Redshift (OTL/The Long March worldmerge)

The right is going to win very big in 2016 (more so than IRL) with the new red scare both causing a general upswing on the right and the democrats going full purge on progressive voices. And that's before anyone on the progressive side just flees the world all together. Even people that aren't communists, like I could see big dumb, stupid idiot Draco from 2016 fleeing to the Pacific Democratic Imperial State.

Aren't they normal* or did I miss something, because I thought they were capitalist in name only to be quirky
Their main conflict with Comintern are the many war criminals and tyrants they harbor because they obtain their system by reform. There probably mass rapist, genocidaire, and slavers that Comintern wanted to hang walking free in PIDS.

This is interesting but I hate the Long March flags like they ignore the basic rule of keep your flag simple and discernable at a distance and keep it limited to 1-3 colors. They are all terrible.

Also sidenote if the Comintern actual achieves total victory in the quest will they implement nuclear cargo ships? That has been my most frustrating complaint with the current Westphalian national sovereignty which is essentially global anarchy with how shipping can be made even more green and mefficient.

Well Flag Aesthetics are more of a subjective thing and I think part of the point of them looking like that is to flout the rules of vexillology.

I don't think the Comintern will implement Nuclear Cargo Ships. If only because that sounds like a nightmare to make, crew, maintain, and to clean-up if something goes wrong. Not to mention each of them needing nuclear technicians to perform maintenance and repairs means it would be quite expensive in terms of inputs required. I do grant that the Nuclear Core likely wouldn't be a problem because SISO's standardization means it wouldn't be the nightmare of cost overruns that is the OTL Nuclear Industry, due to every part of the reactor being standardized.

They can in the main quest-line and have already done so in the Redshift timeline.

Ok this might have been explained in the update and I'm too dumb to understand but how does the 'glide' work? Are there specific locations like portal gate equivalents or can people crossover anywhere.

As I understand it, when you cross a boundary or generally travel in an area that meets the conditions you will be transported to the other world. The qualifications for something to be able to transport you to the opposite world are either travel in unclaimed lands and waters or between nations and areas on both sides of the divide that are ideologically aligned.

Basically if you're somewhere that's either unclaimed on both sides,(ie international waters) or closely aligned (ie Cuba) you can Do A Thing that crosses you over. Not explained and not really relevant what the thing is, but that's the mechanic

I mean a lot of those disadvantages are either over blown or don't really matter in a communist society. Having more nuclear technicians is a benefit in and of itself, and the beautiful thing about a cargoship is that you can have the reactor sink itself as a failsafe because water is actually really good at blocking radiation

Despite this seeming common ground, the stark differences between both worlds was immediately apparent from just the physical appearances of the rulers and delegates present, with the sensible and spartan business suits of the capitalist world worn by mainly old men contrasting with the outre, dandyish and peculiar attires of their far more youthful Comintern counterparts, a disparity perfectly encapsulated by the most powerful figures on both sides.
Honestly I know there's many other bigger deals of contrast, but I love this point. I hate that the suit is so standardized no matter where you are in the world. It looks terrible no matter how custom or expensive the person can afford it, it quite frankly isn't sensible to me given I like looser clothing to keep cool and even the whole diatribe that suit lovers give of "oh you just have to have it custom tailored" doesn't change the fact that being cool isn't really a design feature of it, and it is amazingly drab no matter what shade on the black-white scale you go on (since things like blue, red, or purple suits are outside the standard and more of a party thing than formal thing).

Legitimately I've looked at examples of formal clothing from different cultures before the British popularized the suit and its many variants and pretty much all of them are superior (especially in Africa and Central Asia). They are so expressive with so many different possible colors without having to be gaudy, they actually work for the environments they are native to compared to the suit which in a temperate climate is too hot and in a cold climate is too cold, and they can actually have symbolism for the person wearing it or event it is worn for. I would love to wear some of the stuff TLM timeline has popularized given finding your own cultural identity (including personal fashion) is a big thing in it. It's infinitely better than the suit.

Ignoring the standard rules of flagmaking in favor of making new ones is explicitly the in-universe point, yes.

Unrelated but out of curiosity I want to ask readers which of the regions they would like to live in the most vs the one they woul hate living in the most (excluding Freedonia).
Alexandria looks very interesting to live in, and from another perspective so does Pan-Europa. I don't think I would hate living in the PDIS, more likely to just be 'meh' comparatively. Living in now-communist former 'core areas' of the CPS and CDN though gives off bad vibes for some reason, so let's go with not wanting to live in those.

I guess that they can do that but the rules are there for a reason it's not just because some fascist or capitalist or communist want all flags to look the same. Flags must be simple so they can be easily seen from kilometers away and so that children can easily draw them, imagine getting a 4 year old to draw a redshift flag they will lose interest half a second later

I would really like to see otl'ers view on comintern world for example a dab master like american journal headlines about comintern or obama's or enen more shady dudes like tucker carlson, glenn beck(was it?) shapiro or dictators like putin and khamenei and etc,..... quotes on comintern world
Ya know
I Like to get frustrated and hate read
As for where i live
I would choose the exact city i am in iran maybe i would travel there and here and maybe i immigrate to tehran or even alexandria but i like familiar things more
