[X] Plan Meditation and Marana
[X] You throw yourself in your sewing work, trying to grasp insights of your own rather than relying on Alphonse's teachings, a mentally intensive work that distracts you from your worries. [+300 xp to Marana]
[X] 225xp to Marana
[X] 475xp to Reiatsu Perception
You shut yourself away in your little room, surrounded by junk and tools. It had been such a nice gesture from Cirucci, an acknowledgement of your talents and your value, both as a servant and as a... person.
Now it's just somewhere to bury yourself, hiding away from her disappointment and exhausting your thoughts with work. Alphonse may have made your cloak and glove, but Cirucci's brooch was all you, from gathering the materials to developing the concept to completing the project. Your basic skills in Marana have saved her before. Maybe... maybe they can do so again.
So you experiment. Armoured petticoats, spirit-concealing jewellery, ornaments that absorb damage and shoes that open portals. Ideas for defense, for stealth, for retreat. Some of them half-work. Some of them fail quite badly. Some need greater reagants than you have. But with every spare moment you spend locked away in your workshop, every night you fall asleep at your desk, your projects become just a little more refined, your understanding a little more complete. Cirucci becomes a little more safe.
And every time you feel Cirucci's presence pass by your door, you tense with anticipation. She never knocks. You think she pauses. You know she hesitates, once or twice. Your spiritual senses, long allowed to atrophy in her care, sharpen slightly from the exercise of watching for her like a long-awaited messenger-bird.
The real breakthrough comes when you return from one of your trips to the living world, arms full of supplies and a head full of Esmerelda's stories. Even now she's a gossip. You glance over the constructive wreckage of your workspace, and in a fleeting moment compare it to the feel of Cirucci's soul, so bright and soaring. And you realize the problem.
Marana is more than just... making items that do useful things. It's creating something with the soul, for the soul. A work of heart as much as art. Fashion must suit its wearer. You've been designing things you'd use, dreaming up ways to help Cirucci survive. But she's never settled for surviving. She wants to live.

This actually brings our Marana up to rank 2, which gives us an extra slot to use another item on top of our cloak and glove, gives us a "free" new item, and allows us to make more powerful personal projects. Reiatsu Perception being unfavored means it's going to be a painful slog, but we've got to start somewhere if we don't want to be badly blindsided. I'll be putting whatever xp I can earn into it.
There's just 50xp left to fill out Medicine, so I honestly think that's a job for omakes when Omicron gets around to them.
