Full Contact Magic [Worm/Nanoha]

Shouldn't Excalibur just be able to use our reserves to teleport anyway? Even Intelligent Devices do similar things, see Raging Raising Heart and Nanoha at the beginning where Heart was doing as close to everything for the spell calculations as is possible. And probably more than was possible.

Unless that's one of the damaged sections, a Unison Device of all things not being able to tap into our reserves is a bit... well, stretching it.

[x] Yes, you go home and tell your dad everything.

[x] Protection spells
[x] Shooting Spells

A minor cape that cannot pass for a "normal human" can have many problems, at least having someone you trust to help you should be logical ...

Excalibur can use your reserves to cast spells - that's how you're able fly, for example. There's a slight "lag" induced by it, but that's not normally an issue if the Lord isn't a complete scrub. Even then, it's only an issue for extremely sensitive spells like teleportation. Excalibur is doing similar amounts of work on spell calculations as Raising Heart was at the start of the series, if not more.

[x] No, you don't.

Danny Hebert is neglectful at best. I have no inclination to care about him or give him a chance even.

Hmm... I have a bit of a plan for keeping Magic secret, while telling Danny about our powers. The basic idea is to keep Excalibur secret or make it out to be a Master power construct, while having the Magic be a complex power that allows for precise energy shaping with the visual spell circles being part of the energy-focusing mechanism. Basically, describe the Magic in Parahuman terms as much as possible. The thing is that Taylor doesn't know enough about magic to make it work out effectively. So, my vote is as follows:

[x] No, you don't

[x] Magic theory
-[x] Focusing on the nature of magic itself, the groundwork of how it functions, rather than spell-creation theory.

Edit: This way, we start on the path to being able to make our own spells and possibly get started on learning how to teach magic and create Devices, basically working on learning the foundation of magic-as-science that Nanoha's setting has so that we can get to the point of having a decent shot at dealing with Scion without going full Kephri.

Alternatively, it's starting the groundwork for staying sane through going full Kephri, allowing us to unleash magic able to let us actually fight Scion directly, with magic-user backup for the Kephri people control to use for combination spells.

Since teleporting is a bad idea, I'll revert back to the original plan as far as doing things goes.

So, just to make sure, Myrrdin's sigil isn't this or this? Why contacting Myrrdin is good / important? He seems to be unique. So, if we show up with magic too, we potentially drastically upgrade his capabilities, while our claims get more credit and we get more support.

Depending on which fandoms Tekomandor dabbles in, it could be one of these (all from Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem). I know from a previous quest that our QM knows Warhammer, so if we're really unlucky...

The last two links are broken, and I think that the elder sign in one way or another seems more fitting concerning "strange geometry" and the nature of Entities (Myrrdin might well be "tinker: magic" without anyone knowing about it). Also, it might lead to a collaborative project like this. I mean, Al Azif is pretty much a unison device.

Here's one with all the Eternal Darkness runes. The four at the top match each of that setting's elder gods... I've suspected for a while that their color scheme being identical to that of the Ruinous Powers was not a coincidence, especially when you take into account the events of that game.

What exactly are people looking to achieve when they say "spell math"? Because it's been awhile, but my understanding of Nanoha magic is that the styles are analogous to programming languages, and Excalibur is more than capable of doing the necessary calculations to cast any spell Taylor learns. If it is to teach others how to use magic... well Reinforce in the second movie used a spell to project a image of herself to talks with others while in Unison with Hayate, and Excalibur has already made up one spell on the spot.

Actually Taylor should make sure to check with Excalibur that any illusion spell is viable to maintain over the needed period of time with her current linker core stat before actually training with it.

Edit
I'm just mentioning this because I vaguely recall the illusion spells shown in series being mana intensive to maintain.

Taylor saw the light of the teleport fade, leaving her in a deserted back alley near a local library. Her armour dissolved into silver light, leaving her wearing clothes sufficient to not make a passerby look at her twice. It was a cold day, and so Taylor's scarf, hoodie, and gloves would not be particuarly suspicious. She kept the hood up, and looked down.

Well, it's good to know my worries about incurring unwanted attention are unwarranted as of yet. It would be prudent to invest in further ways to maintain this.

Going home meant letting her dad know about her condition, it meant having to deal with the fact that her dad would make her be a Ward. It meant dealing with the fact that she had a bunch of extra dimensional - or possibly alien - tinkertech that she might not be able to pass of as being part of her power.

Is that Taylor assuming that Danny is going to shoehorn her into the Wards?

I'm not really part of the Danny-hating crowd, but I don't think joining the Wards would be beneficial for Taylor. At least not yet. As long as Taylor can continue researching and remain safe without attracting too much attention, the Wards would provide little benefit, and instead would start the standard Wards plot line.

If it's really the case that going home is an auto Wards scenario, then I'm no longer in favor of it.

But still, Taylor going missing is going to cause issues.

This is something we should be learning, but not in the short-term. I'd think that learning the fundamentals of magic would take at least months of effort. On the other hand, learning spells is like memorizing formulas and cheating with a supercomputer. Taylor may not be be casting such spells very efficiently or to their full potential, but at least she'll be able to cast most of them.

I feel like getting Danny on-side for being an independent would be a nice touch, as it generally doesn't happen in most fics nor quests. It seems like even when he's supportive, he generally pushes the wards, for... some reason, despite him having been married to a (presumably) former (semi)violent political activist, and being himself a jaded union man who is more or less consistently at loggerheads with the local government.

That said, I'm not sure how to get his backing for that in this quest. For right now I think the best option is to take a day and try to buff illusion magic to provide a quick and dirty way to hide the appearance change, and then go back and be a lovely charming winsome daughter who surely isn't trying to get something from Daddy...

Honestly, Danny doesn't get a lot of character development, but yeah- The way he get treated in fanon is generally waaay out of line of what you'd expect given what we know of him.
