Your name is Jacob Anderson and you are a normal seventeen-year-old young man born and raised in the city of Las Angeyoto. Except not really since you're actually a clone of the original Jacob made out of an otherworld energy that comes from some kind of eldritch abomination or something along those lines. Despite being something of a dark magical clone, you have all the memories and skills of the original though you lack the insane amount of physical, magical and spiritual power that Prime Jacob has.

This would normally matter very little since your lifespan is usually about a week long due to Prime Jacob needing to kill you every time to gain your memories. It's a pain but what can a clone do. Technically nothing since you're ultimately expendable. Still, you would rather live as long as possible and by the looks of your current situation, you might get that chance after all.

You last remember helping the living doll mage, Evetta, demonstrate some magical all seeing eye tool that she had been working on. Unfortunately for you, the moment it was activated, it exploded, created a black hole which you got sucked into and everything after that is kinda blurry and - OH GOD THE EYES! THE EYES THAT ARE EVERYWHERE! THAT WHICH HAS BEEN SEEN AND SEES CANNOT BE UN - and then you woke up in a dirty alley on top of a bed of garbage bags.

Gross.

In any case, as soon as you wake up, you get back on your feet and take stock of your current circumstances. While you can't exactly tell from where you are, the designs of the buildings that you are in between are not in the typical American-Japanese hybrid design that usually permeates the near entirety of Las Angeyoto. You're in an alleyway so your view isn't all that great so you could be wrong. Still, something just feels off about this place and it unsettles you.

Nearby are the twitching unconscious forms of about four Ebon Shadows, black vaguely humanoid midgets that usually act as cannon fodder for your Black Army, along with four of the new Shadow creatures that you've been tentatively been calling Denizens, six-inch high beings of shadows that are possibly smarter than the average shadow but definitely weaker.

Next to them is none other than Evetta's Ebon Star.

Sweet.

An Ebon Star was essentially the Black KIngdom's (AKA Jacob Prime's) attempt at replicating the awesome reality warping powers of the Wishing Stone that the Company creates from loot drops of the manifestation of Humanity's darkside to empower their magical girls. It was wholly successful and where a Wishing Stone could only empower one girl, an Ebon Star was capable of either gifting five girls with the standard Company Magical girl powerset or one girl with Ebon Magical Girl Powers.

It could also serve as a massive influx of Ebon Power as well.

Which reminds you that you need to fill up soon on Ebon Power or else you start breaking down. You've seen what happens when a clone breaks down from insufficient Ebon Power reserves. It ain't a pretty sight. You should be fine for a couple of days but after that you'll need to drain someone of their life energy

First thing's first though. You need to find out where the hell you are and luckily for you, there's an old newspaper that looks to be a couple days old at best.

Huh, The Bay Bulletin. You've never heard of this Brockton Bay place before. It's dated the 2nd of April, 2011 so you're not only in an alternate reality but you're also in the past as well.

Just fucking lovely.

Reading through the old newspaper, you learn several facts.

1. You are no longer in the same reality as your own.
2. Superheroes and Supervillains are apparently a proper thing here. There might have been some back in your original world but you aren't really sure.
3. Brockton Bay apparently has a high villain-to-hero ratio
4. Times have been hard on Brockton Bay, no thanks to the high supervillain population.
4. The only other alternate reality that this reality has had contact with does not appear to be your own.

Man, first time in another reality and you just happen to land in what looks to be a pretty shit place. You're probably gonna be stuck here for a long while as well.

Well, you've got a bunch of shadows here already and they multiply are a pretty fast rate so there's that at least.

What are you gonna do?

Well, of course you're gonna go find out more about the city and this world of good-to-honest superheroes and villains.

Well, before you do anything, you should figure out what to do with this Ebon Star. You know that if you could use it to infuse yourself with its immense amount of Ebon Power within it, you could break through the limits restraining your abilities without having to spend days draining dozens of people of their energy. On the other hand, you could make a squad of magical girls/knights that would be inclined to obey your commands thanks to the subtle suggestion magic interwoven into the thing. One Ebon Star equals to five Ebon Star Shards which equals to five somewhat loyal soldiers.

Or you could just dump a whole Ebon Star onto a girl and make them your absolutely loyal subordinate with lots of magical firepower.

Personal Power, magical girls slash knights minions, or super magical girl subordinate.

Decisions decisions.

What will you do with the Ebon Star?
[ ] Consume it for immediate unlocking of some of your Original's power.
[ ] Find some people who are in need of help and offer them power in exchange for helping you.
[ ] Find a girl and give her the whole thing to make her your completely loyal subordinate.
[ ] Hang on to it. Maybe you'll find some other use for it or something.
[ ] Write-in

Name: Jacob Anderson
Race: Ebon Clone
Current Status: On an alternate Earth

Ebon Lord Abilities and Traits
  • Combat Mastery - Rank 4
    • 0/3200 EP
    • Since as far as you can remember, you were always good at fighting. Violence just seemed to come naturally to you as breathing did for everyone else. Thanks to a combination of experience born from years of street fighting, your own natural talent and instincts, and the blessings of the Ebon Emperor, you are a monster in combat.
  • Heart of Ebon - Rank 2
    • 0/800 EP
    • Like all servants of Ebon, you have within you something that could be considered an organ which generates Ebon Power. At this level, you generate a steady amount of Ebon Power, allowing you to slowly stockpile Ebon Power for energy-intensive actions.
  • Soul Taker - Rank 2
    • 0/800 EP
    • An ability common to all who are of Ebon, you are able to drain a living being of the exotic energies that form their souls and convert them into Ebon Power. At this rank, you can slowly drain a person only of their life force.
  • Ebon Champion - Rank 1
    • 0/800 EP
    • As the Chosen Champion of the Ebon Emperor, you are empowered by the dark energies that permeate your existence. Despite being a clone of the original, you have unlocked a portion of your original strength. What you've unlocked has allowed you to enter the low-end scale of the superhuman realm. At the very least you can toss around a couple of tonnes with little problem. You also no longer have human vitals for enemies to target.
  • Ebon Conversion - Rank 1
    • 0/800 EP
    • One of the most versatile abilities that the Ebon Lord has is the power to transmute Ebon Power into other pre-existing matter and vice-versa. At this rank, you can turn Ebon Power into any simple mundane substance. You can also create Ebon Iron, a magical type of metal with various properties depending on how it is used.
  • Black Arsenal - Rank 2
    • 0/1600 EP
    • The result of experimenting with the powerset of a Company Magical Girl, the Ebon Lord has obtained the ability to record the blueprints of any conventional tool made for the sake of war and combat and construct perfect copies out of Ebon Power. At this rank, you are able to create any weapon with little cost. They will function just like their mundane counterparts. They can be infused with Ebon Power to greatly increase their lethality however.

[X] Hang on to it. Maybe you'll find some other use for it or something.

I have barely any clue about Worm. But I'm willing to wing it/make up plans as we go along.

Wow, what a tough choice

[ ] Consume it for immediate unlocking of some of your Original's power.

This is probably the smartest choice. With that power we can always make new minions later. But on the other hand that would just make this a clone of the other story.

[ ] Find some people who are in need of help and offer them power in exchange for helping you.

The option with more story potential in my mind. We can make a full on hero/villain team from the get go. They may be weaker and less loyal but more flexable. Plus normal magic girls are plenty strong already.

[ ] Find a girl and give her the whole thing to make her your completely loyal subordinate.

Makes someone else the hero of our story...

[ ] Hang on to it. Maybe you'll find some other use for it or something.

The wild card choice.

Hmmm. I think I will go with this one for now, just because it seems the most interesting:

[X] Find some people who are in need of help and offer them power in exchange for helping you.

Let's be the mysterious benefactor that goes around making shady deals with people.

I'm seriously hoping for people who aren't already capes, though. Even if they're original characters, that'd be better than just dumping some power onto characters we already know about.

[X] Find a girl and give her the whole thing to make her your completely loyal subordinate.

Having a Strong Boss here seems better than multiple Elite Mooks.

[X] Find a girl and give her the whole thing to make her your completely loyal subordinate.

Having a Strong Boss here seems better than multiple Elite Mooks.
On the other hand, elite mooks let us gather energy faster, which means upgrading ourself faster, which eventually turns into more Ebon stars.

Quirky Miniboss Squad is a bit more of a risk, but escalates much more quickly.

[X] Find a girl and give her the whole thing to make her your completely loyal subordinate.

Well I'm thinking power wise... a single girl is probably as strong (or stronger) than Clone!Jacob. Considering she's 5x~ more powerful than the average Company Girl, and Jacob/Ebon could wipe the floor with stuff they find hard.

On the other hand a group of five would have to be either a group of friends (better chance to work together) or just a bunch of different people who would then need to learn to work together. Also the more people, the more likely they'll slip-up or something happens.

Giving out powers with a side effect of brainwashing isn't exactly new to Worm afterall. Also I figure it's probably better to get one Ebon MG first then maybe get a group of them later so our Elite-MG can show them the ropes and be a role model for them.

[X] Find a girl and give her the whole thing to make her your completely loyal subordinate.
As long as the clone remembers to explain about the star before the girl make a wish.

[X] Find a girl and give her the whole thing to make her your completely loyal subordinate.

It said that gathering ebon energy was enough to restore our abilities given time and if there's one thing worm has it's a large amount of people undeserving of life. The star is a unique resource. it's not something we can easily get another of therefore I would prefer to use it to get a magical girl.

[X] Find a girl and give her the whole thing to make her your completely loyal subordinate.

We can make shadow mooks for mooks.

The way I see it is, this is the first choice in the quest so it's not going to be dangerous. All of these choices are equally viable.

The only question is what tone do we want this quest to take?

I'm more interested in the possibility of a quirky group, rather than a single powerhouse. Besides we already made a super magical girl in the other quest. Let's see what happens when we make a group instead.

Be different!

[X] Consume it for immediate unlocking of some of your Original's power.

We can even defend ourself right now, we need the power boost from the ebon star

[X] Find a girl and give her the whole thing to make her your completely loyal subordinate.

We don't need to be on the front lines. Heck our power set seems to work better at the moment with less attention, we could in theory start leveling up simply by doing light drains on people passing by. Having a trump card would be very useful sense we are a little before the Lung fight and everything gets interesting after that.

The possibility for Magical Girl Dinah could be a good laugh. Not that I expect that to happen.

[X] Find a girl and give her the whole thing to make her your completely loyal

Bonus points if you can manage to nab a parahuman and get them to fix their power-induced trauma with this.

[X] Consume it for immediate unlocking of some of your Original's power.
Considering this is Worm we're talking about I doubt we'll be able to avoid combat.

oh speaking of the original, are these two quests still linked at all or are they now only separate quests in the same world.
