A Man's Mission: A Regiment at War Quest

[X] Florida
[X] Cavalry
[X] Start after Antietam, September 1862 has taken place? [This is where the main butterflies from the other quest start to take hold]

@Skrevski is it possible to play a native American now like those tribes that served in the Confederacy? (Seminole, Cherokee Creek)

Adding Indian Territory could be very interesting but would probably require some pretty specific research. There are sources on it though.

[X] Florida
[X] Cavalry
[X] At the very beginning? [This Option will mean that we most likely won't link up with the other quest any time soon, lots of areas to explore the Confederate side of things.]

I want a French themed regiment.

Humble Beginnings, The 3rd Florda Cavalry forms.

The great state of Florida had rallied to Stars and Bars of the Confederacy early in its history, being the third state to secede from the Union of the United States in January of 1861. A small state, with a population of just over 140,000, almost of which were enslaved. Still, the people of the state were prepared to do their duty for their new country, quickly forming several regiments to serve in its defense.

Throughout 1861 and into 1862 regiments from Florida would serve on both the Eastern and Western Fronts of the great conflict that now engulfed America from coast to coast. The Second, Fifth, and Eighth Regiments of Infantry were sent to support the fighting in Virginia, making a name for themselves starting with the fighting before Richmond. The First and Third Regiments were sent to reinforce the Army of Tennessee under General Bragg after the fall of New Orleans, fighting alongside the First Cavalry and seen to be joined by the Fourth Regiment.

During this time several regiments were held back to help with the defense of the state, including the Sixth Regiment and Second Cavalry, and many independent units spread across the state. One of these was the Third Cavalry Battalion, under command of Major Thomas J. Myers having been formed at Pensacola, Florida, in March 1862 with but two companies. With the war expanding it was decided that Florida would be asked to form several new regiments, including one of cavalry, upon which the Third Cavalry Battalion would be expanded into a regiment.

The Department of the Gulf would soon concentrate the new units joining the Third at Camp Mary Davis, previously established as a Cavalry training camp and used by the First Cavalry upon its formation. Across Florida horses and riders alike were gathered as the two existing companies of the Third Battalion were broken up to provide a cadre for the expansion of the regiment into ten companies. Major Meyers would remain with the regiment and begin the internal training of the regiment but he would not be the one to actually command the formation, that honor would go to...

We are off! Sorry for the bit of delay in getting this going, wrote a bit more for the Yates' side than I originally planned. But we have a small look into our forming regiment, more will be added to that as we now start to develop our commander, the meat and butter of our little adventure here. I'll be giving some options to flush him out and have a few points to work with as we go forward, but I am also going to do something different in that I am going to let you guys choose which Army in the West you will serve with, figured it would be a fun twist and let you guys kind of direct how you want to see things develop!
With a vital question, we begin, upon what name are you known as?

If we're going cavalry, then we oughta go all in. Not really optimized, but hell if you're going to find a better Cavalry officer than this! Fought with Indians, trained by the army, and fighting long and hard in Kentucky and Tennessee. Now we get to sharpen our tooth against "Unconditional Surrender" Grant!

Let me know if I did this right, I'm not use to doing big plan votes.

This is just something I put together for the hell of it. :V Also, I'd like to stay as far away from Yates as possible, considering it would be... pretty awkward to fight against ourselves if we come against Yates, since we'll have to vote against ourselves in two separate quests.

You will not be fighting against Yates at all.

Looks like you did it right Ax!

[] Plan Rough Rider
In my opinion, I like having the focus be on the cavalry. For Yates, we saw what being an infantry regiment and up is like so I wanna see what it is like being in the cavalry. I also think being in the Trans-Mississippi will be the most interesting as I don't really know anything about it.

Going to be very honest, I know nothing about the Trans-Mississippi either >.>

A bit curious, for the Department of the Gulf, what exactly are we going to do? I tried googling "Department of the Gulf" but I basically found nothing about it, in my opinion, it seems the most boring of the bunch.
Fighting off Union invasions from the sea, fighting raids, helping defend forts that come underattack, and a BUNCH More that could happen especially as the Union has taken New Orleans :)
