It's a while ago so can you show some examples? Cuz I didn't even remember that Parvati went with us to District 23...
Here's where it was and I guess it wasn't obvious unless you know district 23.

You pretend not to notice the byplay and nod, one finger still stroking your new ring. "I'll try to be careful. Do you want anything from over there?"

That earns both sisters' attention. Where Parvati just arches a brow however, Mai is clearly surprised. They both know what you just asked, but really? At this point you got used to Parvati's habits; it is fine as long as she keeps them away from you.

"You told them?" Mai asks her sister, who shakes her head.

"No. Ciel is just observant." So saying, Parvati turns back to you. "But no, thanks. Keeping the stuff fresh would be a hassle. I'll just have to go myself one day."

Ohhh. So that's what that was.

I was so goddamn clueless lmao, I just skimmed over it and thought..."Wait to keep it fresh? Does she means how Roland keeps the pajeon hot or whatever?" and just kept reading lol.

So does Ciel actually knows or is Parvati just assuming things wrong?

I mean, Ciel'll prob be cool with it. Rats prob eat their fair share of flesh just to survive.

I assume Ciel knows right?

[] Plan: Frontal Sneak In.
-[] Capture a faithful to interrogate them. Try asking for information about the cult itself first before capturing them properly, if possible.
--[] Have Parvati draw attention via a visit as someone 'interested' in the belief.
---[] Giano and Ciel will stake out the place tailing Parvati.

I like this one. It has unfortunate probability of saying bye-bye to Parvati if anything goes wrong but I don't see how we can do this job safely without risking to fail.

She didn't. It was us, the guy who was killed by Claw for evading Taxes, the guy who was killed by us because he didn't communicate well, and thief, iirc. Also, yeah, I agree with Dybbuk - this is the City, so having a person who likes the taste of human meat as a roommate/friend/whatever is fine, and it could be a lot worse.
Weeeeellll, no one said she had to be a cannibal forever. Just gotta find a cannibal craving be-gone stick 3000 to smack her with.
MMMH. That's nice. And can serve as an explanation - why was she so friendly in the first place.
AHHH so we were potentially a walking talking filet mingnon!?!?

edit: makes me wonder if there was/is a "ate by Parvati" "achievement"

The Capture part is to reduce that risk as much as possible.

But honestly speaking, for a case like this where we are basically operating on our own, it's iffy.

I would've straight up called in an investigation office to help us out if we had the cash to drown a Claw in. But we don't.

So we're on our own for this one. We could ask Giano to pull some connections and help, but honestly speaking, we already are relying on her a lot, and this mission is more for Ciel's sake than anything.

That's why I hate the idea of sending Parvati in even more.

If she dies. God if she dies. I'm confident she's strong enough to not get murdered, but mind control or other bullshit isn't in shortage when you live in the City.

I'd probably change it to remove the Parvati conditions if someone can convince me of a better alternative since this is just the prototype.

It is a good point, though you do not like being passive like this. Giano nods along either way when Parvati suddenly frowns. "Hold on, the Prophet of Yesteryear is technically leading a Syndicate, right? How does that work for the Fixers attending? Legally, I mean?"

"Badly," is all Giano can offer with a shrug. "I don't know the details about how things are going during these sermons, but I do not see them getting out of associating with Syndicates if there is an investigation."

I say we use this to our advantage.

[ ] Plan blackmail
-[ ] Approach one of the fixer members of the cult while they're alone and blackmail them with the threat of losing their job.
--[ ] If they still seem hesitant make it clear that even if you fail the Shi main branch is going to follow up and they know exactly how that will go.

No votes yet budd.

We all know which one will win so it's not even a question lol.

In all honesty, it probably won't be that bad.

While I dunno if Naron would allow it, the "safest vote" would probably be this.

[] Capture the faithful to interrogate them. If possible try asking for information about the cult itself first before capturing them properly. See if you can sweeten the deal with some change.
-[] Create a new plan from there.

We are only 'scouting' things out right now. So this might be for the best in order for the gang to not move too quickly.

No need to put any of us at a large risk. Though it might put the cult on alert if we make ourselves too noticeable.

......
Well we can always ask to keep the giblets that the Aug shops remove from us to make room room for said augs and give them to her as a gift????
As long as she doesn't eat nice people then I'm fine with it
Especially considering most individuals in the city are not nice so her eating those who are part of the fingers or wings
Welp...... it's a bad habit but not the worst in the city
She hasn't murdered us so she isn't a murderous cannibal
Just likes human flesh
Mayhaps getting her pork would be appreciated as well?
I digress, mayhaps we could get k corps singularity in the future? Should help if we ever want to do any weirdly sentimental dismemberment
And if anyone pushes to date parvati
Mayhaps we can get a heart augment and give our old heart as a creepy and sentimental gift to her?????

That is fine with me, though it may make the chapter shorter.

Of note, this mission will not be over with one vote regardless. You are getting a vote on how to approach the problem after Ciel gathered information... unless Ciel does it in a way that forces a confrontation.

Oh in that case.

[] Capture the faithful to interrogate them. If possible try asking for information about the cult itself first before capturing them properly. See if you can sweeten the deal with some change.

Absolutely safest. Least risky too.

Provided, Parvati is pretty lowkey, but it's probably for the better that she doesn't attempt an infiltration on her own.

So uh. I'm glad people explained where it was shown our friend is a cannibal.

I personally think that is super fucked up: prions are terrifying.

----

Anyway, I did not enjoy the size of those death flags and and deeply worried for her. Can we please have some sort of:

[ ] Wrap in Pavarti in bubblewrap and also nothing bad ever happens again

Yep
But considering the city and its nature
I think prions are the least of any worries especially if we consider how they are likely been eradicated by a wing
A worry is whatever diseases did survive to run rampant in the city
Diseases that might look straight out of resident evil

but money is not as much of an issue in your eyes.

*King of greed wants to know your location*

"I tried, you know? These last few months I tried so hard to keep up with you, but I just can't. I'm tired and scared. I almost died at least ten times the last month. How can you bear with this, Ciel?"

The more she speaks, the more you realise the signs were there; Parvati gave it her all every day, but she slowly became more sluggish outside of work. Not zombie-esque like Mai but definitely with less energy. You understand the fear that must have been eating her from the inside better than anyone.

Time for a little talk about the fact that she doesn't need to run at the same speed as us to be important to us?

who decided that you can dream but she can not?

You should ask Agnus, I'm sure he has some ideas. *looks at the Head pointedly*

Parvati is past her breaking point and needs at least a moment to rest her wings.

"Contract Office. I guess the first thought was correct after all." She huffs weakly and nuzzles a little closer. "I can't walk by your side for much longer, not like this. I can't fight every day of my life. I can't dream like you do. But that doesn't mean I can't help you reach wherever you're going."

Exactly! Glad she saw it, she doesn't need to fight to matter, she can be safe, her and Mai... well, if Mai doesn't decide to join a combat office too....

Anyway, it isn't bad to not want to fight all the time, she is not lesser for it, her dream is her dream, not ours, and it seems that hers is more about stability than glory, which is perfectly fine.

It was definitely not just an overimaginative dream.

You should ask her to sit on your lap again, just to be sure. :V

"Alright. One more. This better not kill us."

"Here's to hoping."

Agreed, better not kill her.

Good thing we aren't in a war film, she already tripped some deaths flags... (One more job and I will *retire*, talking about how to live with her family....)

How does that work for the Fixers attending? Legally, I mean?

Fist foray into contract laws!

[] Parvati sneaks into a sermon

Her, alone, right after a talk about how stressed she is... pass.

-Parvati's Fixer Grade changes: 7 -> 6 (I forgot to give a message from 8 to 7, but who cares)

The nearest Arbiter does! All changes of ranks should be clear! :V

What the FLIP! HUUUHHHH????

EDIT: Did I miss something in the writing that hinted at this? Am I Crazy?!?
That was a surprise indeed. Though I guess we should've seen it coming. Great. Our girlfriend is a cannibal.

Quite a lot of comments on how what she asked for was human flesh when she got us to her *special* restaurant. It wasn't really a surprise, this has been established ages ago.

It also has been almost explicitly said not that far back, Ciel remarked on not wanting her *special treat*, and making it quite clear they knew what it was.

Come on, I made jokes about that every single update it was pointed out, and not subtle ones at that!

That is fine with me, though it may make the chapter shorter.

Of note, this mission will not be over with one vote regardless. You are getting a vote on how to approach the problem after Ciel gathered information... unless Ciel does it in a way that forces a confrontation.

"What do you mean, *Go in a sermon and scream LEAD ME TO YOUR LEADER! I AM GOING TO KILL HIM! at the top of your lungs?*"

I personally think that is super fucked up: prions are terrifying.

Also overblown, I saw several back and forth on them even being a problem with human cannibalism, with more on the side of *not actually real*, if you're thinking of mad cows disease, it is good to remind yourself that cows are herbivores and we are omnivores, there is a very big difference between a cow eating meat and a human, not just for cannibalism.

Edit:

Forgot to vote.

Not a bad vote.

I'm fine with any plans that require us to conduct small-time reconnaissance first.

[X] Plan blackmail

People who aren't a part of the cult are more likely to sell them out so yeah… blackmail.
[X] Plan blackmail

I think most might have left out that our enemy might be some sort of high-functioning precog good enough for others to want him dead.
They probably know we're coming. I don't think infiltration or strategies that can be read on the surface overtly are ideal if we assume that the Prophet may, for example, know we are going and from a vague direction from where we will attack, but not how or vice versa.

Consider the possibility that the possible precog (whether or not armed with a related Singularity) is a suitable Urban Plague precisely because of its ability to see the future to some extent.
