[x] Pout adorably. Alright then, I get it, you don't want to let the power of friendship flow through you. You're missing out! I make a great friend to people (who don't endanger my city's population or infrastructure), I think. If you change your minds, just contact me and we can meet up over ice cream or something like reasonable superpowered teenage girls.
-[x] Oh, and? I'll be keeping an eye on my border all along Toyko. Please don't test me, alright? That won't be fun for anyone.
--[x] Ask Maiko if you're forgetting anything important, if not, go look for the calligraphy girl. Have Minami switch her focus to monitoring the group until you either get close to where calligraphy girl is or they get far enough from your border, for now.

A lot of scattered votes, right now. Still need to consolidate.

[x] Okay, this conversation's getting real boring. I feel like I'm the only one contributing! So when you guys feel like holding up your end of a conversation and, like, actually introducing yourselves and all, brainmail me and we'll talk, 'kay? Byyyye!
    - [x] Go look for the calligraphy girl
-- [x] Keep searching until you find her or need to head home
[X] Invite further negotiations at a later time but mostly thank them for their time and move on.
-[X] Ask for Maiko's read on the situation
-[x] Send Maiko and/or Minami off to search for calligraphy girl while you negotiate
-[X] "okay look, I actually was trying to do something before I got sidetracked here so I'll make this short: I'll leave you my contact information and with the promise that I will not interfere with your business if you don't interfere in mine."
-[X] "If you want to set up a more formal arrangement later we can do that. I'd honestly prefer it, but I won't force the issue"
[X] QBmail Chizuka: "Listen, you've seen that I can be reasonable. If you or your team get in over your heads, contact me and I'll be at least as reasonable with them as I was with you."
[x] Continue attempts to negotiate with the Nerima girls in hopes of establishing some sort of agreement.
-[x] Send Maiko and/or Minami off to search for calligraphy girl while you negotiate
-[x] Chizuka said they were worried about being attacked, offer to help with that?
--[x] They probably don't trust you to watch their backs, or enter each other's territory, so set up communications, exchange phone numbers so you can talk without brainmail range, arrange to have free passage if they are passing through your territory on civilian business, prior warning/permission if you are passing through theirs on magical business and offer to share information on regional problems.
---[x] Would be nice to reciprocate fully, but not strictly necessary.
[x] Continue attempts to negotiate with the Nerima girls in hopes of establishing some sort of agreement.
    - [x] Write-in Yuiplomacy: You guys wanna go get some ice cream? My treat.
    - [x] (In case of a 'no'): Look, it is unlikely for a teenage girl not to like ice cream, and it's completely impossible not to like me, so I'm not sure what's going on here.
    - [x] I'm getting the sense that you guys are not having a super easy time of things. And I get that, everybody has problems right? You know, invisible invaders or exploding buildings or whatever. But we can talk things out instead of trying to murder each other!
    - [x] So here's what I'm offering: you guys ever need a place to crash? You can come talk to me. I mean, if somebody comes in and attacks one of my girls I will totally beat them up and stick their not-corpse in my basement. But polite girls who aren't being mean are always welcome, at least temporarily! So don't be a stranger, okay?

-[X] "that said, I'm willing to help you, no strings attached, all you have to do is ask"
    - [x] Be a little more aggressive with the "too powerful for them to ignore" angle
-[x] Send Maiko and/or Minami off to search for calligraphy girl while you negotiate

Hmm. I feel like trying something different.

[X] Put your game face on.
-[X] It looks like you don't deal in 'cute and adorable', so I'm going to try to speak in your language for a moment.
--[X] I have it on good authority that Chizuka is an excellent teammate with a poorly chosen team. If you give me a reason to believe you are mistreating her, I will be very cross.
---[X] Now here's the carrot; there is room in my city. You don't need to make any 'regrettable' choices. If plentiful hunting and the protection of yours truly is something you want, we can come to an easy understanding. Talk to me tomorrow. Or don't, but I'll be keeping an eye out all the same.
----[X] Back to friendly: Well, I've got to go, but it was nice meeting you all! Bye for now!
-[X] To Minami: I've got to finish up here, but I'll be with you in a few. Do what you can until I get there.

---[X] Search for a reasonable amount of time. If you can't find her within a half hour, head off to do other things.

Edit: this is intended to be more along the lines of suggestions or guidelines rather than direct quotes. Echo should feel free to modify as necessary.

By the way, since nobody answered you @kinigget we do have a team. Just the one.

'Red team' is a running joke formed by acknowledging several users who seem to be affiliated with the color red. Myself, @Crimson Doom and @Redshirt Army are all obvious candidates.

Less obvious are @Muramasa, who is Kyoko, who is seen as the 'red' girl in PMMM (and this is pmmm quest), and @Jiven who is Ruby, who is seen as the red girl (also named red) from RWBY. This is not a RWBY quest, but huntsmen are basically magical girls right? Right. (Does UbeOne qualify now?)

Now, as is human nature, people see a group and want to join it. However, we wouldn't be an exclusive cool-kids-club if we didn't snootily invent reasons to reject them.

Tbh it was fun at first but now i kinda feel like an a-hole... Not that I'll stop. R team fo lyfe!

Hm, something different indeed. Straight, to the point, and more than a little nosy, but in a good way.

I feel like this might make Chizuka a target of animosity in her team, as it can be implied that Chizuka was the one who told us.

IIRC we concluded that Chizuka's team not-so-subtly "suggested" that she go commit suicide to spare the grief seeds? I definitely want to get her to defect, with or without the rest of her team.

Not 'commit suicide' per se*, but our understanding is that she was encouraged to 'earn her keep' and make herself useful in a very reckless fashion. The teammates told her it wasn't her fault, but didn't act consistently with the message, resulting in a guilt trip.

*They are on a verge of a takeover. Chizuka suiciding herself would doom the rest of the team. We should not assume them to be stupid.

The other girl does not seem to be happy about it, and our accusation has struck a nerve. She possibly herself believes Chizuka 'eats' too much, and that she needs to work harder for it since earnings have become scarce... but can't quite tell her off because if the team disperses right now, they will all be driven out and killed. It does not change that they aren't a very good/supportive team, but their choices are, again, limited.

Yet another case of 'no one's really at fault and everyone's screwed'.

fair point

how about adding something like this at the end:

"of course, I reserve the right to deny a request if I think you're trying to use me. I haven't been doing this long, but I've already seen how the...less scrupulous of us operate. I will help you solve internal problems or defend your territory. I will not be used as a weapon"

better?

Yes, much better. This seems to have influenced Genial Precis's current vote, which is basically everything I think we can reasonably get from this conversation.

[X] Genial Precis

I mean, redzonejoe's vote is better than mine was, but this:

I feel like this might make Chizuka a target of animosity in her team, as it can be implied that Chizuka was the one who told us.

That idea worries me.

That's true, so Chizuka is already going to be the target of some enmity for drawing the attention of us and from her own decisions.

Based on the update, the girls seem very closed off and while they seem to understand that Yui is the one with power here, they don't seem to be taking her seriously at all, and have all but said that they have no intention of being friendly. e: That and it sounds like they really don't want us digging around in their dirty laundry.

I think @redzonejoe has the right idea with switching tracks here, but I'd like to mention more than just mistreating Chizuka would get us angry and that's why they should join us. Something that implies that we are fully intent in keeping our territory safe.

I am not worried about this, or at least about the aspect MobiusC is talking about here. Thing is, they know Chizuka inside out - or at least the leader does, - enough so to emotionally manipulate her while considering her behavior predictable. And Chizuka is oblivious to it - if she knew, she wouldn't feel as guilty as she does. So they should know the idea of Chizuka telling us about being mistreated by her team is pretty much impossible. If anything, she thinks they have been too kind to her, and wants to do something to pay back the debt, that was the whole basis behind the manipulation.

Then again, obviously they don't know everything about her, because the first thing they thought was that Chizuka made them share the blame for her actions.

It may raise tensions in the team because it is an outsider bringing up a sore point, and nobody likes that (and since they can't take it on the outsider, they may turn to the one who brought her), but I am not sure it is necessarily worse than just leaving them to sort it out between themselves. The fact is that these two have nearly had their teammate killed after sending her alone to possibly kill someone and take their stuff while maintaining full deniability.

We could ignore this as it is pretty much not our business, but I get the impression that most of us would prefer not to. Then what should be done about this?

Edit:

Yeah. Not for telling us something, but for getting us involved and having us poke around their dirty laundry.

I'm open to suggestions and modifications. Imply we have mental magic? Alter the wording? Sky's the limit.

Though if they do transfer animosity, that gives us an excuse to swoop in and save kidnap save her.

Suggestions welcome for this too

@Redshirt Army, your vote has a typo. "Tokyo", not "Toyko".

I'm open to suggestions and modifications. Imply we have mental magic? Alter the wording? Sky's the limit.

Maiko is likely to have got a look at their Soul Gems by now. Ask her for random private information, then drop it off, explicitly as the proof that it wasn't Chizuka who told us. But don't mention their imminent takeover as part of it.
(If Maiko isn't positioned yet, stall for time until she is.)
Afterwards, privately tell Chizuka that she can contact us in emergency as per @Genial Precis's vote.

That would make us the reasonable one, concerned for her more than her teammates are, concerned in spite of her teammates. When/if they would have problems, she would naturally see us as a solution and them as the obstacles.
Alienate her from her teammates, bring her closer to us. Maximum manipulation!

I mean, I'm happy with Precis's vote as-is, but I just wanted to explain why I'm not jumping on the Red Team bandwagon this time around.

I was under the impression that Maiko was off with Minami looking for C. If she is, do we want to pull her away from that?

Edit: She was following us, confirmed. Alright let's see what I can do...

Brb rereading the update to check. Either way I've got some idea of how to modify the vote using this suggestion, so thanks.

That's fine. I'm not fishing for votes, I'm just trying to make my plan as good as it can be! Your input is appreciated as much as, or even more than a vote would be.

Nope, they act as backup.

I had something like this in mind:

[ ] To Minami: "Try to remember where roughly she disappeared, but don't leave the area."
[ ] Ask Maiko if she can see Chizuka's teammates' Soul Gems.
-[ ] If yes, what private information can she provide? Not too sensetive, but enough to convince them that you have some kind of information-gathering ability.
-[ ] If no, she should get closer as soon as possible.
[ ] Put your game face on.
-[ ] "It looks like you don't deal in 'cute and adorable', so I'm going to try to speak in your language for a moment."
-[ ] "I have it on good authority that Chizuka is an excellent teammate with a poorly chosen team. If you give me a reason to believe you are mistreating her, I will be very cross."
-[ ] "No, it wasn't Chizuka who told me." List private information provided by Maiko. Don't mention their crisis.
-[ ] "Now here's the carrot; there is room in my city. You don't need to make any 'regrettable' choices. If plentiful hunting and the protection of yours truly is something you want, we can come to an easy understanding. Talk to me tomorrow. Or don't, but I'll be keeping an eye out all the same."
-[ ] Back to friendly: "Well, I've got to go, but it was nice meeting you all! Bye for now!"
-[ ] Contact Chizuka by telepathy. "Listen, you've seen that I can be reasonable. If you or your team get in over your heads, contact me. I can help."
[ ] (After the conversation) Go look for the calligraphy girl.
-[ ] Search for a reasonable amount of time. If you can't find her within a half hour, head off to do other things.

[] Put your game face on.
-[] It looks like you don't deal in 'cute and adorable', so I'm going to try to speak in your language for a moment.
--[] Telepathy Maiko for information on the girl we're talking to. We want to pass ourselves off as knowing this stuff with our own wish magic.
---[] I have it on good authority *tapping on gem* that Chizuka is an excellent teammate with a poorly chosen team. If you give me a reason to believe you are mistreating her, *insert name here* I will be very cross.
----[] Now here's the carrot; there is room in my city. You don't need to make any 'regrettable' choices. If plentiful hunting and the protection of yours truly is something you want, we can come to an easy understanding. Talk to me tomorrow. Or don't, but I'll be keeping an eye out all the same.
-----[] Bring up whatever other information Maiko gives us as necessary to sell the act.
------[] Back to friendly: Well, I've got to go, but it was nice meeting you all! Bye for now!

-[] To Minami: I've got to finish up here, but I'll be with you in a few. Do what you can until I get there.
--[] (After conversation) Go look for the calligraphy girl
---[] Search for a reasonable amount of time. If you can't find her within a half hour, head off to do other things.

Changes in red, not yet implemented in official vote. Thoughts?
