The dreams were interesting in a vaguely useful sort of way. You learned what you could from them, but your time was better off spent with your parents as you took in everything you could in and played when there was nothing new to learn. Underneath that curiosity however was that ever existing drive to make something. Wonders of a people that seem so familiar to you play through your mind and you find yourself looking at the world around you and taking bits and pieces of what you dream to go with what you see. Mommy and Daddy pick up on this once you start drawing things you imagine with ink or whatever else you can get your hands on. Daddy kept saying that you were just like your mom and would go onto invent new magic, which sounded fun but there were so many other things you could make too!
They got you all kinds of neat toys to build with and pictures to look like, but that other stuff they got you just did not look as fun. Then one time you got a hold of some ink and you started drawing a staff that you remember, it looked really neat but what if you added some more to it?

When Daddy caught you with the ink, he took it away from you and thought the wand you drew looked very nice. It was not a wand, it was a staff and you were not finished yet! You needed more ink and you needed it now! Daddy was very surprised when the ink returned to you. He kept saying how proud he was that you had managed accidental magic, which was silly because how was it an accident when you really wanted it? They got you a children's quill later that day.

Mommy and Daddy were talking about a new spell she was experimenting with one night. You just had to see what she was doing, it sounded really fun! The door to Mommy's secret room that you were never allowed in was locked though. That wasn't fair! You wanted in so you could see what Mommy was doing, maybe she would let you help! When the door swung open you were so excited and rushed in to see what she was doing, but Mommy was mad with you! Said you were interrupting something really important and it could have been bad. Later after you were punished (pretty lights hurt!) Daddy and Mommy sat down with you to explain and it sounded really bad. The painful lights could have gotten Mommy to if you had came in on the wrong time!
You were really good to Mommy after that, there was no way you would let the painful lights get her too! The sky was really interesting, you wondered if you could make that thing-y that let the big birds pull the little birds? But there were no big birds around to pull you, maybe Mommy could help? You were upset to found out that cool magic that made things fly was only allowed on brooms. That seemed really stupid and you wanted to see what was up there! Maybe there was a floating island up there and they had their own magic?
As you grew older, your ideas got more and more elaborate and Mommy had to talk you down from them saying they were too dangerous. You were not allowed to play with metal as that was sharp and dangerous. Wood could give you splinters apparently and they did not want you to choke yourself with cloth. You made lots of drawings about the staff you wanted to make though, but Mommy kept saying you were too little to make stuff, which was silly because you could make stuff just fine (you drew a picture of her when Daddy said it was an important day, she liked it).
