The Unforgiving Void (A Stellaris-type empire quest)

My real life has hit a bit of a rough patch so I will apologize for this delay. That being said some time has freed up so in the future updates will be more regular. That said,

The Undying: Turn 3
AN: HOLY HELL it has been a while. But I am back and I am ready to roll.

Turn Results
The exploration of systems has gone over very well. Though there are no habitable worlds of note in the area the exploration ships have encountered long range signals not dissimilar to our own superluminal transmissions. Decoding these could lead to first contact with another space-faring species. More people to try and troll if nothing else.

Of more interest is the discovery of a pre-spacefaring civilization. The orbit of Cralkenheim IV is scattered with the ruins of dozens of satellites, the surface is scarred with vast trenches gouged by titanic weapons. The nature of the battles held were unknown for days before the orbiting ship discovered something very poignant. Video feeds show a massive metal monstrosity battling with a gargantuan creature in what seems to be a brawl on a massive scale.

The mech seems to be vaguely humanoid in appearance, though hunched bearing heavy weapons. One arm bears a cannon of a scale unseen in anything but the early kinetic accelerator space trials of The Undying. The other holds a six fingered hand with an opposable thumb that the density scans report has a tube running to the palm with a heavy spike within.

The biological construct is long and weasel or lizard like. Six legs end in feet and seem to be dedicated to locomotion. A pair of whiplike tendrils end in vast scything claws that seem to be made of some material your scientists can't identify. They seem to have monomolecular edges and slice through the armor on the mech with little trouble.

For almost an hour this fight goes on as the two titans rampage through the ruins of a city. Finally the mech finishes its opponent with a spike up under the jaw. Within minutes hundreds of small creatures are swarming over the creature and appear to be butchering it.

Cralk civilization discovered!
Diplomatic options unlocked!

Research should be less exciting at least.

[ ] Physics Lab I
The first advances down the path of dedicated labs for the study of Physics, these labs contain potent and powerful experimental particle generators and other equipment of the sort.
Unlocks Building: Physics Lab 1
Research Needed: 36

[ ] Shroud Countermeasures
The advances in miniaturization of rocketry have allowed the deployment of small rocket pods all along the hull of the Wraith corvette. These rockets fire on intercept courses to other space borne missiles and rockets to knock them out of the void.
Unlocks Component: Shroud Micro-Missile System
Research Needed: 48

[ ] Orbital Research
The scientific advances made in deep space have long been known by the scientists of your world. These components for space stations allow vast research complexes to be housed in orbit.
Unlocks Component: Orbital Labs

.... Try so hard to troll Elechos and he manages to finish ahead of schedule anyway. Need to try harder in the future.

Keep Surveying?
[ ] Uh... Duh?
[ ] Nah. No need.

Cralk Diplomacy?
So it seems that the initial assessments of these creatures being less advanced may have come too soon. It would seem that they are being prevented from expanding to space by an active invasion of monstrous creatures. It's probable that they are potent warriors as a result and may make a decent smokescreen to hide The Undying empire. This would require uplifting them however.
[ ] Uplift them
[ ] Leave them alone
[ ] INVADE!

Unknown Signals
We could try and decipher these signals. Maybe with a little work it would lead to another spacefaring race.
Suspend current Society Research for a special project lasting one turn?
[ ] Yes
[ ] No

So we finished the +5% research speed tech putting two fields at +10% and engineering at 5% (-5% racial picks, +5% humanoid, +5% tech)

Physics Lab so we can build those to boost our research more, keep on surveying to find a new system to colonize. Leave them alone since right now we need to keep building ourselves up, we can go back later and uplift them. And take a turn to look into the signals, at least we know what is going on then and we can chose to meet or avoid whoever is sending them.

Missile Spam on Corvettes early in the game is really strong, so let's invest on some Point Defense in case our new neighbors turn hostile.

The Pacific Rim esque planet will make a good smoke screen for us, let's set that up first before making contact with anyone. Of course, that doesn't stop them from being the ones to make contact, but we'll hopefully have everything ready by then.

I feel I should note that should first contact with a space faring empire be made before the Cralk are uplifted there will be no way to hide yourselves.

[X] Yes

In stellaris almost every time I uplift a race they turn out to be a bunch of xenophobic little shits that try fucking with me.

Why are we trying to make contact without Uplifting so we have a smokescreen to hide our activities? The whole point of the Undying was to be a hidden Hive Mind spooking people from the shadows.

[X] Yes

We could uplift them and potentially add them to the hivemind, they could act as the seemingly public appearance of our empire, while leaving the real Undying in the shadows.

So guys... I'm a dumb and I just realized it as I was about to go start the write up. I never gave you the Governor's plan for the turn. I'll be editing it in but he plans on building a Colony Ship to go colonize Yomi VI. Specifically tile E4 to make the most out of the Adjacency Bonus for Engineering.

So I just ask for a simple
[ ] Yes Governor
[ ] No Governor
