If all characters created in this vote will at least appear as NPCs, I might just make a competent, yet memetic Spanish Inquisition.

People's imagination is as beautiful as it is terrifying, isn't it?

Millions--no, billions of years of carbons recombining with each other and creating a a large but perfectly-shaped body of ideal mass within our solar system, in a distance that is just far enough from the sun to be able to support water that allowed it to sustain life, proceeded by millions upon millions of years of complex evolution and learning how to survive in incredibly harsh conditions, and we have reached this beautiful point where we write stories about Undead Mongol Hordes invading fuck-knows-where for fuck-knows-what-reason.People's imagination is as beautiful as it is terrifying, isn't it?
I did not expect this outcome.

lol and when you've changed your vote @StellarMonarch, someone votes for your plan![]()
Unless you're the Mongols!Undeads and necromancy is (figuratively and literally) a dead horse at this point tbh.
MONGOLS ARE ALWAYS THE EXCEPTION.
Thankfully, as Necromantic Steppe Nomads, we do have Dead Horses.Undeads and necromancy is (figuratively and literally) a dead horse at this point tbh.
Besides, playing as a Steppe Nomad should be a novel experience, certainly not something I've seen here on SV.
You have no idea how long I've been pushing for Steppe Nomads in SV Quests....Good point. Guess I'm shoving that into my list of projects.
If we're gonna take inspiration from RL History and Myth, why not go with Genghis Khan? Unlike Gilgamesh, he has a song dedicated to his greatness!
Also, Genghis-Chan jokes.

Honestly though, a cliche remains a cliche for a reason. They aren't bad because they're cliches, it's all about how you use them and I dare say Undead Mongols is a fresh enough twist considering how the Mongol Empire worked.
The topic of Sedentary vs Nomadic Civilizations and the culture clash that comes with it is a theme I really want explored. For example, it's interesting how very few works look at how their views on war differ, and how the Mongols' reputation came from Culture Clash on how war was waged in the Steppe.
To be fair, I was joking about the expy thing; it was more using a similar beginning rather than making the guy Terra's version of Gilgamesh. Buuuut it depends on players and how far will they want to go with protag becoming Not!Gil if it wins.Yes Yes I know what I said is a very ironic pun. But I'm tired of being a necromancer/zombie in this types of quests. Same with being a expy and builder/tinker.

Funnily enough, most of the Civ Quests I see don't go the Necromancy Route even if it's available to them. Rather, SV tends to gravitate towards Extremely Fighty or Extremely Techy. Two things that a Bandit PC isn't necessarily specced for. Stealth tends to be a criminal's best friend, with combat as their second.Yes Yes I know what I said is a very ironic pun. Likewise, while the starting idea is to make the Mongols proud, it's entirely possible for the players to diverge from that and be something else, like, settle down and be an actual Dynasty somewhere like the Yuan. Plenty of possibilities to take here, really. To be fair, I was joking about the expy thing; it was more using a similar beginning rather than making the guy Terra's version of Gilgamesh. Personally as much as I like the idea of a Mongol Undead Horde, I like it mostly as a joke. Different tastes I guess.
Need more slings, you know why.I don't like using expies either.
Anyways, I'm worldbuilding and taking a lot of notes before really starting on the history or the characters. What are you guys tired of seeing and what would you like to see more in fantasy quests?
Give me Cavalry and a aesthetic that compliments the themes of the story.I don't like using expies either.

Making swords THE ULTIMATE MELEE WEAPON USED BY EVERYONE is annoying and boring. Give me a spear or other polearm yo.
The biggest problems I have with some fantasy setting is... lack of originality, I guess. Only the classical fantasy races but with different names. Countries which are obviously Japan/Russia/Germany/Something obvious but with different name. Magic system which isn't unique in any way.

I just want to see Knights or Cataphracts making the earth quake beneath their hooves, or Mounted Skirmishers pepper the enemy constantly and dance circles around them. Everything I've seen so far is too infantry focused, it's like watching a WW1 Movie without Planes or Tanks. It just doesn't sit right with me.
Swords always have been more of a status symbol and sidearm than anything, however, it should be noted that your average peasant most likely has one depending on the culture of the place and how unsafe it is. Japan, for example, had to ban the peasantry from using swords despite everyone and their mother having one. The HRE also did the same, but then the peasants made the Messer and successfully loop-holed their way through the Law by claiming it was a particularly large knife.Nobility and the fortunate will have swords, but otherwise they'll be pretty rare in my setting.
