You wake up with no memories, no identity, and no name to use in an unfamiliar world that is seemingly anything but friendly. It's up to you to find a way to survive, but luckily, you won't be alone on this long journey.
Foreword 01
When you woke up from a deep, pleasant sleep (or maybe it was a horrible nightmare, the details were blurry in your mind) you were confused and disoriented. At the moment you had opened your eyes, an annoying and intense light had completely blinded you, forcing you to cover yourself with one of your arms while you made a small sound of annoyance.

Were you looking directly at the sun or something?

Before opening your eyes again, you made sure to look away in another direction to avoid the source of that light. But you were met with the strange sight of several beds arranged next to each other, with their sheets perfectly smooth as if no one had ever used them.

Maybe someone just got organized and took care of making up all the beds before leaving, there's no way you can know. Where are you, anyway? There is a faint smell of alcohol and what appears to be disinfectant in the air.

With a little more effort than you'd like to admit, you lifted your upper body and sat up on the bed. It's strange, even though you're sure you've slept for several hours, you feel very tired and weak, as if you hadn't slept in the first place.

Shouldn't you feel energized after a good rest?

In any case, from your new position you had a better view of the place. It was a room which seemed to be some kind of hospital or infirmary, although it seemed a little strange to you how empty everything was. You're pretty sure there should at least be a doctor present to check on the patients.

Although right now, technically you would be the only patient.

What is this place? You can't recognize it, so it's not a place you've been before and you can't remember how you got here in the first place. You checked your body for any injuries that could explain your stay in an infirmary or hospital, and you won't deny that what you found was disconcerting.

Parts of your torso, arms, legs and even your neck were covered with white bandages, some were even painted blood red. You touched one of the bandages covering your arm, more out of curiosity than anything else, and immediately felt the manifestation of an unpleasant itch.

It was pain

You tried to search through your memories, but the only thing you found was a deep, turbulent fog that makes everything blurry. Somehow you can catch a glimpse of something, explosions and screams that fade into the distance, but when you try to dig deeper, you simply find nothing.

It's like your head is just a blank space.

"What happened to me?" You muttered to yourself as you massaged your eyes with one hand. A small headache was slowly becoming present in your head.

"You know, I wonder that too" A sudden female voice was present with those words. Naturally, being caught off guard caused a huge shock that nearly caused you to fall off the bed, and you could even swear you let out an embarrassing and pitiful scream in the process.

Quickly composing your posture, you leaned in the direction of the voice and found the figure of a girl standing in the middle of a half-open metal door. A small smile plastered her face, which only made you blush in embarrassment.

"I'm sorry" She apologized with a small laugh. "I didn't want to scare you"

...

The girl standing in front of you had a slightly peculiar appearance. The first thing you had noticed was that she was wearing a kind of black military uniform, along with some details on the clothing and a ribbon on her arm that added the colors red and yellow.

All of this, accompanied by long yellow hair and green eyes like emeralds, gave her an appearance that was no less than beautiful. Although you seriously wonder why she has a gun hanging from her back, but that's what the military does, that's you assume.

"You... How long have you been there?" You ask after passing a few seconds of awkward silence.

"Not much, I just heard the last thing you said" Was the quick and simple response from the girl, who closed the door before approaching the bed. "Are you feeling better now?"

"Better...?" At first you're a little confused by the question, but you quickly remembered the bandages. "Do you know where we are or what happened to me?"

"Unfortunately, I may not be able to answer many of your questions." The girl bowed her head in apology. "I don't even know what happened."

"You do not know...?" You can't help but repeat, more out of instinct than anything else.

"No" She shook her head "a lot happened during these last few hours" She sat in a chair that was next to your bed. "I found you badly injured and floating in the water, so I brought you here and did my best to treat your wounds."

"I see..." You look at your bandaged arms again. You can only make assumptions about what might have happened to you, and considering there's a clearly military-looking girl in front of you, most of your assumptions aren't exactly peaceful.

"Wait..." Suddenly, something she just said caught your attention. "Did you just say you found me floating in the water?"

"Oh... About that..." The girl tilted her head to the side with some discomfort. "We're basically in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of an ocean to be more specific. As for how we got here, I don't know, my memories are a little hazy."

"Hazy memories?" Those words immediately caught your attention. "What's the last thing you remember?"

The girl gave you a strange look for a moment, however, she closed her eyes for a few seconds while she thought about her answer. "It's hard to describe, but I think I was in combat, with gunshots and explosions everywhere, but other than that, I can't say much more."

Gunshots and explosions everywhere, something surprisingly similar to what you yourself remember, although she left out the screaming part, or there are probably no screams in her memories.

"And you?" The girl speaks again. "What's the last thing you remember?"

"I…" You took a moment to search your mind again, in an attempt to clear up the fuzzy details before answering. "I remember a lot of explosions and screams in the distance... But other than that, there's not much else"

"I see... So we're on the same page" She says, flashing a small smile. "Can you give me your name? Maybe a little introduction could help us remember some things."

You agree with her words, but quickly find a problem that you hadn't realized until now. Your name... You don't remember your own name, no matter how much you search through your few memories, there is nothing about your name.

"Something happens?" The girl asks a little worried when she saw that you remained silent. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, although it would be awkward not to have a name to refer to you."

[ ]No, it's not that I don't want to give you my name, I just don't remember it... But you can use a nickname with me if you want.

[ ]Honestly, my mind is blank. Could you help me find a temporary name until I remember it?

[ ]I'm sorry, but I can't remember my name right now. However, in the meantime you can call me...

Throughout this story you will have the opportunity to interact and meet a large number of characters belonging to different factions. Each character has an individual and independent trust meter, which will go up or down depending on your actions, or the consequences of them.

Trust ranges from 0-100

Having a trust of 0 means that the character is neutral towards you, not trusting, but not distrusting your actions either. At this stage, they don't have a set opinion of you yet. There's nothing special here, other than it being the starting point with most characters.

On the other hand, having a trust level of 100 means that the character has absolute faith and unwavering loyalty placed in you. At this point, they will trust and back you in almost anything you are going to do, even if it means going against the wishes of their faction.

However, the trust meter can also show negative values, which are usually reversible, but the higher the negative value, the more difficult it will be to regain that lost trust.

It is not the same -5, which is little more than a simple difference of opinions, as -50, which already indicates resentment and hatred.

The faction trust meter works similarly to the individual meter. Your actions and their consequences have a direct impact on the meter, for example, if you get along with their enemies, trust may go down, but if you attack their enemies, trust may go up.

It is entirely possible to get along with all factions, however, it is much more difficult than simply choosing a side. There is also the option of antagonizing everyone and trying to get along with the Siren it's not impossible, but don't expect it to be an easy path.

Having 0 trust with a faction means that you are a nobody, just another person in the crowd. They have not yet formed an opinion of you.

On the other hand, a trust of 100 means that if necessary, they would be willing to start a war for you.

As a side effect, a faction's trust has an influence on the individual's meter. For every 10 trust you have with the faction, characters belonging to that faction get an extra +1 for each trust gain, but beware, the same goes for negative values.

Opinions are related to the trusted mediator and are different for each character. Some may see you as a great friend, while others may consider you a heroine or even a love interest. It mostly depends on the impression you've made on them with your actions.

An opinion is not final and can usually be changed, but if a character is absolutely convinced of something, it will be difficult to change their mind.

Opinion may or may not affect trust gain.

Why choose a name before we know anything about our MC?

Foreword 02
"I'm sorry," you say quietly as you shake your head, your memories really were a disaster. "but I can't remember my name right now. However, in the meantime you can call me..."

For a few seconds, you paused to think of an improvised name that you could use that wouldn't be too weird. Several options crossed your mind, each one more exotic than the last, to the point that it seemed curious to you that they were the product of the same line of thought.

Your imagination really is... Imaginative.

But among all those options, one in particular caught your attention. A name that for some reason seemed right and you liked it. Maybe it was simply because you liked the way it sounded when you imagined it, but you quickly decided to use it as your new temporary name, at least until you can remember the real one.

You raised your head confidently and looked into the girl's emerald eyes. "Yukari, you can call me Yukari."

"Alright, Yukari it is then." She smiles and extends one of her hands, and instinctively you find yourself returning the gesture in a brief handshake that lasted a few seconds. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Yukari, I am SturmGewehr 1944, or StG44 for short."

... What?

"Excuse me?" Was the only thing you could say after your mind was able to process the information you had just been given. You might have heard something very strange... But you weren't entirely sure. "Could you please repeat that? I think I didn't hear it well..."

"SturmGewehr 1944, or StG44 for short," she repeats, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. "I know it sounds very different from yours, but it's my name, or rather, it's my official designation and there's nothing I can do to change it."

Oh no... You know how to recognize the possible sources of a new headache, and this is one of them, or maybe her name is nothing unusual and your amnesia is simply causing you problems? Either way, you can't let something like this go by without trying to get some answers.

"Okay..." You say as you raise a finger. "Can you clarify for me what you mean by 'official designation' please?"

"Oh... Well," she tilts her head slightly to the side as she says, "Actually, my full designation is, SturmGewehr 1944-class light cruiser, or simply, StG44 light cruiser."

Well, instead of clearing up your doubts, those words only managed to confuse you more than before, with new questions. She will have to excuse you for staying silent for a few seconds, but you needed to gather some of your thoughts. Even if you don't remember anything, you're almost sure that this is the strangest wake up you've had in a long time.

"Sturm...Gewehr 1944" You mentally curse yourself for almost mispronouncing it, but thankfully you didn't. It would have been rather rude to mispronounce someone else's name. "What do you mean you're a light cruiser?"

"Just as you heard it," she quickly replied, not even stopping to think about how strange that statement was. "In fact, you're currently in my infirmary, and since you're the only person on board, I did my best to give you preferential treatment."

She flashed you a proud smile. "I hope you find your stay to be pleasant."

"Um... Thanks for that..." You thank her sincerely. "The bed is actually very comfortable, I have no complaints about it."

"I'm glad to hear that" She says, sounding quite pleased.

"So... I'm the only person on board you?" You ask, not knowing what to think about it. "Is there really no one else?"

"No," she shakes her head. "I have gone through every part of my ship, but other than you, there's no one else on board right now." Suddenly, she takes off one of her white gloves and reaches out her hand to touch your forehead.

"What are you doing?" You ask, not understanding the reason for her actions.

"I have to make sure you don't have a fever or other symptoms," she replies as she pulls her hand away. "It's just a preventative measure, you were pretty badly hurt when I found you and the last thing I want is for you to suffer complications."

That made you look at the bandages covering one of your arms again. Curiosity took over your body and you decided to ask another question. "How bad was I when you found me?"

"Very bad," was her quick and immediate reply. "Your body was covered in wounds and burns, you looked more dead than alive... Are you sure you don't remember what happened to you?"

Multiple wounds and burns covering your body... Immediately, blurry memories filled with screams and explosions come to your head. "No, I... I can only remember screams and explosions, but that's all. I'm not sure if I want to remember all that anymore, I don't think it would be pleasant."

"Like I said, we're on the same page…" She murmurs as she checks the bandage covering your right arm and frowns when she notices the faint stain of blood seeping out from underneath. "I don't have much desire to remember either, I think it's best to leave some things in the dark for now."

"Wait here for a moment," she says softly before standing up and walking to the other side of the room, where she grabbed one of many boxes and brought it over to where you were standing. "Time to change that bandage," she says, revealing the contents of the box.

There were a lot, a lot of bandages in there.

"Isn't it too soon?" You ask curiously. "How long have I been asleep for it to be time to change these bandages?"

"Let me see…" She closes her eyes and thinks for a moment. "I don't know how long you were floating in the water before I found you, but from that point on, it's been at least nineteen hours."

"Nineteen hours?!" Jesus Christ. "I wasn't asleep, I think I was in a coma."

"Maybe you're right, I tried to wake you up many times without success." She lets out a small laugh. "Please extend your arm, I'll change the bandage."

"Um... That depends," StG mutters as she unties the small knot holding the bandage in place. "But don't worry, I'll do it carefully." Suddenly, she gives you a... complicated look. "The wounds are pretty ugly so if you want, you can look away."

"No, it's okay." You give her a small nod to remove the bandage. "I at least want to see with my own eyes how bad I am."

"Okay." She slowly began to remove the bandage.

Immediately a grimace takes over your expression as the bandage, which had been stuck to your wound, slowly peeled off. And the moment you saw the wound, your breathing quickened for a moment. "How..."

Where your skin should have been, there was only a horrible red spot with multiple wounds, extending from your wrist to your elbow. The first thing you wonder is how the hell this isn't killing you from the pain, you can feel it, it's painful, but not as much as you think it should.

"My whole body is covered in these wounds?" You ask, somewhat afraid of the possible answer. Who could have hurt you so much?

"Don't worry, this is the worst of all. The others are milder" StG gives you a reassuring smile. "And I more or less have an idea of who or who were responsible for hurting you"

"What?!" You immediately look at her. "But you said you didn't know what happened to me"

"And I wasn't lying" She answers quickly. "I don't know what exactly happened to you, but I do have an idea of who was responsible"

"And who were they?"

"Okay, then I'll give you a little rundown of what happened since I woke up a little less than twenty hours ago," she murmurs as she covers your wound again with another bandage, one that isn't stained with blood.

"I was mostly just aimlessly sailing around for at least half an hour, fiddling with my radio in search of someone else who could explain the situation to me." Securing the new bandage, she lets out a small sigh. "Then, I found you. And once I rescued you, they showed up as well."

"They?"

"Other ships, very different from me." She gives you a bitter expression. "Before I could try to contact them for help, they started firing with every intention of sinking me, and naturally I had no choice but to defend myself."

You stay silent as you process the information. "So there was a naval battle while I was unconscious?"

You definitely had to have been in a coma for such a fuss to not wake you up.

"I don't think I can call it a naval battle," StG lets out a small laugh, but she looked proud of herself. "I didn't exactly come out unscathed, but I was able to take out half of their fleet before retreating."

You looked at her confused. "Why did you retreat if you were winning?"

"A battleship appeared," StG quickly replied. "I could have engaged it, but with its escort present, I'm not sure I could have won. And since you were on board, I couldn't, nor did I want to, risk it that much."

"And what happened since then?" You murmur curiously. "Have you found them again?"

"Rather, they found me." Suddenly, StG seemed quite tired. "Ever since that confrontation, they've been chasing me, and every time they find me, they attack more and more insistently."

"Well, that sounds... complicated," you comment. "Any reason they might be after you?"

"Other than you?" She shrugs. "I don't really know, at this point, I don't intend to find out either. I adopted a shoot first ask later policy."

"Do you think they might be after me?" You ask a little too alarmed. That's incredibly worrying for you, to have seemingly an entire fleet after your head.

"Honestly, I thought that too, but I quickly dismissed that idea. You were floating alone in the water, if they wanted you, they could have captured or killed you before I got there." She raises her hand and makes a small sign next to her head, circling her finger. "I think they just want violence and nothing more."

"Anyway." Before you could say anything else. "You're safe here with me now, and if those crazy people come looking for blood, well, I'll give them blood. I won't let them hurt you anymore, I promise."

You feel a little calmer hearing those words, although you're still a little worried about the situation. "Thank you for everything you've done for me," you tell her sincerely. "I don't know how to repay you."

"There's no need for that." She answers as she puts her glove back on. "This place is pretty lonely, and having someone else to talk to is already enough payment."

Hearing those words, you can't help but smile. "What are we going to do now then?"

"Nothing." Was StG's simple reply. "The only thing we can do is keep avoiding those ships as we sail, hopefully we might find solid ground, or at least someone who won't shoot us on sight."

You nod, agreeing with the logic of her words. "I understand, I'll help out in any way I can."

At your words, her smile widens. "I was actually planning on going back to my bridge, and you know, it's a pretty lonely place, so… would you like to join me?"

You consider her words for a moment.
