Witchy Woman
---------------------
In truth, Sung-sun's offer was too tempting not to take up. The Witch Ways? A type of magic you had never touched, different even from the Marana you learned from Alphonse? How could you resist? Learning was, really, one of your true, unvarnished pleasures in unlife. Learning Style, learning to sew, you were even making rapid progress with the medical tools you acquired from the infirmary after Esmerelda no longer had use for them...and each one had paid dividends, too. Everything had a use. Learning Sung-sun's craft seemed an obvious extension of that.
And it was affordable. The asking price was the sale of a soul, but you weren't a human, after all. You had a lot of souls; one would hardly be missed.
Things weren't turning out exactly like you expected, but you tried to keep an open mind.
The clothing, for instance. You were pretty sure that witches wore pointy hats and dramatic, tattered, shapeless black robes. They flew around on broomsticks. (You were really looking forward to that part, actually!)
Sung-Sun was dressed in black, but it was not a robe. And it was, well, extremely shaped. Sung-Sun shaped. You're not exactly sure what the logic was behind combining a skin-tight, leg-baring leotard with a ruffled shirt and a tailed jacket, although she pulled it off well enough...
"Don't think too hard about it," Emilou suggested. "You know that she was a giant snake as an adjuchas? The main reason she broke her mask was so she could have legs again. She just dresses like that to show 'em off."
"Pay no attention to my lovely, but dimwitted, assistant," Sung-sun ordered. "While it is true that most people take legs for granted, this is the traditional garb of the magician! Into the mysteries of whom you shall now be initiated!"
"I'm doing this because I lost a bet," Emilou clarified. She was wearing a bright red dress covered in sequins. "And if you tell anyone, I'll be forced to beat you up. Fair warning."
Sounds reasonable. You suppose, if it comes down to it, you'll just call in Mila Rose's offer and have her beat up Emilou for you, first.
"She wouldn't do that! You wouldn't do that, would you Mila?"
"I guess I'd have too, wouldn't I?" Mila called from her seat in the corner, where she seemed to find this tremendously amusing. "I mean, a promise is a promise, right?"
"Quiet in the audience! Magic requires the utmost concentration!" Sung-sun demanded, with a flourish of the stick she was holding. Besides the stick, her major accessories were a bow-tie, a tall, flat-topped hat, and a pair of very high heeled shoes. If she WAS dressing to make people aware she possessed legs, she was doing a good job of it. Actually, the whole outfit worked, in a showy way, although it might be improved. The cuffs on the jacket weren't quite the right length, and the waist could fit a little better. It wouldn't be hard really.
"You could do that? Alphonse won't work on anything besides uniforms for fraccion, I had to get this from...I mean, SILENCE! Behold, the power of MAGIC!"
With another showy flourish, Sung-sun produced some arcane implements and held them towards you. This was exciting.
"Now, take any card from the deck, without revealing it to me, memorize it, and then shuffle it back in..."
