Chancellor Palpatine is dead. The Chancellor, a Sith Lord manipulating the Clone Wars from the shadows, was assassinated by the Jedi Order. Three Jedi Masters fell in the attempt, Master Windu himself nearly joining them were it not for the intervention of Anakin Skywalker. The young Jedi Knight threw his support behind the Jedi, despite all his worries. The Sith had caused far too much pain and suffering. Both to the Galaxy and to Skywalker.

Or so the story goes. None save Skywalker and Windu know the truth of what happened in the office on that dark night. Why the young man turned on what he saw as a father figure. All recordings were destroyed in the course of their battle. Only the word of the Jedi themselves remains.

And if the Jedi truly believed that it was as simple as removing the Chancellor, they were mistaken. Palpatine had created a system that would follow his will, and this system would not vanish with his death. Actors will step into the Chancellor's shoes and forge his Empire. The Jedi will not escape his malicious plans. The Republic will not survive.
