A cyborg in the Wasteland [Fallout] [Self-insert]

The one thing that surprises me is that there are any ICBMs left to launch in the first place, following a total global nuclear exchange.
Considering the sheer ammount of ordnance we find unlaunched and how much overstock exists IRL? I would wager these were the backups. We find ICBMs in fallout all the time, Freefall bombs meant for SACs fleet of Bombers and their Infantry Catapult-based derivatives even more so. The things prolly ran a seismic detector with a simple AI to retaliate. Dunno how they tracked the ICBM to its origin point or just assumed it was the US from the heading on radar installations(it was mentioned that nobody but the US had orbital infrastructure left), but that would be dubious too. My guess is one was going to DC, the other to Beijing. The ultimate 0 information low cost dead hand system.

Huh it would be kinda interesting to see what a fallout world in recovery looks like with both a major brotherhood and enclave element still in play, the enclave had its actual leadership blown up a long time ago so it's not like there following any kind of plan set up from before the bombs fell still.

So question once this reaches the end is it going to be a time skip as earth recovers till they find the mass effect relays or is she going to actually jump universes?

Thanks for the chapter.

Frankly I think the only reason Eden could launch was the fact he is a full-on AI and could choose his silos/could activate some automated maintenance, I bet a lot of US silos and systems were in the same or comparable state as the European revenge system. So calling it shit does undersell the fact they did launch on basically a moment´s notice while under nuclear attack and centuries past expiration. Eden could have been servicing the ICBMs for a while before launch.
Honestly wouldn't surprise me if the system shown in WV (76) was spread out across the country at areas. A fully automated silo, with robots, and a bunch of warheads and missile parts in storage. Which is why the same silos can launch multiple missiles, as one is launched away, the next is already being put together and moved into position. The only thing you need a human for is selecting a target and punching in launch codes, things Eden could easily do. With robotic maintenance crews and plenty of parts and fabrication for said robots and the missiles, I could see said system lasting for a long time.

I am happy Eden is gonna have his toys taken away. I am sad that VAX units get so unstable. We need an AGI player in this game. :V
Give Lily a year or two. She will be an UI and prolly mess around with making AGIs...or till we get over to ME, Geth will be very fun with Spira´s approach to settings, I expect ME to get fleshed out quite a bit and Geth Lore to be more prominent.

Can lily get the coms targeted in retaliation by broadcast some propaganda music?

I just had a thought of President Eden VS a Teddy Roosevelt from civ.

As far as I know this isn't a multicross (thank God I cannot read those).
As far as I am aware it will be. With FO coming to an end in some chapters from last Spira was talking about it and I recall ME being confirmed as the next destination for the hop. Specifically a Quarian Engineer as I recall(I argued for an Asari, maybe even a long pre-canon Asari, that could be a fun idea). I would have to look through the Thread, but it should be in-between chapters. I do like multi-cross personally, it keeps things interesting. FO is getting kinda stale and the only way for her to loose is a Deus Ex Machina or a faction getting some Grade A bullshit. Also Lily will have 0 metaknowledge on ME and her thoughts about and interactions with the Geth really interest me.

Read this story from beginning, over the last week, after stumbling across it - very impressed.

...

Bears, and woods... I had nothing further to do with that phrase, after someone, more than a decade back, substituted 'The Pope' for 'A Bear', and I walked away, bemused.

I wonder if Truck-kun has ever 'relocated' someone so they found themselves as some Geth explorer group (of human+ intellect), or something...

I'm pretty sure any further story in the Fallout universe won't be called 'Alice through the Nuke-ing Glass'...

And, when the SI leaves this universe, will Alice have the means to clone+load a backup?

(Sorry, not read all the comments through the story, so, I'm probably missing important context...)

Then that will be where me and this fic part ways. I can't read multicrosses they are too chaotic.

You have aircraft, so where nearby is the airport?
She paved a runway about 7km west of Megaton, including digging out an entire underground tunnel to reach it in secret (all 7 km.) It's basically automated, getting a supply of space probes to launch every day from the tunnel which she fabricates at home. The Brotherhood have seen her aircraft taking off and landing, but their radar cross section is quite small.

there have been entire movies accurately depicting Australia in fallout
Mad Max?
Since we find mini nukes in bathrooms, there are just too many nukes in the world. Also, if you expect to "win" a nuclear war, you would hold back a little to give you something to threaten the small guys after you "defeat" the enemy, otherwise they could wipe you out if you had no deterrence.
...hm. Maybe "war never changes" refers to peoples' thinking, rather than the reality. Since a nuclear war has no winner the same as in real life, but the fucking Enclave and their Chinese counterparts acted like someone could actually win a total war between them.

If you need a inspiration for gun action thing that actually good and realistic (you can notice those subtle body language, for example the way they tap on the shoulder to help give certain signal/notify the teammate to retreat or other here), I recommend this 3D animation that are 29 minutes long, it very good despite there are no voice over it (and importantly everyone are competent and no one have plot armor, show real struggle for survival and how the female 'mc' win in a hard but believable way despite almost die a few time). Hope this give you entertainment and inspiration for gun fight
" 【MMD】V.I.P" (29:10 long)

I admit I have never played, or even heard of, this game before. However, I will make an assumption: there is a third "caste" other than Workers or Engineers, even if they aren't playable. The person who decides which is which, the rulers of the various places. The ones that own the coal to be shoveled, that finance the labs to make a better drill.
There is actually a 3rd caste in game; Children. And you can also send them to the coal mines because holy crap is -60C weather without dedicated shelter utterly apocalyptic*.

The temperatures then continue to drop until it hits -110C in a ~45 day window, followed by a super-storm where the temperature free-falls to -150C with extreme winds. Before "warming" to -30C.

In-setting they don't really know why it is happening, but some of the hard-to-get lore throws around the super-volcano eruptions, the sun dimming and ice storms at the equator. Kinda sounds like a micro-blackhole came close enough to shift the entire planet's orbit to outside the goldilock zone.

*Frostpunk's 1880 British empire goes from a population of hundreds of millions to about a few thousand known survivors.

frostpunk really should have invested more in underground shelters, those would be much more habitable

Until your air vents freeze over and everyone suffocates. Or the furnace outputs too much carbon monoxide and everyone suffocates. Or your circulation fails and everyone suffocates.
Underground shelters aren't very good when you don't have HVAC. Y'know, on account of all the suffocation.
Also, frozen ground is difficult to dig.
