universe to be sure, but not something that the average person need concern themselves with all that much about. After all what does it matter to the office worker, the factory supervisor, or the even the politician that there is place that overlays our reality? A place that we cannot see or touch? What use is this the knowledge of its existence beyond settling some esoteric debates amongst the academia? Oh if only they knew.
It would still be thousands of years before anything came of this discovery. But with the benefit of hindsight, something you possess in great supply, it is likely safe to say that this discovery was the greatest game changer in the history of mankind. For it was this discovery that would make it possible for Humanity to sidestep that speed of light. Not necessarily break it, but circumvent it. For by plunging into the Warp a ship could travel light-years in a matter of days instead of the centuries.
There were some growing pains to be sure, you still remember the horror stories and rumours that surrounded those early forays into the unknown. But as understanding grew, and specialised technologies advanced the Warp became... Not less dangerous per-say, but safer to navigate in the very least. Much like the sailors of old, before the advent of planet wide geo-engineering tamed the oceans once and for all, Humanity learned to read the Warp and its currents. And in doing this, you could finally turn your noses up at the so called "universal speed limit". The galaxy was open, and no more time would be wasted in exploring it.
The irony of course is not lost upon you. That the very thing that allowed your species to conquer the stars in the first place, is now what leaves you trapped on this planet would likely be quick chuckle worthy. If you weren't the one stuck here. The Warp Storms came without warning, making it all but impossible for ships to enter or leave the system without being torn to shreds by the clashing ethereal tides of the Warp. Such storms had been known to exist, but they had always been rare and mercifully brief occurrences. The sort of thing that may leave a planet cut off from the galaxy at large for a few months at most. This storm however, has raged continuously for five years now. And the locals were starting to get worried...
But all in all the world of Kaylar was not the worst place for you to be stranded. The planets gravity was well within the comfortable range, its air was breathable without any technological assistance, and eating the local fauna and flora didn't make you shit out your organs. So right off the bat it was better some worlds you'd had the displeasure of living on for a time. Though you would have to say the planets most striking feature, the first thing you noticed when you'd arrived on the world a decade prior, was...
[] How much it reminded you of Earth
A Continental, Earth-like world. Great landmasses are separated by oceans, with large climate variations depending on latitude and precipitation.
[] The vast oceans that covered its surface
An Ocean world. Water covers more than 90% of the surface, with scattered islands making up the remaining percentage.
[] How green the world looked from orbit
A Tropical world. Most landmasses are covered in dense vegetation. Seasons with significant precipitation are interchanged with drier periods.
[] The massive icecaps that stretched almost to the equator.
An Arctic world. The poles are big, and significant water deposits can be found permanently frozen as glacial ice. However, the planet experiences seasonal variations and the equatorial band is covered by vegetation.
[] The great mountain ranges that spanned the world.
An Alpine world. Snow covered mountaintops and scattered valleys dominate the landscape.
[] The wide open plains, covered in an endless sea of grass.
A Savannah world. Dominated by dry, arid plains, this world has very little variance in elevation. Aside from a few ubiquitous grasses vegetation is largely concentrated around shallow oases.
[] The sand. It's coarse, rough and it gets everywhere.
A Desert World. Precipitation and major bodies of surface water are relatively rare. Significant temperature variations between day and night cycles. Vegetation is scarce, but even moderate precipitation can make the desert bloom.
Still planetary aesthetics aside you did not appreciate being trapped here. Millennia of interstellar travel has left you spoiled. You'd not spent more then a few decade on a given world since before the development of the Warp-Drive, and the Great Galactic Diaspora that followed. Even then, back when you'd still been confined to the Sol System you'd made a habit of bouncing around the colonies of Mars and the Outer system regularly. Not just for the change of scenery but also to hide your existence from the world at large. Such is the plight of an ageless immortal. You possess what people have sought for countless generations, since before even your time. And you know all to well the lengths a Human will go to get something that they want.
It is for that reason that even here on Kaylar, cut off from the rest of the galaxy as it is, you have fashioned a new identity for yourself. One that will allow you to live here for a few more decades if necessary without drawing undue attention.

Current Occupation?
Though you've forgotten more about any given subject then most people would ever learn, there is one area that still holds your fascination even after all these millennia. And it is in this area of expertise in which you have sought employment.
[] Planetary Defence Consultant
You have personally witnessed, and in more then a few cases actively participated in, just about every form of warfare imaginable. And in these uncertain times, the local planetary government is more then happy to have a skilled consultant on had to help advise their meagre Defence Force.
[] Local B-List Celebrity
Despite your need to conceal your true nature from the galaxy at large, you could never quite help yourself from somehow finding a way to become the centre of attention. Something about the glitz and glamour of the celebrity lifestyle always inevitable draws you to it, like a moth to a flame.
[] Mid-Level Bureaucrat
You've managed to worm your way into the planetary government. Low enough down the totem pole to remain largely anonymous, but high enough that given time you can subtle nudge the entire planets bureaucracy to suit your whims. Just as you've done countless times before across countless worlds.
[] Information Broker
As one all too familiar with keeping secrets, you've also become something of an expert in uncovering them. And just like every other world in the galaxy that Humans have set foot on. Kaylar has plenty of secrets waiting to be uncovered. For the right price of course.
[] University Researcher
Though there may be much about the highest tiers of Human technology that even you can't quite grasp. It is more then fair to say that no mortal Human could match the breadth and depth of knowledge you've accumulated over your long life. As such it was relatively simple to acquire a grant from one the local university's to continue your personal research.
