[2023-2024] Council Updates Thread

Redshirt's Notes: Week 57 (!?)
Here are my notes on tonight's meeting, a full month after this council session was meant to have come to a close:

Code:
content promotion meeting is very productive
rolls over into the general staff/council meeting
ford declares that there will be no meeting tonight
apparently squishy is away at a wedding
interesting timing, I'll be at a wedding tomorrow
the directors decree is ignored, the meeting happens anyway
no more directors, the meetings have outgrown the need for directors
foamy continues to be utterly swamped with IRL stuff, now with extra hurricane helene complications
nonetheless, talks with candidates way down the list to confirm their interest in the election in PMs continue
as such, still no confirmed news about when the council elections will finally happen, I'll keep y'all filled in should that change
more content promotion discussion regarding halloween events
meeting ends

At this point, I'd be happy to see a term of 36 councilors (or however many are still interested) - the "everyone is elected" simplifies the process greatly I would think :)

I will cast you into the Sun. I can barely keep count of 18 in Tribunals! I ONLY HAVE SO MANY FINGERS AND TOES!

I'll be honest, my first though upon reading the above was to wonder if you hadn't lost some along the way. You know, the lack of flesh making it easy for small toes go to missing and unnoticed...

It isn't like you couldn't split the council into two groups of 18ish and assign them different tribunals. The slander tribunals go to the first group and the libel tribunals go to the second....

And if you really wanted to make your job easier, you'd set the councilors up in groups of 9 so that you could run 4 tribunals at once. The SV justice system would be running a peak efficiency - no more waiting for a tribunal slot!

How do you get over 144?
Using your hands to make a ten digit binary (base-two) display. Treat each finger as a binary digit. Finger down is a zero, finger up is a one. A ten digit binary display maxes out at 1,111,111,111 which is 1,023 in decimal (base-ten).

You could go even higher with a ternary (base-three) display, treating a partially extended/folded finger as a one and a fully extended finger as a two, but IMO that's an express elevator to a cramp.

I honestly look forward to reading the the first tribunal that features 1023 councilors....

That would be something like 40 pages (if everyone votes, but everyone will vote right?) of just councilor posts. Should be an easy read and discuss...

My thanks to @Exponent , who has graciously volunteered to begin taking the minutes for the 2024-2025 Council Term. Here's a link to their thread, as this thread finally comes to a close.
