Also... we kind of broke Orihime. She never got attacked by a hollow so she didn't get super special awesome powers.

Or if we really want to go down the rabbit hole. Well, Did Karin ever really have a real body? After all, a Gigai is for Shinigami to recover in, and we have a Zanpakuto that we really shouldn't have.

Maybe JarHead Arrancar isn't a thing here and Kaien was used to make the VastoLorde that ended up inside of Masaki?

No. The Plot Rock was hidden in Rukia's soul and the Gigai was turning her human. It would have been impossible to find if the process completed. The Sokyoku was Aizen's plot, as it was one of the ways by which the plot rock could be removed from Rukia.
The Sokyoku would have obliterated Rukia's soul completely, that's its reason to be, Why would the PlotRock remain?

While I'm pleased to see the speculation and I won't be confirming or denying anything in here, I will say that in canon the Hogyoku was explicitly not going to be destroyed by the Sokyoku, just to head that off. That's not a ruling of mine, either - that's Kubo. Not saying if that'll be the case here or not, but in canon that was the case.

This was explicitly why Aizen set up Rukia's execution.

Quote directly from the Wiki

Sometime after his exile, Urahara sought a means to destroy the Hōgyoku, but to no avail. Out of desperation, he deactivated it and placed it deep within the soul of a Shinigami, Rukia Kuchiki, without her knowledge. By giving her a special Gigai, which would eventually turn her soul into that of an ordinary Human permanently, he hoped it would hide the Hōgyoku forever.[4] His plan failed when Sōsuke Aizen betrayed Soul Society to retrieve it — unbeknownst to Urahara, Aizen was the one who had deployed Rukia to the Human World in the first place. Aizen had delved further into Urahara's research, discovering two ways to extract an object from a soul: the first was to evaporate the soul with an immense amount of heat, which could be accomplished with an instrument such as the Sōkyoku.[5]

The plotrock is indestructible. It's why Urahara went to such convoluted plans to get it in a shinigami's soul, turn them into a human with his special gigai, and then they die (he kills them?), are reincarnated and it is utterly undetectable and could be in any soul born after that point.

[X] Phone Ichigo to get him to come to the Hollows' location in his human body, Rukia will come with you to assist against the Hollows.

Might as well befriend Rukia before we accidentally her heart.

So what? One body is just as good as another.

Figured that out pretty fast, assumed everyone else did too.

Unless that new body happens to have a plot rock imbeded in it...
Oh, ffs... I had figured he out us in a gigai, but this possibility totally slipped my mind.

Also... we kind of broke Orihime. She never got attacked by a hollow so she didn't get super special awesome powers.
Nah, she didn't get them from Acidwire, she got them from that one weird Hollow that mind controls people. That can still happen.

This is Pre-EverythingIsNonsence, so that doesn't work.
What are you talking about, it's fucking Kubo, everything is always nonsense.

(Double posting to include a ping)
@Stormwhite can we include a write-in to berate Rukia for apparently not giving Ichigo any way to go soul reaper on his own? :V

[X] Send Rukia to the Kurosaki household to pick up Ichigo, then have them come to assist you, you'll hold off the Hollows yourself.

Guys. Ichigo will move MUCH faster in his spiritual body than his human one. If we want him there sooner, send Rukia for him.

The question is between 1. slow time to contact (send Rukia to poke him out of his body) but fast travel after 2. fast contact (he starts leaving for the battle sooner) but faster travel.

So will the faster rate of travel manage to catch up and beat the longer travel time?

The Karin/Gigai thing is something I'd been wondering really, mainly in the sense of how did Urahara repair a dead body and whats it say about the difference between one and a gigai anyways.

But more than that, something I've been worrying about and wonder if theres any hints for (what two hollows are these? Random/new or not?) , is the question... What happens to events we didn't vote to go participate in? Do they just happen later or offscreen as they would've without Karin, or do they go unsolved....

Chad would've probably tried to help the parakeet boy anyways (if he could see him), and Orihime likely still had to deal with her dead brother turning Hollow on her...

*panic ensues*

The way I see it Karin is probably Kaien's reincarnation via White related shenanigans. Kaien has his soul devoured by the possession hollow and it is in turn absorbed into or turned into White, which is sealed into Misaki. From there his soul could potentially move into Karin to be reborn as her.

...Now I'm curious if Karin has the robes of a member of the 13th division. Even if it isn't visible from the outside Gotei 13 shinigami have the symbol of their division sown into the insides of their robes. That'd really mess with Rukia.

[X] Phone Ichigo to get him to come to the Hollows' location in his human body, Rukia will come with you to assist against the Hollows.

Even if it takes Ichigo longer to get there it should be safer for Karin if she has someone backing her up during that time. Ichigo wouldn't be particularly happy with Rukia leaving his sister to fight two hollows by herself either.

If we send Rukia to get Ichigo then why don't we have her call him on the way? That way they can meet up sooner and half the time. Have them pick a spot that is on the way to Urahara's from Ichigo's house and they meet there. That way Rukia does not have to run all the way to Ichigo's house and he gets to us faster.

*looks at thread*

Okay, so I know this is kind of inimical to SV, but can you stop trying to have your cake and eat it? :V

Narrative quest, not a mechanical one. Combat tactics excepted, there is never an 'optimal' choice, really (and even then, there's still not exactly an optimal one, I'll go into more detail with that later). Write-ins in general have to change the narrative in some way for me to accept them, not simply be an attempted improvement on one of my options. See the: Tell the entire family option earlier in the quest for a really good write-in that's had a lot of impact on the story and has made it different from what the other options would have offered.

There will be votes where write-ins are very impactful, but I will specify 'write-in' for those, usually in a subvote option.

I'm aware this hasn't been a huge issue yet, but I wanted to make it clear early on the quest.

It's "Ichigo gets there later, but acquire Rukia as a combat ally" or "Ichigo gets there sooner, but you're alone against two Hollows". You have my word that this is the case and that Rukia is a valuable enough combat asset that there isn't an optimal choice here.

On a different note, yes you guys have already derailed parts of canon (quite heavily, in at least one case) and I'm really enjoying watching you guys speculate on some of the background. I've put a decent amount of effort into making it interesting, so it's nice to see people take stabs at what they think might be the answer (I won't say how close you are though, sorry!).

Carry on!

I doubt he knows shunpo at this point.

Honestly, I just want Rukia there so she can freak out when Karin uses her Shikai. :V

You trying to tell me Urahara put the hogyoku in our gigai instead of Rukia's? Or that Isshin is going to get involved like in We stand in Awe?
